Went to La Mere a few days ago during the weekend of the Malta Comic Convention at St. James Cavalier in Valletta. The weather was horrible, it was pouring rain, and so not to travel too far we decided to look for a restaurant in the vicinity. We walked past La Mere and although it looked quite packed, we decided to ask if there was a table available anyway. To our luck, a couple was just leaving and so we were seated after only 5 minutes.
For starters, we ordered Grilled Aubergines, Paneer Pakoras, and the Pulpetti Tal-Hut to share between the two of us. All three were absolutely divine, with such amazing flavours! Next up, for main course we had the Chicken Korma and the Mixed Sizzler. Delicious and the meat was so tender, especially the chicken. The side Pilau Rice and Naan bread were delicious and we practically licked our plates.
We couldn't leave without having desserts, which were also very good. A slice of Daim pie and a slice of a homemade filo pastry dessert which i have forgotten the name :)
When the bill came, we were also pleasantly surprised that after all that food, it did not break the bank!
The ambiance, music and art only added to such a lovely experience. Probably the only let down was that they were out of Indian beer, which we would have loved to try.
Definitely recommend La Mere!
