Have been to La Mere several times, and finally I am writing a review!
I was there last week with my girlfriends (it was a first at La Mere for them), we were seated as soon as we entered the restaurant and the menus and winelist were in our hands within minutes, we ordered a nice South African Chenin Blanc and some water until we decided upon the food. The best thing about this place is that you get the wine at retail price and you get to pay only for the corkage fee therefore its not daylight robbery!
We decided upon an indian platter for a starter, the platter had vegetable samosas, spiced pieces of chicken and some sort of fried onions and potatoes, all served with mango chutney. They were delicious, especially the vegetable samosas which had a hint of curry.
For main course we all had indian mild curries(for the more adventurous there is medium, hot and very hot), korma, tikka masala and madras with pilau rice and Naan bread, we shared our curries and all of them were delicious.
We were quite full after this however we still went for dessert, and of course we were not disappointed, banoffie pie was to die for, as well as baklava and the indian icecream spiced with cardamom and pistacchios, it was like eating heavenly cream.
Price for all the above food was 28 euro per person including tips, which is quite cheap considering we had 2 bottles of wine and a three course meal.
All in all we had a great time and I cannot wait to visit again.
