Reviewed 6 November 2013 for a stay in October 2013

Spent 7 agreable nights in this appartment, which is unusual, with good and bad points..
GOOD...centrally located, well equipped, modern video/tv/music installations
NOT so good.........36 tiring stairs to climb, noisy neighbours, smelly entrance/(drains/toilets) hard bed......unusual bath...kitchen layout and sink not well designed.

Dear valued guest, thank you very much for taking the time to review your stay with us at Felix Street. Thank you also for your 4 star rating (Good) and your email confirmation that you intend to book Felix Street when you return to Malta in 2014 and that you will be recommending Felix Street to your family and friends. With regard to a few points that you have kindly raised......Having let Felix Street to well over 200 valued guests during the past six years we have had absolutely no adverse comments from previous guests with regard to any of the points that you have raised in your review. That said, we do really appreciate your feedback. Felix Street is advertised as a second floor apartment and as such one would naturally assume that there would be a few steps to reach the second floor. You mentioned in your review about the drains on the ground floor. Once a year we carry out preventative maintenance on all of the communal parts of the building and my property manager has confirmed that the communal drains on the ground floor had been inspected just prior to your arrival. I am sorry if this inconvenienced you at all. You mentioned in your email to me that one evening you were woken by two of our elderly neighbours who were passing the time of day on the communal stairs. Again, the subject of noisy neighbours has not been brought to my attention by our previous guests so, I think that this was a one off occurrence that a guest has been disturbed whilst sleeping. I apologise for any inconvenience that this may have caused you. You mentioned in your review that the bed was a little on the hard side for you. I personally purchased the bed mattress for the bed and I can only say that I have slept in the bed on numerous occasions without any discomfort whatsoever. In September of this year we had two elderly guests (Age 82 & 85) from Australia staying with us and I actually received a very complimentary email from them telling me that they slept so well in the bed that they really did not want to get up in the morning! You kindly mentioned a couple of other points with regard to design features that really do come down to ones own personal preferences however, I do thank you for your valued comments. We do look forward to meeting up with you again at Felix Street during your next visit to Malta in 2014.

Best regards,

Ian Kelloway - Owner Felix Street

“Gorgeous”
Reviewed 1 October 2013 for a stay in September 2013

My boyfriend and I stayed in Ian's lovely apartment for a week in mid September 2013 and had a great holiday. We have come back really refreshed.

The apartment had everything we needed and was really comfortable, relaxing and romantic. The cinema projector is fantastic! My boyfriend is confused as to why we haven't yet installed a similar contraption in our own home....! It was great to return from a day of exploring Malta and relax in the apartment with gentle sounds of the city in the background.

Ian's friendly drivers both fetched us and brought us back (which also meant getting/giving back the keys was really easy) so we didn't have to worry about anything.

Ian was truly a pleasure to deal with and did everything he could to make sure we had a great trip.

I can't recommend it enough.

If you don't want the hassle of renting a car, the buses in Malta are great - it's easiest to stay in Valetta as the majority of buses start/end there. I also thought Valetta was a gorgeous city, especially at night, and especially in the area around the apartment - be sure to take an evening walk and absorb the beautifully lit up buildings etc, it's really pretty.

Enjoy it if you go! I'm jealous!

“Excelent location, stunning apartment”

Just returned from a very pleasant week in Malta, blessed with fantastic weather, which was just the ticket after our long winter.
Located on the second floor of an 18th century building, the apartment is central to all the amenities in Valletta, from where bus transport all across the island is easily accessible. This makes a car unnecessary and a cheap weekly ticket covers unlimited travel.
This apartment is simply stunning. It offers spacious accommodation, perfect for couples. It has a great layout and is really fun to live in. It was spotlessly clean when we arrived. The kitchen is well equipped, there is a wonderful ensuite wet room and separate toilet in the large double bedroom, where there is also a sofa bed. This would be fine for couples travelling with children, but it could make it difficult for friends wishing to share.
This is an old building and there is some noise transference from neighbours who tend to rise early. This did not cause us a problem and we found a good set of earplugs ensured a lie in.
The booking process for this property was simple and straightforward. The communication throughout was excellent and the owner arranged an airport transfer which was not expensive. The driver provided us with the keys to the apartment and the housekeeper had ensured there was a welcome pack of basic groceries - much appreciated as we arrived late in the evening.
You will not be disappointed to stay here as the central location is just perfect. So much to see and do in Valletta and loads of good bars cafes and restaurants.

Recently returned from a wonderful week's stay in the Felix Street apartment.
Chosen after seeing it as the top place to stay in Valletta on Trip Advisor and was not disappointed. The whole booking process was easy and dealt with very nicely by the owner who was more than accommodating to our change of date requests and fitting in with our travel rather than specifying specific changeover dates. And the pre-trip information provided was most comprehensive and very useful, including, for peace of mind, local emergncy, doctor and dentist numbers, just in case.
Part of the deal included a complimentary pick up from the airport to the apartment in Valletta which was a superb touch and very nice on arrival. The driver, Anthony, was most welcoming and happy to tell us about Malta on the drive, and handed over the keys and showed us around the flat.
The flat itself is very nicely redesigned interior from the original old building, and a fantastic location within the old city of Valletta. If you are after a more authentic experience of Malta, rather than staying along the rest of the newly built up north coast holiday apartment/hotels stretch, I would say this apartment has probably the best location. From the balcony you can see the back of the Grandmaster's Palace and directly opposite, the small indoor market, vital for food shopping. It is just a short walk around the corner to several excellent restaurants, also recommended by the owner.
We had only two minor misgivings about the flat. One was the lack of coffee machine - but you can put that down to personal taste I suppose. It would have been nice to have a stove-top coffee maker for the week's stay. And when we arrived the flat was not as clean as we would have hoped, however, please don't be put off by this fact - it mostly felt like no-one had stayed there for a while and had only last been cleaned when the last visitors left; also, when we explained this to the agent who looks after the property, a lovely lady called Clare, she apologised profusely and immediately arranged for someone to come in and clean the flat again, which was done the very next day and was a very professional job. And I got the impression that in the future this wouldn't happen again. It is also nice to know that any comments like that can be made and are acted upon straight away. I am sure if we had asked her about a coffee maker she would have sorted us out with that too. Clare was also very helpful in recommending places to visit and eat and go out in the evening and personally delivered a nice welcome bag of food, including some pungent local cheese that should not be missed!
Advice is to take some of your favourite DVD's with you... it may not seem like a great idea to stay in on your holiday, but you may want a relaxing night in one night and the home cinema system uses the whole of one wall to project your film on to, with a great sound system to enhance the picture.
And another bit of advice is for buying food. The market closes at around midday. There are a few good stalls within the market to buy food, butchers, greengrocers and a general shop with a deli counter that has mostly everything you will need (excellent products but long wait to buy anything as the locals use it and queue too). The market does feel and look a bit past it's heyday, but does the job. There is a Mark's and Spencer a short walk away, and the Wembley Stores near the city gates has a more upmarket selection of foods, mostly imported things. But there are no local supermarkets in Valletta and all the small shops also close at midday or 1pm, so get your food shopping in early!
Overall this flat deserves it's excellent reviews and I would recommend it to anyone wanting to stay in Valletta.

We felt welcome from the start.....we were picked up in person at the airport, and had a welcome pack of food waiting for us when we arrived!!
The apartment was in the main part of town and made us feel very much a part of the community, waking upto the gentle hustle bustle of the market being set up for the day and our neighbor occasionally serenading us in maltese song in the morning!!!!
The apartment was very airy, spacious and comfortable.... it felt like coming home after a day of exploring and traveling on the funny/chaotic buses of Malta!!
Would we recommend staying here........probably not......as if like us you stay here, you would want to come again!!! and we do not want all the booking dates filled!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you very much for taking the time to review Felix Street. I am pleased that you enjoyed staying in the apartment and that you had a great time exploring Valletta and Malta. Since your visit we are currently in the process of decorating throughout the apartment. We have also acted upon suggestions from previous guests and fully enclosed the bathroom and also fitted a new door to the wetroom. Additional lighting has also been installed in the bedroom. Many thanks again for the review. Regards, Ian Kelloway.
