A few nights ago a waiter friend - Leonardo from Roma) recommended we try Salvino's - an Italian eatery in Archbishop Street - and we are glad we did. Sandro Pietrini welcomed us - we had a Campari Spritz as an aperitif and in the quiet ambience of an interior ristorante - not out on the street - my wife had a lasagne of mouth-watering deliciousness (I know because we always share our dishes) and a mixed green/tomato salad - while I had a fried calamari dish. Superb. We had wanted a local Maltese rosé but the cellar for that was bare. Sandro recommended a Rosé d'Anjou from the Family Bougrier of the Loir-et-Cher region which is the ancestral home region of my sister-in-law's mother. We noted other couples - locals as well as tourist travellers such as ourselves - and several family groups (all French-speaking). We have booked again for lunch to-morrow!
