“Home Away from Home in Malta!”
Reviewed 19 June 2016 for a stay in May 2016

We loved the whole feel of Valletta G-House. We felt comfortable from the moment we stepped through the door! The 'welcome basket' was a very 'welcome' surprise and, as we arrived late, meant that we had food for breakfast :) The decor is delightful and the bed very comfortable (always important)! Valletta was very busy so we really appreciated having a sanctuary at the 'quiet' end of Republic Street. After eight days of running up and down the stairs at 'home' as well as in the streets of Valletta, we arrived home much fitter than when we left!! ;) All in all, staying at the G-House enhanced our whole experience of Malta.

Located a few short blocks from the main dining, shopping and tourist district, this quiet, quaint lodging is a delightful visit to the past. This historic apartment has been thoroughly modernized. The house manager, Joseph, was wonderful, and the basket of fresh goodies made for excellent breakfasts. Even the bottle of wine was appreciated. A thoroughly comfortable and enjoyable stay.

Dear turnerwl,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience and for your lovely comments. It's certainly been a pleasure to have you both stay. We've tried to keep the spirit of the house and locality in the way we've furnished Valletta G-House. Glad you like it. See you soon.

Warm regards,

Aldo

“Authentic Valletta Experience”
Reviewed 19 April 2016 for a stay in April 2016

We stayed five nights at the Valletta G-House. Joseph, the House Manager, was waiting for us at the airport and gave a a thorough run down on the house and Valletta. He was wonderful as was the house. This house will provide you with THE authentic Valletta living experience. It is comfortable and functional and within walking distance of the main Valletta attractions and the bus hub. It is beautifully decorated, including fresh flowers and a large welcome basket of local food delights. It feels like home!

Right around the corner is the Gugar Hang-out and Bar that sounds and looks funky but don't miss it -- you will savor delicious fresh foods at an unbelievable low price. The clientel is young -- I am not -- but they were very friendly to my constant companion and I on our two visits. I also strongly recommend taking in an event at the Teatru Manoel a short walk from the G-House.

Liked best: The authenticity of this 450-year-old house
Liked least: A tall person, such as I, has to watch for low beams on the first floor -- but that is part of the authenticity of this 16th century house!!

I am Actually in the valletta G House as I write this review. Everything that everyone raves about is true. Its an incredibly unique and quirky place to stay. There is nothing that you could want on a holiday that this place doesn't deliver. Joseph picks you up from the airport, makes sure you are settled. We had a call from the owner again, wanting to make sure everything was to our liking. There's a lovely welcome basket - bread, jam, tomatoes, milk, cheese etc etc. You feel like you are seeing real Malta and real people. Great for exercise - its 185 steps up to central Valletta (on the posive side its 185 down again later). Perfectly placed for lots of super restaurants - we've tried 3 so far :) We are just trying to work out when we can come back.

“Truly wonderful”
Reviewed 10 January 2016 for a stay in January 2016

We stayed here over New Year because we wanted somewhere magical to celebrate NYE which is also my husbands birthday. The house is truly fantastic, authentic, comfortable and we loved it. The furnishing and fabrics are extremely stylish and the whole effect is one of decadent luxury. Generally we make an evening of eating out somewhere new each evening on holiday but we were finding excuses to stay in! We did go out to some fantastic restaurants of course but we also ate in several evenings, ordered basics from Malta.com and bought meat, fruit and veg locally. It was a delight preparing food in the cellar kitchen which is equipped with all you need and then relaxing with a glass of Maltese wine whilst whilst some of the DVDs provided by Aldo. The house manager, Joseph, is a lovely guy who gave us detail and history on our journey from the airport. He had prepared a welcome basket of local delights which was very well received as our flight got us in late evening. He was due to fly to uk himself during our weeks stay and Aldo rang us himself to check all was ok which was a really nice gesture. Treat yourself to a stay here you won't regret it.

Dear Kath and Jason,

It was a delight having you stay at VGH. I'm glad you've made the most of the kitchen as well as Valletta's many restaurants. We have ourselves spent past NYEs in the walled city and we missed it this year. Hope old Blighty's treating you well. Hope that 2016 brings you all you wish and look forward to having you stay with us again soon.

Aldo

“A truly Maltese experience”
Reviewed 6 November 2015 for a stay in October 2015

The Valletta G House has great character and style and is situated very conveniently at the end of the main street in Valletta. We loved hearing the sounds of this very traditional area - the fish man calling for customers each morning and the children trick acting on their way to school. The apartment was very unique with thick stone walls and stairs and beautiful old tiles on the bedroom floor. The art and furnishings were chosen with a real sense of flare. We were picked up at the airport by Joseph who was most helpful and told us a bit about Valletta en route and explained the about the house. There was a lovely basket of local produce for us on our arrival. There was everything that you might need from information on the area, to scissors, sticking plasters and pegs. Aldo thinks of it all. I would thoroughly recommend staying in the Valletta G house if you want to really experience Valletta and all it has to offer.

Dear Jacky,

It was lovely having you and Nigel stay and we're glad you found the city's soundscape part of its charm. Glad you also managed to experience the Manoel Theatre - it's one the oldest in Europe. We look forward to having you stay again in the near future.

“Historic house with all modern conviences”
Reviewed 21 September 2015 for a stay in September 2015

Valetta G-House is a fabulous historic house in a residential area of Valetta close to all the attractions. Aldo picked us up from the airport before showing us around the house and leaving us with a welcome pack of goodies that we were very grateful of. Valetta is a delightful city and makes for a wonderful base from which to explore the island of Malta. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the house to anyone wanting to enjoy the historic city of Valetta.
