Description: Nenu The Artisan Baker is a meeting place for young and old, locals and foreigners, frequent patrons as well as those desirous of a taste of local authentic cuisine served within an old setting, restored to a pristine and unique look. Undoubtedly, the business venture places major emphasis on the need to promote the historical, cultural and societal importance of the prima donna which prompted the whole idea behind the project, namely... the Maltese bread in its traditional format. Apart from the meeting spots such as the 'Bar' area and the 'Discovery Room' area (primarily aimed at the younger generation), the premises offer an extensive dining coverage spread in many key points such as the 'Courtyard', the 'Attic' and other areas which may easily cater for special occasions and events.

“Authentic Maltese food”
Reviewed 19 August 2014

Old bakery cleverly converted into a modern restaurant while still retaining its authentic Maltese charm and character.

We went there to try their renouned filled ftiras (similar to, yet quite different from, pizzas). They had lots of fillings to choose from. Crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside and utterly flavourful.

Although we didn't order anything else, we had a look at the various dishes that were being served to other diners sitting at nearby tables and they looked simply amazing.

Can't wait to return and try other items from the menu.

“Nice”

Good Maltese food, for those who like it. Maltese drinks, where the beer is good but the wine is not always brilliant. Maltese coffee, try it! Not to my taste, though

“Nice place, but I expected more”
Reviewed 15 August 2014 via mobile

The place is very nice, with characters reminding bakers in the past. Kind waiters. Very good ftira, you can find of different kind, but the rest of food we tried (meet, octopus, rice with tomato peas and meat) was nothing special (not bad, but you can find best elsewhere). I don't think we'll come another time

“Delicious breads and amazing pizzas”
Reviewed 12 August 2014

Historic setting with life sized diorama to show how bread baking was once done. Great and varied menu, delicious breads and pizzas. Complimentary appetizer plate, too. Big portions, good prices. Popular with locals.

“Great”
Reviewed 6 August 2014 via mobile

It is simply a great place to be in wich one can feel part of history of this Great island especially in the Capital City Valletta.
Learning and eating traditional Maltese food. The owner Nenu (I can say that because I spoke to him)is such a great person that explains how traditional maltese food especially maltese bread is made in a traditional way. From what I could get, Nenu is or was a traditional baker himself.
The food was immaculate and it feels like one is eating in a traditional maltese kitchen where the main 'chef' is the grandma.
Enriching one's cultural knowledge by eating.
This is the best way I can explain this original idea of restautant.
Great Maltese wine selection. An ongoing documentary on the television screen explaining bread making by the owner himself.
Curiosity. . . This restaurant (a refurbished old bakery in itself) has a number of rooms and every room has a 'name' indicated with a name tag at the entrance example 'Ta Zuba' when I asked what's the meaning of such names, Nenu told me that those names are 'old family names or nick names' of important bread makers on the Island and Nenu's family nick name is 'tar-Ragel'
Great place to be, highly suggested.
