“A week in Valletta”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 April 2013

A really "nice" hotel. Friendly staff, especially those on the front desk who were knowledgable and helpful. We had a room on the 6th floor that gave terrific views across to Sliema. It was spacious , comfortable and well equipped.
As far as I could tell the hotel was fully occupied and this led to breakfast being a bit of a scrum, but there was plenty of choice for both hot and cold food.
The roof terrace was very good with shaded and non shaded areas and a small swimming pool, as well as good views across valletta.
During our stay the hotel exterior was being re-painted and looked very smart.

Room Tip: Not all rooms have baths, so if a bath is what you prefer then be sure to ask when booking. The 6th...

My friend and I had spent one week at a hotel in another area of Malta and decided to conclude our holiday with two nights in Valletta. There are only three hotels in Valletta itself and the reviews we read pointed to the Osborne being the best of them. We were certainly not disappointed. It is a charming, welcoming hotel with friendly and helpful staff. The rooms are nicely furnished with comfortable beds and the bathrooms appear to have been refitted recently with good quality items (although we found the shower cubicles to be rather small!). Apparently rooms with baths are available but need to be requested in advance. The air conditioning didn't seem to work very well in the bedrooms, but it was windy during our stay so leaving our bedroom windows open cooled the rooms down nicely. The only drawback to that is that the 22 churches in Valletta all ring their bells througout the night !! The food was good, but a little boring - pork chops were offered on each of the two evenings we were there - but if we stayed at the Osborne again we would just have breakfast in the hotel and eat the other meals elsewhere - there is definitely plenty of choice in Valletta.

Stayed here after reading good reviews but was disappointed. The location was great but that was about the only good thing.
Stayed in April when the weather is not too hot but the room was like a sauna. Could not sleep and and it made me ill. Complained to the manager the next day and basically he did not care did not offer a reduction in price and was very rude.
The bedroom was a good size but the bathroom was far too small.
Will not stay here again especially after the bad customer service.
Very expensive hotel.

Room Tip: Find a better hotel!!

From the extremely friendly on reception when I arrived at 8am to leave my bags, the staff at the hotel were very warm and friendly. Breakfasts were a treat, the views over Valletta from the room were charming, and I can recommend the buffet dinner which is a special price for residents.

Stayed at the Osborne very recently and the location is just great ! Very close to the main shopping area , bus station ( buses are 2.60 euros per day !!) and most of the central Valletta must sees . We stayed on a b&b basis , which worked well . Breakfast is fine and really what you would expect .
The bar , although small is adequate and drinks not unreasonable .
We stayed in room 102 , which looked like it had just been re-decorated , was tidy and clean , so no issues there . However , it was seriously noisy . The doors including ours slam shut and being a tourist hotel, doors tend to shut both early and late . There is no view from the room and the kitchens are just below the room and the noise from the kitchens travel up to the room . Considering the staff start prepping for breakfast at about 6.45am , you can sense the issue with the noise !
So , yes we would stay again , but only in a room higher up in the hotel and away from kitchen noises and slamming doors . Don't stay in 102 !!!!

Room Tip: Don't get put in 102 / 101 . Try and get an upper floor

This is a great hotel in the centre of Valleta, close to all ammenites, the high street, the buses, local attractions and the ferry water bus to cross to the other side of the island. The hotel is very clean and tidy. The rooms seem to have been redecorated recently and arenice, but do remember this is a city and it wakes up early. The staff are most helpful and eager to help in any way.Prices are great, breakfast could be better [if you are on a long stay] but there is so much on the doorstep. All the trip busses are worth it but the public transport is fantastic and so reasonable, lots of different deals to suit your needs.Malta is great we loved it.

Room Tip: choose above the first floor, some rooms are bigger than others so ask.

Lovely traditional hotel ideally situated for all the main attractions in the lovely city of Valletta and close to the bus station for travellling to other parts of this lovely island. (All day bus ticket 2.60 euros).

Our room was clean and looked to have been refurbished in the recent past. It was nicely decorated and to our great delight, had tea and coffee making facilities, although more whitener would have been a bonus - 2 packs was not really enough.

Breakfast was fine, but a little more variety for those staying 4 nights would haved been welcome (eg grilled / fried tomatoes as an option).

It was a shame that the rooftop terrace wasn't open whist we were there, as it would have been warm enough to sit up there and relax after a day's sightseeing.

We didn't eat in the hotel - there were excellent eateries nearby including the most excellent Rubino. All in all, a great place to stay.
