A charming hotel, with excellent views of the harbour from the room, and close to the centre of Valletta. The check-in, breakfast and arrangements are made at Luciano's restaurant about 3 blocks away. We also ate a number of meals at the restaurant. Luciano was extremely helpful in making our stay very comfortable, arranging transport etc. The room had a double bed, on-suite, air conditioner, TV, wardrobe. A small chest of drawers would have been useful. But it was the morning view of the harbour that was the real highlight.

Room Tip: There are rooms facing the harbour. Ours (332) was on the top floor (stairs) which have a small balc...

Luciano Al Porto Boutique is a very good place to stay. The location and view is faboulous and the quality of the accomodations is very good. Very charming building. But the best is the friendly reception by Luciano and all the staff. They welcomed us from the first minute to depart! Definitly a place to stay.

If you can find this building (it is difficult to access by car and we were dropped with our cases at the top of a flight of over 150 steps), you will then have to ring a number sellotaped to the wall outside as their is no reception and the doors are locked.
You will have to walk up another 89 steps and a steep slope to the cafe where you will have to pay for your rooms in full, in advance. This is also where you have to go for breakfast. If it is raining you get soaked on the way to and from breakfast.
There no facilities and no lift in the building.
The rooms are newly refurbished and clean but there is no drawer space in some rooms and little hanging space.
They are just rooms charging hotel prices.

My boyfriend and I planned our first trip to Malta. We went for a total of 10 days.
Based on reviews and the Lonely Planet guide, we decided to stay 4 days in Valletta, 3 days in Gozo and the last two nights in Mdina.
Luciano al Porto was a great flat. Although we couldn't get the sea view as we wanted we loved the place. On the first night the bar downstairs was having a live jazz night which made it an unforgettable first impression of Malta.
For breakfast you have to walk up a couple of streets (3 mins) to Luciano's restaurant.
If you are going there by car there are places available normally after 12pm on the street below Luciano al Porto. Highly recommend renting a car if you want to have a real Maltese experience and exploring around the islands.

Room Tip: Book in advance. The rooms that overlook Vittoriosa and the harbour would make this a 10/10 place to...

Recently renovated nice ancient building on the Grand Harbour edge of Valletta.
Our room was refurbished with taste and charm, but not very practical: there is not any cupboard or shelf to put your stuff on it.
From the window a breahtaking view on the Grand Harbour and Senglea.
There is a flat TV, but only with a few german channels, no english, no italian channels, very strange:(
The bed is large and nice, but too smooth for my taste.
The bathroom is small, but clean and nice.
The AC works properly.
There is no elevator, the stairs are tight and steep.
The only one really pity, that there is no any personal, no reception or other service in the building, if you need anything, and for the breakfast too, you must do a really steep upward, 200 m approx. to the Luciano's Café on Merchant street. With some luggage or with the afternoon heat, it's really unlovely.
The personal in the Café is helpful, but they asked the whole lodgement fee in advance, at the moment of the check in, before you even seen your room!
Really strange and unpleasant thing, if you have any problem with your room, it's really difficult to claim, with the whole bill payed in advance...
Accomodation reccomended for young and healthy people, but not for ancient or sick persons.

Room Tip: Higher floors have nicer view, but a lot of stairs to do.

We had booked a sea view room and were pleasantly suprised as we got a wonderful view over the Grand Harbour. The room was clean, nicely furnished and the staff at Ursula Street were very friendly. The place is still undergoing some minor renovation work but this did not disturb our stay. Breakfast was served at Luciano's on Merchant Street (2 minute walk) and was good. Luciano himself was very friendly and helpful. Great place to stay.
