You walk from the Triton Fountain, cross the bridge over the old moat, and you arrive at this modern gate. And it is modern, construction finished in 2014, the fifth gate built at this location, the original, Porta San Giorgio was built in 1569. City Gate has no real ornamentation and is a complete contrast to the ornamentation of Victoria Gate. Two steel poles, one on either side, anchored to the structure, reach skyward. Once through the gate, you are on Triq ir-Repubblika, the City's main street which runs to Fort St Elmo.

Great walls in very good condition. They are part of the city, give a lot to the city view. You can also walk on it, there is an elevator and a lot of stairs of course :)

The Valletta City Gate is a great way to walk into the city and takes you onto the main which has a large amount of major attractions. Probably not completely unmissable but well worth doing.

Walking down to Valletta is a nice experience. One can choose to go up the big stairs to go up to Castle square on the right or on the left to Hasting Gardens. Once can't not notice the parliament building.

Valetta is a lovely city worth strolling through. There's lots to take note of here, and the city gate is one of those things. No single feature necessarily stands out, but the gate, the fountain, the Parliament, and more contribute to a sense of the city. It's all worth seeing as you walk along.
