Stayed here for 2 nights - the 1st and last nights of our 5 nights in The Faroe Islands. It was located very close to the bus station and an easy walk into the centre of the city.
Our room was adequate and clean, with a comfortable bed. All the staff were genuinely very friendly and helpful. Internet access and tea/coffee were included, with a good breakfast selection provided.
Compared to other more expensive places to stay I was happy with every aspect of this hotel.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front have some views over the ocean, while those at the back only have a view of a wall.

This quirky hotel reminded me a bit of an upmarket Hostel. The rooms were small and relatively basic but spotlessly clean, with satellite TV (albeit mainly danish channels) an free Wifi. The Beds were comfortable and the small bathroom had underfloor heating. The View was of the bay. Breakfast was a buffet style continental affair, where you tidy up after yourself. The bread was warm and the eggs boiled to perfection

The staff was friendly and helpful, but be aware the hotel is unstaffed for most of the day.

We took advantage of the cheap hire car offered by the Hotel. A Kia Picanto, free mileage and insurance, left for us at the airport, with the key under the mat...Welcome to the Faroes!

The hotel is centrally placed, a few minutes walk from the centre. To me, it is one of the nicest places I have stayed in a long time. If I come back to the Faroes I will definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: They serve only breakfast. The fitness centre is not part of the hotel but is literally next door

The hotel is absolutely fine, but not a lot more than that. It is probably an exceptional value in comparisson to other hotels in Torshavn, an expensive city to say the least, but has the basic appeal (and feel) of a college dorm. There are some very clever slogans painted by each doorway, and on the landings--things like "This room has never been used to plan a bank robbery"or "Single, but still dreams of being a double some day". The sense of humor and the quality of the staff are what make the hotel. Let me repeat for emphasis, staff are exceptional.

Rooms are small, but adequate, and appointments are not more glamorous than anything you'd find in the range at Ikea. Some bits are a bit rundown--tiles on steps are cracked, not all doors close easily. Everything is spotlessly clean.

Note to travellers arriving late and driving on their own:
The hotel is not well lit on the outside, and there is not a lighted sign. On the road in from the airport, when the road dead ends make a left. The road will wind a bit over the next mile or two. The hotel will be on your roghtside, across from the Eik Bank on the left side. If you get to the lighthouse and traffic circle, you've gone too far. They have free parking! (They also have a car rental agreement, so you might consider a taxi and just renting from them)

We stayed for 3 nights. The owner of the hotel was a great help to us, nothing was too much trouble. The hotel is budget one with many perks, free wi fi and Internet, complimentary breakfast and free tea and coffee available all day. The owner helped us organise trips using local buses and ferries as organised tours were too expensive. He printed off timetables, trip notices and told us about the cheap helicopter rides which are really for the use of locals but if there are empty seats tourists may use them. The islands are a real gem. A great experience.

I stayed at Hotel Streym during July for three nights. The reception responded very quickly on my emails and I got good answers on my questions. I also hired a car thru Streym, they have a fairly good price. The procedure for hiring and getting the car was very simple without formalities - good !

Torshavn is not a large town, the location is good, although not as central as Hotel Hafnia or Hotel Torshavn, but a couple of minutes walk won't hurt.

The buffetbreakfast was good - scandinavian style.

The staff was very friendly and helpful in a personal way.

Because I travelled solo I got a single room on the back of the house - ie no view of the sea, but quiet. However be aware of that the single rooms are rather small, the last night the room was so small that I could not fould up my suitcase on the floor and in the same time open the door to the bathroom. I did however get a discount for that last night.

In summary: A hotel with good value and nice friendly staff - recommended !
