Description: "Some rooms can seem threatening to the uninitiated. Others can be inviting. Once you negotiate the well-sized and nicely appointed terrace, Oscars Bar greets patrons with warm, green walls, homely and weighty green curtains and those posters and portraits of Irish writers that are a hibernophile cliche from Temple Bar to Taipei. Perhaps such adornment is unavoidable given the theme of the place (and the name, obviously), but the overall feeling is like that of a library, or possibly the living room of an old-school unmarried uncle which has been rearranged for a civilised soiree. This is no bad thing, illustrating the establishment's strength: it is comfortable and laid back and as such represents a chilled out alternative to other places. Furthermore, they serve food beyond bar snacks: the Sunday Roast is notable and only adds to the domestic feel and smoking is not permitted during kitchen hours. Although Irish by nature, Oscar's attracts a multinational crowd, who are perhaps more interested in a few quieter drinks than a wild night out. If that is what you are seeking, you'd be better to look elsewhere, and there are other places with an atmosphere more conducive to watching sporting events. But to meet friends and talk, Oscar's is a good place to start a night out. A caveat: once installed, it can be difficult to leave the couches at the back of the bar on the ground floor! Oscar's boasts an upstairs room which is available for events, live music every Fridays and also Karaoke every Saturdays."

We were actually headed to Scott's pub across the street because they have river view seating. But when it started to rain we thought we would try Oscars. Turned out to be a great idea! We had a party of 7 so we tried a lot of things on the menu. Lots of burger choices even a Veggie burger! The Irish/English breakfast that is served all day (Saturday) was great. Huge portions at this restaurant compared to what we are used to getting in Europe. The service was fast, friendly and very funny - had a wonderful lunch!

Very good service provided by smiling people. Generous portions. Went for lunch on a Sunday and had roast with baked potatoes and Yorkshare Pudding. 50€ including drinks. Will definitely go back!

My husband and I came here after being disappointed at Scott's Pub. The beer was good - the service was quite unfriendly but the job got done. I liked my dinner - ham and tomato sandwich, but my husband hated his. He ordered the double whammy burger and it was huge and plain. There is a nice beer garden outside. Maybe come for the drinks and not dinner.

The location is nice, at the centre of the old city, the idea is good, a brittish style pub, the interioir is nice as well, but the food is definatelly below par. Its like eating at a cantine by the side of the road. Its too bad because everybody loves a well placed pub that serves food and is open on Sundays. I guess thats why it was packed the Sunday we visited. Avoid the food just go there for a drink -oh not that much of a variety on the tab too..
