It may be not the biggest castle in Europe (but it is really big), but with its setting up the rock and its layering of different centuries it gives you feeling that you enter a fairy tale. You are surrounded with a fabulous construction that merges with the rock. The chapel and the big gallery with the stunning view are the highlights. The interior is a bit empty, but you may consider it is a plus, living you free to imagine any epoch that is your favorite - from Romans to early XIX century. The castle just inspires you, it does not give you distinctive images, it is just a sketch, a monumental structure you run your imagination around. We liked it.
The town below the castle is charming, and with plenty of restaurants, too.
