“Nicely restorated castle”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 July 2014 via mobile

I have the restoration process seen developing in the last decade. Visiting the castle of the Orange family many times now.

The castle is situated above the city of Vianden. A quit steep path is leading to the castle. A tour takes you approximately 1.5 hour. It gives you a very good flavor of the foreign times.

In the years to come I will visit Vianden castle more often as it surprises everytime.

Take the chairlift and the zig zag path through the woods to the castle. Both are free with a luxembourg card. Restored castle with good displays and views

“Lots of history and some great exibits”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 July 2014

We liked the to be able to walk at our own pace and read the information in all the rooms. It is very informal and there is very little you can't explore. To read about how it was in almost complete ruin and then rebuilt to look like it did in its glory years is a tribute to the country caring about its heritage. there are several ways to get to the Chateau but all involve walking. The one we took is the chairlift up from the city, with a hike through the forest on a very rustic trail to the Chateau. The only thing I wish they would have had was more English information on the history of the Chateau. But is was a very interesting visit. I would plan about half a day to really explore and examine the Chateau and another hour to get up there and take the chairlift.

“Vianden veiw”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 July 2014

My daughter and I were backpacking in Europe and decided to go from Luxemburg City to Vianden. We walked from the bus stop down by the bridge, up the very steep cobbled-stoned road to get to Viandens Castle. We were the only people walking through the place at the time so it was quite eerie but utterly spectacular. There are many castles dotted around Europe and this is another place that is well worth a visit. Luxemburg itself is a small country but it is stunning.
