We stayed here recently with our eldest son and daughter in law, although the first impression was that the exterior could do with freshening up we were very impressed with the interior of the hotel and the surroundings were stunning.
The rooms whilst quite old fashioned, were of a reasonable standard but very clean, with the bathrooms being very modern and obviously recently renovated. Our only criticism being the two twin beds instead of doubles that we would have expected.
Being a Saturday night there was no a la carte choice only a buffet menu but this was of first class standard served by some very helpful and courteous staff. The wine list was extensive and whilst not cheap was certainly not too expensive either.
All the staff we encountered were very polite and cheerful and were immaculately turned out.
The breakfast was very extensive and again of a very high standard.
All in all a very good hotel which we would recommend to others.

Yes this property is old-fashioned, brown bathroom suites, no airco, poor wifi coverage ....

However .... sometimes old-fashioned is a virtue. The location is extremely peaceful with fantastic views from the terrace or lake facing rooms. The staff are really lovely, friendly and welcoming. The food in the restaurant is also very good, if a little reassuringly expensive. The rooms are quiet, clean and comfortable with a pleasant private balcony to sit on and admire the view over Echternach.

We had wonderful stay here and were completely relaxed during and after it - what more can you ask from a hotel I wonder.

We chose this hotel for a scenic Spa break whilst my huband recovered from surgery. We were not disappointed with the location however the hotel was hard to find since the address did not register on Tom Tom, however we found the general location and asked for directions. On arrival we were greeted warmly and following checkin our bags were taken to our room whilst we went into the restaurant for dinner ( we arrived 15 minutes before the end of dinner service). The food was pretty good and there is a good wine list, albeit quite expensive. Pre dinner cocktailsare also quite good.

The room consisted of a living area and bedroom with marble bathroom ( tub and shower) and guest wc (interestingly without sink - had to wash hands in main bathroom ?).

Room pros : large and airy, 2 TV,s and 2 doors to the long narrow balcony. Nice views of countryside and partial lake view. Saw a wild deer outside of hotel on one occasion, cute. Big bed and good housekeeping. Large dressing gowns. Room was very quiet, no disturbance from other guests.

Room cons: dated furnishings and no airco. Shower had features that didn't work, although basic shower function was fine. Bath tub jacuzzi jets hadnt been cleaned properly so the first time I used it dirt from the jets entered the bath (yuk) and I ended up having a shower to clean off, subsequently it was fine. Bed was a little hard and more pillows would have been nice. Balcony would benefit from being a little wider.

Catering was pretty good. Breakfast provided a good choice. Dinner was good although was rather expensive. Drinks were available in the cocktail bar however service was shared with the restaurant and was quite slow and prices were high.

The Spa was our biggest disappointment lots of features were closed and the indoor pool and combined gym/billiards area was overrun with noisy children. Drinks service was fairly slow. My husband did have a massage which was apparently quite good (albeit spoilt by the noise from the children) I had booked a treatment bath but this was cancelled due to defective equipment, however the nice spa lady did give me some of the gel for the inroom jacuzzi. We did notice that tennis courts and squash were also avalable although we did not try these. Basically we have visited better Spas at lower rated hotels.

Check out was professional and we were given some wine has a leaving gift and discount vouchers for a future stay.

Room Tip: If you plan to eat in the hotel take an half board option if available to save money. Drink the local wines since these are excellent and not too expensive.

We were booked in here by another party and some of the reviews we read seemed rather critical. We needn't have worried as our room was well furnished, clean and large with good bathroom facilities. The breakfast was extensive and the cooked items fresh. There is a large terrace outside the restaurant where you can eat if the weather is good. It's in a lovely location although out of the town so you'd have to drive if you wanted to eat or drink elsewhere (we didn't). The front of house staff (in particular Natalie) were exceptionally helpful and the Maitre d' (Robert) went out of his way to solve a problem for us. The hotel was busy so we weren't the only ones who needed attention. We didn't try the spa facilities. Wi-fi was limited to public areas although there was a free internet connection for residents to use. The main downside for us was that it was hot while we were there and there is no air conditioning but overall we enjoyed our time here and would go back.

Room Tip: Although we were on the car park side the trees were in full leaf and you could hardly see cars at all. Our room was 353 with a good size balcony and a large room and bathroom with good furnishings.

We stayed here with our baby - which I was dreading a bit because it is a 5 star hotel and you somehow feel you might not be welcome with babies. Not the case at all - the staff were so accommodating and friendly and the manager (Robert) brought professionalism into the restaurant. We had very good value meals - although be warned the wine list is extensive (positive) and expensive (negative) - we opted for a 40 euro wine which wasn't great - and I happen to think 40 euros is erring towards the fairly expensive for wine - but that is the only negative we had. The room was wonderful and spacious with an excellent view. The grounds are beautiful and there are some fabulous walks to go on. We loved the spa area and I had the best massage I have ever had there which completely cleared up a cricked neck! I loved the fact you felt like you had stepped back in time - this is not a reflection on the décor - but the general feel of the place. Loved it and will happily return for more visits. Oh yes and their tea selection deserves a mention - it was explained to us over dinner and then you can taste them in the morning - lovely!
