i regulary visit this restaurant. I love the food the buffet I love the atmospher. This is what I like in this restaurant is the right way and portion primo secondo piatto , as in italy. If you want very good italian food and hate the german style of regular big plate of food . Then this is the right place for you. Real italian people come here as it remember the italian restaurant from Italy. For big events , you could book the first floor.. you will be exclusive use it. The service is very good. Never been disapointed. What could I say as non good points? Yes there is no terasse, it's in the city , and you most of the time need in advance reserve a table, you need to wait a bit longer for your food. It's expensive.. Well I have no problem with that, if you want excellent food you need to be patient, this is not microwave food. Never disapointed , tey suggestion or try ro be surprised by telling what you like to have. They will do the best choice for you.

A good place to go for a "nothing" special Italian lunch. Service and owners are great....food a little less.

yes, the food is slightly pricey (but luxembourg gets a LOT worse), but really the family who run Il Riccio truly care that you like the food and the wine, and you can relax and enjoy the company of whomever you are with.
We arrived before their opening time (it was freezing cold so couldn't go for a walk around town), and all waiters were in jeans and chilling out before the service started, but they let us stay for a glass of wine and made us feel welcome. Food included a superb risotto (too much to finish), sirloin steak with superb green veg - straightforward italian food, well done. Both red and white house wines were great matches for the dishes.
Menu in italian and german; the family speaks english and americans are particularly welcome!

I've tried the Il Riccio a couple of time over the years and it's the sort of place you always find yourself disappointed with. It really all boils down to the price.

Lunch - the issue with lunch is that they usually have a lot of clients but just not enough staff for the service to the brisk enough.

Dinner - there is a lot of choice on the menu and so everyone will feel that they have found something to suit (note this is italian but that does not mean pizza!) There are then the specials which as other diners have noted, there are no prices and so they are presented based on what I assume to be the 'how high can we go' rule. Portions are not overly generous and if you only take a pasta dish you will be disappointed (or hungry)

The staff are a mix of friendly and pseudo-friendly. It's not really about the customer.

It's brilliantly placed in the city centre and is cosy, if it's not really busy. The rooms upstairs add more to that feel.

At €40 for a shared starter (antipasti for 4), a glass of wine and pasta dish it remains pricey for what it offers.

authentic italian cuisine. Not very cosy but it has its charme.
