I read the reviews before I booked. So there were no surprises. Long walk to the hotel room, not the best breakfast, not the fastest service, also you need to pay 1 night in advance for the booking, the rooms are not so soundproof... but still I was open and ready for it since I knew before I got there. And I enjoyed it. I stayed 3 nights. I even enjoyed the dinner in the restaurant. reasonable price for 3 course meal.

If you are looking for a luxurious hotel service or hotel rooms, or if you are there just for the night sleep I would not recommend. But for me it was great. I liked the casual friendly staff, the swimming accomodations, and even the walk to the park next to it. I think you've got have the time to enjoy these additional accomodation to like the hotel.

We stayed here as a quirky option as part of a 10 day tour of Europe, easily located the strange experience started with no clear signage to the hotel and a long walk to a room which is like walking through a locker room! It had been a hot day and we were disappointed that there was no aircon, the bed made from two singles was not comfy, though the room itself was well equipped. We were not told where we could go to eat and the staff generally were not interested. The sleep was poor and the bottom sheet was not nice and with no way to cool the room it was like sleeping in a sauna. I can see that it is convenient for people staying to compete or use the facilities but for us not a good option and would not recommend.

I must admit that staying in D'Coque was a strange experience. Having arrived at the front of a big sport arena with no sign posts saying "this way for the hotel", working out where to go was a bit complicated. You just have to go into the reception (great staff at the desk). We were then escorted through the sport complex to our room which was quite a way away, which is alright actually because with your room key card you get access to a side door which takes you straight to the rooms.

The hotel rooms were modern, well furnished and they had obviously made a big effort to make it look welcoming. Two safes, detached single beds, hairdryer, lots of space.
There is also a "lounge" just outside with settees, a big TV (bigger than the ones in the rooms that is) and a pool table.

The swimming pools are GREAT. If you stay in the hotel, you get free entrance into the olympic aquatic center anyway, you just go to reception and they give you the wrist badge to get in. Two children's swimming pools, one 25 meter pool, the big 50 by 25 olympic pool and the five meters deep diving pool with the high diving boards. You need a swimming hat for the big pools but you can go ask the men at the side wearing the red shirts if they can lend you them, which is what we did. The lockers do not take money but are opened and closed using the wrist bands which you get in and out of the pool with. Also, even if the pools are open to the public, there always seemed to be plenty of room to swim, no bumping into each other at all.
You also get discounts for the wellness and other fitness sections which d'Coque provides.

Breakfast is served at "La Perla" which is like a smart canteen masquerading as a restaurant. The breakfast was very good, as was the evening meal we ordered from there, we could not fault it, except perhaps the cold coffee. The staff however.... either blanked you or were not ever so pleasant. They looked constantly fed up and were not welcoming at all, especially the cleaning lady who seemed intent on mopping around our table and tutting when we got up to go back to the buffet as she had mopped everywhere around us. I mean, at peek time 9 to 10 o'clock, don't mop the floor! Or at least don't tut at the people who have to walk on the floor.

Also, it is best to park on the road beyond the car park than in the actual car park. D'Coque charges one euro an hour for parking, even during the night, whereas outside on the road you can park for free at the weekend and otherwise it's 50 cents per hour.
It is also close to bus stops etc but if you cant to go into Luxembourg center there are plenty of spaces to park.

We will definitely be returning, if not only for a swimming weekend!

Bizarre experience. Arrived at 10 pm at a big sports center (the hotel is not signposted, just go for the main entrance) and was escorted to my room by a uniformed security guard. Took about 10 minutes to get there, through the maze of the sports facilities. The room was spacious, clean, well-designed and exceptionally quiet, I have to say. In the morning I had to do some exploration of myself to find the restaurant for breakfast. Having finally arrived there, I went unnoticed by the staff, that seemingly couldn't care less. Fine with me, although it was a pity the coffee can at the buffet was empty and I could not attract the staff's attention to refill it. All in all, actually a very interesting set-up with some flaws (rude reception desk guy, ignorant breakfast staff) that make you feel that this is not really a hotel. These are rooms within a sports center. If that's ok with you, you might not be disappointed.

Quiet and charming hotel located in Kirchberg and belonging to the Coque Multicenter where regularly stars are performing in the multisports room which can be fitted like a concert hall. Located in the national sports center, the D'Coque offers spacious, quiet, modern designed rooms for acceptable prices. Good breakfast and free admission to the 50m indoor swimming pool during the stay. Perfect to exercise after a day of long meetings and conferences. Rooms are located in the basement, so there is not much natural light. But they are quiet, and you can sleep with open windows. I really enjoyed my stay in connection with a conference on the Kirchberg. Very close to the European institutions, and easy accessible by Luxembourg's cheap and well organised city bus system.

I chose this hotel because it was within walking distance to the location of the conference I was attending in Kirchberg. Taxi from the railway station was 16 euros. Basically you are staying in a sports centre with some rooms attached but if you understand this and don't expect the 'hotel experience' it was fine.

The rooms are a long way from the reception area, which is also where you have to go to eat (breakfast is in the sports centre cafe, overlooking the pools). If you go outside then the route is more direct but potentially dark, wet and cold. If you go inside then it's a long roundabout route through a deserted sports complex - you need a good sense of direction. The place was oddly deserted - our local gym is packed evenings and early morning so I don't know where everyone was. Although I wasn't interested in the sports facilities I suspect that although the swimming and sports facilities look great in theory, actual availability to business travellers may be limited because of opening times. If the sports bit is important to you then don't book without checking that it's going to be open when you need to use it.

The rooms themselves were comfortable although the floors were bare wood (take slippers) which made them a little cold. The dark brown and green decor was nice. I could find only one English language channel (BBC World) on the TV and the internet although free was variable - good in reception/cafe but poor in the room.

I arrived at 9pm and there was no hot food (they stopped serving this at 8.30pm) but there was some quite nice salad (served until 10pm). This could be a problem if you arrive 'late' as there is nowhere else nearby to go.

So overall a nice room to stay in at a reasonable price if it's important to you to be in Kirchberg. But if you want shops and restaurants, have mobility difficulties (there were lifts, but it was still a long way to walk) or if you're the nervous type who might be freaked out by wandering alone through a deserted sports centre at night it might not be for you.

Room Tip: I don't think there is any difference between the rooms.
