I decided that on our way to Italy I would expand the list of countries I have visited by spending some time in Liechtenstein. I chose the Landgasthof Rössle because it was close to our route. It is 15 minutes from the Austrian autobahn, 3 minutes from the border and only 200 meters from Switzerland!
We were greeted by our very pleasent hosts and shown to one of the three rooms, ours was the only one without a balcony. The room was clean and comfortable, though it takes several flights of stairs to get to it. There is only CNN on the TV in English.
We headed for the outdoor dinning area and it was very nice with a great view. We had a local speciality schnitzel, with a kind of cocktail sauce. We washed this down with local beer and wine, the wine was especially good. The prices are in Swiss Francs, but Euro are also taken. My only little moan is that the prices are quite high. Breakfst was included and was ok. A lot better than you will ever get in France, but not up to the standards of some.
We did ask about a key to our room, as there wasn't one. "We can give you one if you want, but nobody ever goes up there" was the reply. We went with the no key option, it really is very laid back in Liechtensten.

We left refreshed in the morning feeling we had made some new friends and headed for the capital Vaduz. It is worth a visit and is only a 15 minute drive away.More
