“A Fabulous Place to Chill Out”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 November 2012

We went during the first 2 weeks in October and booked via Discovery Collection, an excellent boutique tour operator who specialise in North Cyprus and 4 or 5 other destinations. We flew on a BA flight direct to Larnaka, far quicker than going via mainland Turkey and only a 45 minute drive to the hotel from the airport which meant we left home at a reasonable time and arrived at the hotel in the early afternoon, time to grab some much needed sunshine! (The temperature at this time of year saw daily maximums between 26-31C which was spot on for us!)

The hotel is beautifully located on a gorgeous sandy beach and was totally refurbished in the last 12 months to a standard that would not be out of place in a 5 star West End location. We had a junior suite which had a beautifully large terrace with our own double sun bed plus chairs and a table, all overlooking the calm sea - quite idyllic. The room was very well apportioned with a very nice en suite and all the extras you would expect. If we had one criticism it would be the lack of storage space, particularly the wardrobe - other than that it was very comfortable indeed.

The service was very good indeed with friendly staff and as mentioned elsewhere, Idris on the front desk was first class and extremely attentive. The food in the restaurant was very pleasant with a good selection every night which varied throughout our stay and the waiters were formally dressed and very pleasant indeed. (Maybe the management should try to ensure that the guests for dinner wear at least smart casual)

As mentioned above the beach was very nice indeed and we never failed to get sun beds at the front, just a few yards walk into a very calm and relatively warm sea. Staff come round as one would expect and take your orders for drinks and looked after us well. The pool is a very good size and slightly cooler than the sea but beautifully clean and well maintained. Additionally we used the spa on more than one occasion and was very good and certainly compared well to London prices.

We wanted a chilled break and that was exactly what we got and couldn't have asked for more. We did hire a car for a few days and went over to Kyrenia and up the Karpaz but other than that our only sorties out were the 20 mins walk / 5 minute taxi journey to the old walled city which is certainly worth a visit.

Overall a great holiday and brilliant venue with friendly attentive staff. Ideal for a relaxing break and a fabulous place to chill out

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view

Five nights very sweet spot. We slept like babies there. Sound of the waves, full moon and sunrises. Half board meant breakfast and dinner included. Excellent food even we are vegetarians. They went out of their way to please us. Staff and waiters were great, humorous, and taking care. The morning sunrise over the ocean is heaven. Newer hotel, nice spa, two pools, sauna, etc. This is perfect if you want to just swim, walk on the beach, read, eat and relax a few days. The people of Northern Cyprus are very nice. The pharmacist near the big roundabout was typically generous. Checked the paper and gave us the posted exchange rate when we needed Lira on a Saturday afternoon when all were closed. She then closed her shop to drive us to another place that we were looking for in town. First rental car was comical-out of a movie it was so beat up- but they graciously replaced it with a nice car the second day when we asked. We were impressed at how clean the city was compared to many countries. We booked with a travel agent and got a better rate.

Room Tip: Ocean view magnificent. Otherwise, its a parking lot view on the west side. The ocean view is stun...

This is the second time staying at this hotel and it was every bit as good as the last occasion. I have read about the reception and lift being small but who spends time in those areas!! Our room this time was a junior suite which was luxurious compared to a standard room - certainly recommend this if staying for any length of time. The beach was perfect (so too way the weather) and the dining each day superb. The food is varied and of a very good standard. What makes this hotel special is the quality of the staff - friendly and efficient. I would certainly recommend this hotel for a lazy beach holiday - with realistic expectations you will not be disappointed.

Room Tip: Go for a junior suite which is seaview - stunning views

This is a truly excellent hotel, despite the brochure we booked through giving a somewhat different description of the immediate surroundings than proved to be the case. What it is, is stylishly decorated with luxurious facilities and delicious food. Service is attentive, staff are enthusiastic about making your stay enjoyable and the hotel is spotlessly clean throughout. Set right on the beach with shallow, crystal clear water there are plenty of places to enjoy the sunshine. The outdoor pool is set in a landscaped area and there's also an indoor pool and spa to enjoy. We liked this hotel so much that we extended our booking to stay additional days. If it's somewhere to unwind and relax you are looking for, this hotel certainly fits the bill, do try it.

Room Tip: Definitely ask for a sea view as otherwise the rooms look out onto a car park.

Try it???
Short walk to the walled town 10 mins takes you into the old Famagusta and the old cobbled streets and some modern shops ( No hustling) and a taxi (£3.00) back and then the self service dinner...looking out over the beach and the lapping water....A couple of drinks in the terraced finished off the night.....GRET>

Room Tip: OK for young children to play on the beach but little for the teenager to do.

Returned on Wednesday 24th Oct 2012 and what the last few reports say :- I can add but little....A excellent run Hotel and from the start a good welcome. We were greeted with the best words YOU HAVE BEEN UPGRADED...from a B & B booking we were offered half board and how glad we were.
From the first day sitting on the breakfast balcony overlooking the empty but well kept beach eating an excellent breakfast to the last day......Unable to fault this hotel ,staff and food...........(The only "problem" was that the customer service person IDRIS was an Arsenal fan )you can't win them all.......
.A TRULY GOOD HOLIDAY>>>>>>>>>>>A short walk to the old town of Famagusta to the walled town and it's old fashioned streets and a few lovely bars and back to the luxury of the PALM BEACH HOTEL and brand new facilities/clean rooms/and the cooling swimming pool e Near by -"NO MANS LAND" DMZ zone what a difference in sights...
I would RECOMMEND this hotel to anybody who likes good of service and amenities and above all brilliant polite staff.

Room Tip: Some rooms over look the car park entrance to if you want ask for the sea views....Good for young ch...

My husbanding myself have been guests at the Palm. Beach on numerous occasions prior to it closing down for three years .The hotel is now fully refurbished to a high standard.the location is in my opinion one of the best locations in Northern Cyprus standing on a beautiful stretch of sandy beach.
We have just spent one evening there whilst on a visit to the island .The hotel has the most beautiful decor and all to a high standard. The beach furniture and umbrellas are also very stylish. We found the rooms to be to a high standard with lovely decor and had every amenity

Staff could not have been nicer and any more efficient.

There is an outside pool with fabulous loungers and also an inside pool .

Dinner is buffet style lacked a little imagination but as we only dined there one evening cannot really comment.Breakfast again buffet style and had. Everything you would want.

Hoping to return for a.longer period of time next time we visit North Cyprus.

Room Tip: Try and have room overlooking the sea and watch the sunrise
