Whenever we are in Famagusta we stay at the Arkin Palm Beach hotel. The staff are excellent, the breakfast is superb and the beach/pool facilities are very good. Our only complaint was that the bathroom door didn't close properly and despite reporting it twice it was still not fixed.

In general, this is a nice hotel, but it depends what you're used to. I would rate it as a 3.5 to 4 star hotel for the following reasons.

Although the hotel is situated on the beach, it's not necessarily the nicest of beaches - you're better off going further up the coast - in terms of a picture postcard view, the hotel faces the deserted dilapidated buildings left after the 1974 war which are currently under UN protection are simply an eye sore.

The food is very average with copious buffet choices, most of which lack any flavour and designed to accommodate the masses. You won't get a 4 or 5 star experience with the food.

It's the small details that make the difference of a good hotel, such as housekeeping replenishing items on a regular basis without having to ask, i.e. toilet paper, q-tips, soap.

The air conditioning is inferior. There are no remote controls for the air conditioning so you have to get out of bed if you want to adjust or turn it off/on.

If you're OK with an average experience, then you won't be disappointed, but if you're used to and want better, you should probably stay elsewhere.

Room Tip: 3rd floor - sea view

Arriving to any holiday destination with a missing suitcase is not a great start (thanks Turkish Airlines!). However, even before we checked in, the staff at Palm Beach made it their priority to chase the airline and retrieve our luggage. We were reunited within 12 hrs.

The hotel has had a recent refurb and is beautifully decorated. Rooms are well appointed and comfortable but be warned that there are limited family or interconnecting rooms. As a family of 4, we spent the week with one child each. Not the end of the world but not how we wanted it.

The hotel has two pools, both beautifully clean
And never busy. The private beach is adjacent to the hotel and immaculate. The water clear and warm. The only issue we had with the pool was the constant stream of day trippers who paid to use the pool/ beach. Some were lovely but others we loud and course with their language. Several decided to bring their own music to the pool side?!? This wasn't challenged by hotel staff.

The hotel food is outstanding! I say this as a seasoned hotel traveller who has experience 5* in the Far East , Europe and Central America. Simply put, it was incredible, varied and beautifully crafted.

Great hotel

A wow small luxury hotel. On a golden beach alone in Famagusta old ghost town.
Sharp professional service that keeps the high price.
40trl for sunlounger pp or go next public beach with 5trl pp.
Excellent dining options. Small portions though

A fantastic stay in the north side of cyprus. Completely away from the hustle and bustle of busy kyrenia. This hotel has all the amenities needed for the perfect week away. We rented a car so that we could visit the marina and Girne if we wanted to. The beach is what stands this hotel apart from any other. It is warn and clear and we spent most of our time swimming. Good Turkish Cypriot food. It is quite strange seeing other abandoned hotels nearby but this adds to the historic element and even more private.
