I think it is outstanding hotel, rooms are very clean, food are so fresh . Specially at winter time it is very good because the location of the hotel is at the city center.
The hotel have different architecture , ı would go there again it is recommended.
We also hired a car from pacific rent a car they are very good company.

Having been to the Colony Hotel for drinks in the summer I knew this was a hotel that I wanted to stay in, so we booked for two nights. Upon arrival the hotel is very impressive and it was beautifully decorated for Christmas. We checked in and found it most strange that we were asked to pay for our room straight away rather than when we checked out as you do in most hotels. So we paid as requested only to be told that we would be given the change when we checked out! We thought this very strange and instead gave the exact amount, and also found it strange that we were not given a receipt for the payment.
We were showed to our room, and was very impressed with the decor and attention to detail. The rooms are well furnished, comfy bed and nice bathroom etc. The roof terrace and terrace bar are beautiful, however the bar is extremely over priced, 33 Turkish lira for 2 large beers, 1 small beer and a Nescafe which is around 16 Euros. But for the standard of the hotel we expected the drinks to be over priced.
After a nice meal out in Kyrenia Harbor in the evening we returned to the hotel around 11pm and went to the roof terrace for drinks. As we approached the roof in the lift you could hear the extremely loud music and as we walked onto the terrace you could not hear a thing! Every Saturday night there is a live band starting at 12pm midnight till 2.30am Sunday morning, however the hotel forget to tell us this when we made our reservation. We stayed and listened to the band for 5 minutes but as it was so loud we could not it any longer so decided to go to bed. Unfortunately when we went back to our room on the 3rd floor the music was just as load as it was on the roof! the level of the noise was unbelievable and I have never heard anything as load as this in any hotel that I have ever stayed in. My husband called the reception at around 00.20 am to ask them to turn it down and to ask when it would stop, they said they would call our room back, but the never did. We then decided to go down to the reception to speak to them. Even in the reception the music was just as loud as it was in our room on the 3rd floor. They told us that it is a problem they have as they have live music every Saturday night and there is nothing they can do about it but apologize. At 02.10am I phoned the reception again as it was still as load and had been on now for more than 2hours! The music finally stopped at 02.50am. But then the staff decided to move the roof terrace furniture by dragging it along the floors for another half an hour which vibrated all the way through our room. It finally went quiet around 3.30am.

We asked to speak with the manager, but we could only speak to manager of the front desk. We told them how disappointed we were and how unacceptable the noise level was and that we should have been told when we checked in. We asked for a refund however they would not give any money back. They admitted that they have a problem and have the same complaints every week however there is no attempt to rectify the situation.

If you are planning to stay at the Colony make sure that you are not there on a Saturday night as you will hear the music throughout the hotel, wether you want to hear it or not! I would ask to stay in a room either on the 1st or 2nd floor so you do not hear footsteps on the roof.

The breakfast was OK but nothing special. The hot food on offer was luke warm and only a selection of 3 things. There was also a selection of fruit and nuts, bread and some small pastries.

We stayed for 5 nights 5/11 to 9/11 2009, and frankly couldnt wait to go home. Our stay was on b/b basis and we were horrified at the extortionate prices they were charging for things like a cup of coffee ie TRL 6 (almost £3.00) and the mini bar well!!! We bought some juice to take home with us and that and the 2 small packets of nuts were confiscated by the Concierge. The night before we left we asked for them back and they had disappeared from behind Reception. What a surprise! The pool was too cold to swim in and unless you enjoy Casinos, theres nothing else to do. No newspapers, no music (only 1950s!!!!) Glad were home.Nightlife was non-existant.

We stayed in the colony for 4 days. First the positive things: Excellent located in the city of Kyrenia, large rooms with first-class furniture and outstanding breakfast. But unfortunately there were some issues which avoid to feel us comfortable: Horrible prices at the Mini bar (€ 10,-- for 0,25 liter vitamin drink), striclty forbiddance to take any mineral water to our room (if you try the hotel staff stops you and withdraw water) and some of the waiters are arrogant (if you are not a VIP). In total we dont feel cosy and will not come again

We stayed D B&B. Dinner for 7 nights. Menu variety was limited. Breakfast had 3 hot choices ie something like beans, scrambled eggs. sliced sausage. Re-supply was slow. Additional cooked items were an extra.
Front of house Reception were unsmiling and had difficulty with English.
Our room wasn't vacuumed whilst we were there. Dirty glasses in our room were left unwashed.. Our hairdryer broke. We only got a replacement by badgering Reception.
Dinner on the Vista Terrace was disappointing as the hot plates couldn't keep the food hot.
Hotel has an impressive frontage an an excellent pool on the 4th floor.

A 5 star hotel gets its rating from attention to detail; the Colony lacked this in significant areas during our vist September 2009.
There was wifi in the rooms, charges apply but if you didn't bring your laptop with you you had to hunt out an internet cafe.

Beautifully decorated & wonderfully clean throughout. The place has a feel of quality. The staff were all friendly & helpful. The location is good, close to shops & a short walk to the castle & harbour.
The views from the terrace are wonderful once you look past the immediate town centre surroundings. The pool area on the roof is lovely but can suffer from lack of shade as umbrellas have to be taken down in a strong breeze. Towels & mattresses are provided. I expect it would be cramped at peak times as there are only about 40 loungers in total.
Bar prices are too expensive so most people seem to go elsewhere. Restaurants are good but may not suit all; wide choice of buffet food at breakfast is mainly mediterranean including olives & cucumber but v. limited hot for instance.
Only minor niggles regarding an otherwise fantastic holiday.

What a beautiful hotel.
We stayed at the Colony hotel for 2 nights whilst travelling within Cyprus and were amazed at how gorgeous the hotel is. The rooms are beautiful with an extremely comfy bed and all the luxuries of a very good 5 star hotel. We stayed bed and breakfast, and the food was delicious.
