We arrived late evening to a warm welcome. Our suite room was very hot, the air con unit in the bedroom would not remain open a piece of cardboard helped. The sitting room with sofas, tv etc was unbearable as the only air con in the suite is in the bedroom. Shame it was a waste of money. The staff seemed helpful and more so after tips. Dining room was like a 70's Spanish hotel nevertheless it was clean and the breakfast adequate. The evening meal was more suitable to a rest home and did not appeal to us. The hotel Itself felt like being on a seniors outing which is good if you were on your own and liked to mix in.
In the stairwells it was very hot. The room had a key card which you had to remove upon leaving the room, this meant that no air con was on until you arrived back. With not efficient air con it took ages for the bedroom to cool down and still the sitting room remained unbearably hot.
The fridge which did keep on in the bedroom had a sign saying no food or drink to be brought into the hotel.
The bar snacks were fine.
The best thing about the hotel was the lovely pool which should have been peaceful except there is building taking place behind - thank goodness it was spasmodic and at the weekend it was quiet.
At the rear of the hotel there is a small shop selling everything a holiday maker would need. Turn right out of the hotel and at the end of the road is a taxi rank, bus stops and lots of general shops, cafes, fruit shops and an exchange bureau.
A taxi ride from the hotel into town is 10 (the rate of exchange locally was 3.6 average)
We ate out every evening. We ate in the harbour club which was poor, the six brothers the steak was perfect. Niazi's was lovely for the mezze (which they special in) beware of the cats. outside. Other places were OK can't even remember the names. We had a super proper coffee and cake in the Rocks hotel would recommend.
We took a boat trip which was not very good. We were told a free drink on arrival and if the other boats stop in one place they would go past and visit later during the trip (all lies). We were unfortunate as the boat had a large French and Russian Group on board. The children ran everywhere and dive bombed into the sea from all parts of the ship jumping on anyone. The captain could not have cared less.On our first stop It was clearly an arrangement with other operators had been made for parascending boats, jet skis banana boats etc for people to enjoy themselves along with headbanging music Then the party boat moored up alongside complete with load music and everyone enjoyed a foam party. The music was all load and brash. The third stop was in front of a building site with rubble thrown all over the rocks into the sea.
The scenery was horrible, and nothing at all like the tranquil trips we had experienced so many times in Turkey.
The food was fine - which was all I could say about the whole day once you are on board there is nothing you can do.

Room Tip: with a balcony overlooking the garden or front not rear rooms as a new building is taking place

Arrived 10 June to a very warm welcome from staff. Felt we were back home love this place. As people have said carpets are marked but these were all replaced 2 yrs ago it's the guests who mark them not being too careful how they treat them. We were treated as usual with respect kindness nothing is too much trouble. Mehmet is a bit over the top but he has only been there a year and needs to calm down a bit. The menues have been changed you have to consider this is a small family run hotel and food waste has to be a minimum. It's a very relaxing hotel wind down and enjoy.

justt returned from sammys hotel,
the worse room we have ever had ,we had no balcony
the owners refussed to move us to a room with a balcony
as all have been booked by people who always pre book theses rooms and go year after year
the place felt like a nursing home ,dont go bed breakfast and evening meal, as the meals are like the old style blackpool bording houses of the 1970 s
the hotel is very clean fresh towels and good bedding ,good helpfull staff the oners not so good as they do not interact with customers ,
location to frount twenty minuets ,hotel in the middle of a councal estate.

Room Tip: get a room with a balcony not room 101

Just returned from another stay at Sammys, still the same warm welcome from everyone.
The hotel is basic, very clean and also very welcoming, there is building work going on behind hotel but does not start at 7am and does not go on till dark. There is no building work going on in the front of the hotel, and you do get dogs barking occassionly but this goes on in all Med countries.
The planes from Uk touch down in turkey for 40mns the most,NOT hour and a half.
If you want a warm and friendly relaxing holiday then Sammys is the place to go.

Just spent another relaxing week at Sammy,s Kyrenia. This place may not be 5 star but you are treated as 5 star! it cannot be faulted, is excellent value for money, we'll run by Mrs Sami and her son. The staff go out their way to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. Mehmet, Umit and Turan are a credit to the hotel and always make us and all the guests most welcome. No request is too much for them, probably the reason why the holiday makers return year after year. Rooms are cleaned daily and towels replaced, poolside is immaculate with plenty of sun beds and seating area. The choice of food menu may not be as extensive compared to more expensive hotels but breakfast choice is reasonable, and the snack choices and evening menus are well prepared and tasty. The location is ideal to explore Kyrenia, well served by a regular bus service. Bellapais is only a short taxi fare away. And If you book a meal in one of its fab restaurants it usually includes free pick up and drop off back to the hotel. The cost of meals and drinks are cheap across the region and your pound will go a long way compared to many holiday destinations. There are many excursions to enjoy, cheap car hire if you prefer and I recommend a boat trip from the harbour, ( the lads on the ' Prences' boat made our trip memorable, many thanks chaps!). A visit to Karpaz peninsula ('pan handle' region) is a must for it's famous Golden beach and crystal clear blue waters (even for those of you who only like to paddle your feet)!; areas of protected natural beauty including Turtle beaches, the Donkey sanctuary and monastery on the tip of the pan handle. North Cyprus is such a beautiful, unspoilt, relaxing, stress busting place to visit with the most friendly people, I wish our stay could last longer but we will definitely be returning in the future.

Room Tip: Room 201 overlooking pool and mountain in background, although no balcony but clean and quiet.

Just returned from Sammy's for the second time it is as friendly as ever, there is some building going on behind the pool but this won't last and was of little or no consequence, Umit, Memmit and Turan all long standing employees as always go flat out to please. And the room was was spotless and the bed very comfortable only moan i have is that the tea bags and sugar were not replaced F.O.C. if you wanted more you had to pay for them and the wi-fi didn't function on the 3rd floor.I will certainly return again and again

Just returned from two weeks at sammys so called relaxing hotel .they are building right behind pool the banging starts at seven am until dark non stop . front of the hotel more building work all around non stop.the hotel is situated twenty minutes walk from the harbour in the middle of a council estate .dogs barking non stop .place is a total tip with litter everywhere .hotel is in a time warp with thick stained carpets sea views no way some rooms have no balconies just a window.same old cronies meet twice a year think its great . Harbour really nice , to get to a beach twenty minutes on a bus after a ten minute walk to bus stop while twisting your ankle on run down roads.the pictures of the hotel if you notice are all from above as to hide the surrounding area.also don't forget the flight stops for an hour and a half in Turkey so flight time six and three quarter hours.my advise give it a wide berth.

Room Tip: There is none
