We arrived quite late at night and was presented with a free upgrade to a sea view room which was a very large family room and had a fabulous view and an extremely large veranda. The hotel appears to have been refurbished but in the typically Turkish way not finished as you would expect. That said we really enjoyed our stay. The hotel was very clean, breakfast buffet was varied and if you wanted you could have eggs cooked to order, the three swimming pools were great and we never had a problem getting a sun bed. Beach areas man made but there if you prefer the sea. Also a concrete arm with sun beds was available if you don't like sand! The waiting staff were always polite and helpful in finding tables or clean cutlery etc as some of the tables were outside, under cover they were always busy. It is about a 40 minute stroll into Kyrenia centre or you can take the Noddy train that runs a couple of times a day from the hotel or there are always taxis available. We hired a car from our rep, a bargain at £18 per day, we were supplied a Ford Fiesta that suited us well and allowed us to explore all of Northern Cyprus, which us really worth doing. Drinks at the pool were very expensive, we didn't eat in the hotel but would suspect that poolside food is also expensive. There are plenty of local bars or supermarkets if you fancy a stroll and save money. The only complaint we had were the reception staff, they could have been more helpful. They suggested we use the poolside showers as we could not keep our room and we had a late departure. They were advised that that was unacceptable when we would have spent our last day enjoying the sun and then have a long journey home. Subsequently they advised that the spa may allow us to use the showers there. Upon checking with the spa staff who were really happy to accommodate us we paid equivalent of £5 each and they supplied us with all we needed. If only the reception had dealt with our enquiry in a better manner, they are no doubt asked the same thing on a regular basis!! Overall wouldn't hesitate in returning to Oscars if we visit Northern Cyprus again and recommending to friends and family. Northern Cyprus is still an unspoilt little gem that us both very reasonable to get there and whilst you are there. However for some people it may be too quiet as there are very few shops that close early in the evening and apart from bars and restaurants not much to do at night.
