We stayed at the St George for 9 nights end of June - beginning of July. We travelled with friends and we had booked 2 rooms online about 4 months before the trip and needed another room in last minute that we booked directly with the owner. Everything went smooth, no problems, gave us same price.
We found the accomodation very nice, the appartments are not very big, but very well equiped, everything is new, cleaning done daily (special thanks to Nora) and overall we enjoyed very much our stay.
The hotel is very well positioned, right next to St Lazarus and very close to the beach and promenade, 5 min walk, but still very quite during the night so we had no trouble sleeping, except maybe for the ocasional scooters passing by, or the shop owners that were playing backgammon every morning on the street, but i guess you cannot blame this on the hotel.
i would highly recommend this hotel, good value for money.

We only stayed one night to be near to the airport for an early flight the following day. When we arrived there was no receptionist but there was a telephone number to call. A very nice lady turned up who was very helpful. However, the room was really tiny - everything seemed in miniature - and the bathroom was especially difficult for me. I'm not Twiggy but neither am I Hatty Jacques and I had terrible trouble getting in and out of the bathroom! There is sliding door that only goes 'so far' which means you have to get through a gap between the edge of the door and the sink to get in. Whichever way I tried to get in either the sink or the door was right across my stomach and after a few trips my tummy was quite sore. So if you're bigger than a size 16 you could have the same trouble! We were in Room 24. I must say the place was very clean - couldn't fault it for that. The air con didn't adjust very well so was blowing to the opposite wall instead of on the bed. The night we stayed the daytime temperature had been 42 degrees. I felt as if I was going to explode I was so hot. Added to that the bed was extremely firm - hard in fact. For young SLIM couples who want to be near the beach the location is fabulous. Not a lot of storage space so as long as you travel light it could be a good spot to stay for a week or so.

Information for travelers who have not pre-booked in Larnaca to be wary of the following:

The owner of Tuck Inn Studios at 95 Athinon Avenue on the Larnaca’s sea front has a new establishment near St Lazarus Square named St. George.

It appears that they are taking advantage of “walk-in’s” at Tuck Inn, their sea front venue, to take travelers through to their new establishment further back from the sea front.

This in itself is no problem - it is the fact that they confirm availability at Tuck Inn, quote a rate – breakfast included. When this is accepted, they change their story saying they do not have availability at Tuck Inn but that they can accommodate one at their new venue at the same rate, including breakfast. However, this all changes when one arrives at St George, their new venue!

We had a situation where staff had confirmed that they had availability at Tuck Inn. The staff called the owner to check on the rate and the owner confirmed availability and gave a rate which included breakfast. When we accepted, his wife then called her husband (the owner) again and after their conversation, she told us that they did not have availability at Tuck Inn but that they could give us a room at the St George at the same rate, including breakfast.

When we arrived at the St George we were told they only had a two-bedroom unit which they expected us to pay extra for. We thought this unfair as they would have known this before we left the Tuck Inn and could have been upfront and honest with us. They finally gave us the room at the rate quoted and after paying for the accommodation, we enquired where the breakfast would be served. This is when we were told that the breakfast was no longer included “because we had a bigger room” – despite the fact that we did not want or need a second bedroom and had no intention of using it.

They reluctantly agreed that we could still have the breakfast but then insulted us immensely by sending a lady directly up to our room to lock the door to the second bedroom and remove the extra towels, small soaps and shampoo bottles. In all the years we have been traveling we have never encountered such treatment. On occasions when it has been out of peak season, as in this case, we have been accommodated in a bigger room where we were not expected to pay extra and where we have not abused or taken advantage of any situation.

Apart from this "bad taste in the mouth" experience - the rooms themselves were not bad. It was not exactly spacious but basic and adequate and with being new, it was clean.

Just be warned of their tactics.
