“Peaceful retreat in great corner of Cyprus”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 June 2014

This is a great quality hotel, excellent grounds, facilities, pools and beach.

Incredibly friendly staff, many of whom have worked for the hotel for many years which says it all.

Only slight critisism is that hotel restaurants were on the expensive side but many fine restaurants in Latchi 5 mins away

We stayed here for 9 days during the middle of May. It’s about an hour’s drive north of Paphos and the setting of the hotel is beautiful. This hotel really looks the part. The main buildings, pools (both indoor and out) and private beach are all excellent, exceptionally clean and well maintained. We stayed in a Junior Suite which although roomy was on the side of the hotel so no decent views, which was a shame. The kids club was great and the staff excellent, a real credit to the hotel. In fact all the staff were very pleasant and helpful (apart from one miserable barman who quite clearly didn’t want to be there) and in general I’d have to rate the hotel pretty highly. However, this place is expensive, very expensive and sometimes needlessly so. When did 4.50 Euro’s for a 250ml diet coke become acceptable? No free water in the rooms, 70 - 80 Euro’s for dinner in the main restaurant which is a buffet, self service and although good, not amazing. Drinks were on top of this and the wine was ambitiously priced. For my wife and I each evening meal was pushing 300 Euro’s with one bottle of wine. Mind you it was effectively ‘all you can eat’ as it was a buffet, but not what you’d expect in place like this with the reputation it has. We had a 4 month old baby with us, and although there are 3 restaurants in the hotel this is the only place we were allowed to eat. This seems strange for a hotel which markets itself as child friendly. Really disappointed we were unable to sample the other restaurants. The menu in the pool restaurant and main bar was limited so by the end of the 9 days we had eaten everything we wanted to - twice. I was tempted by a steak in the pool bar but at 90 Euro’s just couldn’t bring myself to. The hotel seems like its single handedly trying to rescue the Greek economy.
So, I’d recommend not going for longer than a week, canvas the hotel to open up the other restaurants for your children and have very deep pockets. Good but not anywhere near as good as it thinks it is.

Room Tip: Try to get a room overlooking the beach

It is a pity but Anassa is getting worse... 70 euro for a dinner without drinks, a poor selection of food, high price for water! Spa is also overpriced.. The staff does not understand English well. Room service is like a Russian roulette. Bed linen is not very nice. But the nature, sea, the Hotel itself and privacy are the best! But if you pay 300 euro for each dinner or lunch for a family of 4 (no drinks included), it is overpriced.. As the food quality is average

Dear Мария Б,

Thank you for taking the time to write a review regarding your recent stay with us and we do appreciate all feedback from our guests as we are constantly striving to improve our services.

I was sorry to read that you felt the hotel did not offer better value for money in certain areas however we do pride ourselves on being able to offer an extensive selection of Restaurants at various different price levels depending on guest requirements. We also offer a wide range of treatments in the Spa that allow guests to experience the tranquil surroundings, again on several different price levels.

I do hope we will have the opportunity of welcoming you back to Anassa at some point in the near future.

Kind Regards,

Impressive hotel near small village of Latchi. From Pathos airport about a 45 minute taxi drive. Lovely wide open spaces. Has slight monastic feeling with vaulted arched ceilings. Service and staff wonderful and can see why it is rated so highly. Outdoor pools not heated but beautiful indoor pool near spa and fitness centre. Quiet areas if you want to get away from children. Had a lovely week here but would advise visitors to hire a car to explore the island unless you really want to spend the whole week just soaking up the sun. Food and drink in the hotel are expensive. Glass of Prosecco about Euros 12,50 and a flute of champagne Euros 16.50. Went half board and choices for breakfast were good. You would be hard to pleased if you couldn't find something you liked. Soya milk available for those who want it. Gather restaurant separate from hotel and personally I felt I was slightly pressurised to order wine. Evening buffet meal again good choices (themed evenings) but would have preferred dishes with not so many sauces . Separate from hotel but run from the hotel's beach are various water sports facilities. You can even hire a small self-drive boat, for an hour or two, (driver extra) or a larger cruiser if you want to tour the island and picnic with your friends. Captain required (again extra of course) for the larger cruiser). If hiring a small boat unless you are skilled advise you hiring someone to drive. Many people snorkel / scuba dive in these waters and it is not easy at times to spot them though understand they are supposed to leave markers on the surface to indicate their general position in the water. Gather there have been a few incidents in the general area. If you are a single traveller some might feel slightly intimidated, one person I spoke to did,but when I went to things on my own I met with nothing but kindness and helpfulness.

Room Tip: Had a junior suite with a view over outdoor pools and sea. Lovely to wake up to.

This is supposed to be the best hotel in Cyprus and there are certainly good things about it. We had a great panoramic suite overlooking the sea, the staff are mostly very friendly (give or take some of the macho pool attendants) and you never feel particularly crowded in. The breakfast is quite dull and I would avoid the dinner in the main restaurant (which is ALWAYS a buffet). Dinner in the other restaurants is quite good though unremarkable and Helios in particular has a hotel lounge feel to it. What is very odd for a hotel that places a premium on being family friendly (and there were lots of kids there) is that children are only allowed to eat in the main restaurant in the evening (ie with the buffet). We spent three days there with my brother, sister-in-law and their baby and I think they found it a bit grim only having the option of eating a buffet for dinner. Bear in mind too that there aren't really any good alternatives to eat out of the hotel.
And, be aware, everything is VERY expensive.

This is one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in. All the reviews mention families and we are not fans of hotels that cater for kids - however, although there were kids there, they never seemed to be in close proximity - the hotel is so vast you can always find a quiet spot. We went to celebrate our Pearl Anniversary and spent three nights there - we were treated so well, nothing was too much trouble! On our first night, the manager sent us fizz and handmade chocs, it was lovely! Also a card from manager and staff. There are three lovely restaurants in the hotel as well as the pool bar... we ate in the buffet restaurant on the Mediterranean and International buffet nights, there was everything you could wish for! We also ate in Helios which was a bit more personal and the food and service were second to none. We did want to eat in the Basilica on our last night but it was full, I would have liked reception staff to have told us it was popular and to book on arrival if needed as we were disappointed not to try it. The room was excellent and we had everything we needed and more - a night service each night with a lovely flower on our pillows! It was a brilliant way to celebrate our anniversary and we will not hesitate to re-visit in the future!

Room Tip: The garden rooms are nice but if you want a view of the sea as well, go for one on the second floor!
