“Fab Family Holiday”
Reviewed 5 November 2013

What a lovely hotel. We booked at the very last minute (less than 24 hours before travel) so we weren't sure what to expect. We arrived very late and were booked into a family room. This was quite small for 2 adults and 2 children especially as our eldest is 13. It would be perfect for 2 children under 7. The air conditioning system was very noisy and kept us awake so we asked to change rooms the following day. The Manager Harry was amazing. He was very patient and considerate. We were shown 3 potential other rooms despite the hotel being incredibly busy and we were very happy with our change of room. We got the impression that the management would have been very accommodating whatever our request might have been or for whatever reason. All the hotel staff were incredibly attentive and polite. We were on half-board and normally I get really sick of the food by the end of a week away but the buffet was high quality food and changed every evening. Breakfast, lunch and dinner were all delicious. We were also extremely happy with the HEATED pool. It was the perfect temperature and this is one of the only hotels we have been to where the pool has been properly heated for October/November. We have tried Aphrodite Hills in Cyprus, the Abama in Tenerife and the Princess Yaiza in Lanzarote and all their pools were too cold out of season. Not so Le Meridien. Swimming is important to us as a family so we were really pleased about this. They also had an excellent water slide which is always policed by a lifeguard and was enjoyed by all ages from toddlers to teenagers and even the odd grandparent. The other important thing to note was that although there was the usual 6am scrabble for sunloungers Le Meridien had the most sungloungers and umbrellas we have ever seen at a hotel. Okay you may not be up early enough to grab the prime spot but there was always a lounger and an umbrella you could use and Le Meridien has the space that you can always at least be in the area you want to be in - excellent. The beach was also beautiful and the sea lovely and calm. Excellent waiting staff would patrol both the gardens, pool and beach serving drinks. Very efficient and we never had to wait for anything. We also really liked the gym and studio which were really accessible near the main pool and not buried in a basement as they so often are. We loved all the activities on offer and all the exercise classes were of a good standard (that we tried) and free. The entertainment in the evening was also fun. We liked the fact it wasn't in your face and you could choose to join in or not. A really big thank you to all the staff who really were so friendly and always unfailingly polite. It is one of the best hotel experiences we have had overall.

Only two tiny constructive criticisms were that they did have a slight issue with the drainage and every evening you did get a whiff of sewage. Not pleasant but hopefully something easily sorted. Also, totally understandable for the time of year, but we were led to believe that there were 6 restaurants but in reality 2 of those were pool bars which were shut in the evening. Of the other four, one was Le Fleuri which was the breakfast/lunch/dinner/half board buffet. Of the other 3 we only managed to visit the Japanese one (lovely and very pretty) as they all shut in rotation or were closed for private functions. We would have loved to try the Taverna and have some fresh fish but it was either shut or had private functions when we were there. None of this effected the quality of our holiday though and we still had a lovely time.

I would definitely return here. Well done Le Meridien!

Room Tip: Make sure you get a room overlooking the main pool and near the lifts. Also, ask for one that has a...

Great experience - we loved the staff! The sports staff is great - always so helpful and great to engage with. The food was really great, but the wait staff is exceptional. By the last day, it was like saying goodbye to people you really liked! We would highly recommend this resort. In October, every day was sunny and perfect.

Room Tip: We had a room with a view - fantastic. We drank Baileys and Kaluha on the balcony every night.

Too many thank yous, to too many friends! We miss our paradise in sunny Cyprus, and are already longing to be back! Thank you for making our 2 weeks so special, they make the other 50 bearable. See you next year.

This was our third visit to Le Meridien in 4 years, spending 10 nights during the October Half Term. Having not had a break all year, we REALLY needed to use the full 10 days doing nothing but recharge our batteries.

With the exception of the check-in and check-out experience, the service we received as returning customers was exemplary from ALL the other staff we came into contact with. Nothing was ever too much trouble and because of the attention to detail and helpfulness, we really didn't need to worry about a thing the whole time we were there.

The main pool tends to be too raucous for my liking, so we always pitch up at the sea water pool next to the Lagoon Bar, which is an oasis of calm by comparison. Dusan and Miroslav run an excellent bar service and we were always looked after by the excellent Napa if we needed to reserve a table for lunch.

The main part of the Lagoon area's charm is the fact that it isn't too big, so it would be a pity if it became much, much bigger after the planned refurbishments next year.

The only gripe I could level at the hotel would be for the continued poor state of the surface around the sea water pool area, which gave all of us a splinter or two during our stay. Hopefully, this will be rectified once the refurbishments have taken place.

Le Fleuri buffet restaurant was particularly excellent this year, with a thoroughly pleasing spread of food, all of very good quality on each of the themed evenings. The best restaurant in my opinion was the Kojima Japanese this year. Excellent Teppanyaki chef.

It is clear that the staff enjoy working at this hotel in the main, and they appear genuinely delighted when they see that you are a returning customer. Most of the staff have been here for years and there appears to be a very low turnover, which is the exception in the hotel industry and speaks volumes in terms of "end user" experience.

This year we had 2 interconnecting Family Sea View rooms on the 2nd floor, which were huge. Yes, everything is a bit outdated, but it's all clean and not really a problem.

Excellent kids club, which you would need to go a very long way to find better. Beautifully kept and maintained garden areas. Very nice Spa experience if you need someone to massage your overworked and stressed muscles.

There's a Mini Market called Double Point about 5 minutes walk up the road outside the hotel if you need to buy a few provisions or sweets for kids (and girls' sunglasses that don't cost 49 Euros - Hotel shop!).

Every 15 minutes, there's a bus that runs into Limassol from outside the hotel for 1.50 each way, which we took the kids on one evening for something to eat on Castle Square.

Nice beach for a paddle, or a bit of peace and quiet and plenty of free sunbeds.

Thank you to everyone for making our holiday this year such a lovely and relaxing break. It was really necessary that we had a proper holiday doing nothing and with no worries. All of you really delivered, with the exception of check-in and check-out, so Well Done and see you next year!

My family, 7yrs led boy and 4yrs girl, had a wonderful 10day stay at le Meridean. The god was excellent and the facilities as you would expect, but what really set the hotel apart was the standard of service, from the guest manager who was on hand to deal with any issues to the staff cleaning the rooms who always had a pleasant word and we're eager to help with any requests, they couldn't be faulted. The decor is a little tired and rooms could be a little noisy, but the service was fantastic.

Visited limassol 2 years back with my best friend and it was our first time. While in the taxi driving towards the Hotel, we were worried because we could see nothing but the gate. But as soon as we passed the gate, all the fun started. Hotel was huge and amazing, it had so many swimming pools that you can benefit from “hot, spring, cold, etc”. It also had a wonderful private beach with rocky sands. The sea was so cold although it was summer time mid Jul. But we were told that this is the temperature of the sea at Limassol.

The room was perfect for both of us, view was amazing as we could see the pyramids (spa area) from the top, view of the mountain and perfect sun shine reflecting the beach. Bathroom was so big that it was half of the room itself. We had a welcome drink, fruits, and chocolates on our first day. We were advised perfectly on what the resort has and what we could do during the day.

We had an amazing experience in the spa “maybe it was my first time to sleep during a massage  “ and it was worth every $$$ and hours to spend there.

As far as for the resort, we had 4 days “day time spent at the resort” and “night time spent experiencing Limassol”. The day time was all about relaxing and enjoying the wonderful sights at the hotel. We could not have enough of being relaxed almost all day long. The hotel also offered so many bars, café’s and restaurants with different tastes so we had great food options on “where to eat today”.

An adviser, you may want to spend time walking around the resort because it is worth it. Try to use the beach mid day so it is warmer. Ask for rooms with full sea side views. Must have breakfast every day because the buffet is amazing.

I will surely visit the hotel & resort again…. Highly recommended for couples and honeymooners.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms with full view over the beach side over looking all pools..

After a gap of many years since my last visit to Cyprus, the reviews on Trip Advisor made the choice of Le Meridien a pretty straight forward one. The reality of the matter most certainly did not disappoint.

The rooms are spacious and well maintained. The grounds are large and beautifully landscaped. With multiple pools, from family to quiet, it caters for all tastes. The PADI dive centre located next to the Hotel was friendly and welcoming. It had some excellent options available for novice and experienced divers alike. If you have the opportunity, dive the wreck of the Zenobia, you won’t be disappointed.

The restaurants at Le Meridien that were open during my stay included Le Fleuri buffet restaurant, which had a different speciality each night. Other al la carte restaurants were Le Vieux Village (Cypriot cuisine), Kojima (Japanese) and La Trattoria (Italian). Visited both the buffet, Japanese and Italian and was very impressed as the menus were very varied. I have to say that I the food in each was fantastic. The Lagoon Bar provides a varied menu for lunch time – with both snacks, mains and desserts. The prices are certainly hotel prices but the portion sizes, make it very reasonable.

All that said, on any holiday, the Staff at the Hotel are a major factor to making it a memorable one. So, credit where credit where it is most definitely due. Costas Constantinou, Restaurant Manager and his Team were superb. The level of service they consistently provided was excellent. Their warm welcome and friendly banter / conversation made dining there a lovely experience. Special mention (and by no means exclusively) goes Napa, Violeta, Dagamara, Lori, Niki and Tundi. Andrea and Elena in the Promenade Bar were also a great asset to the Hotel.

If you want a hotel where you can relax, in great surroundings with superb service and excellent food, then look no further.
