“Another fantastic visit”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 August 2011

Another annual trip to the atlantica oasis and another great time. I think the eastern europeans are catching on to our paradise and was told they are booking about 25% of the hotel now!. We stayed all inclusive with Thomson/First choice and due to the value of the euro these days it was well worth going all inc. Upgrade at the hotel from s/c to all inc is € 50.50c per adult per day but an upgrade from Olympic operator for £28 per person per day. This was so much of bargain I advised my mother and brother to do the same when they travel to the hotel mid september. The food was fantastic and a top class presentation, with a variety that would suit anyone. The BBQ night (Tues) and a la carte (Thurs) are very popular and you need to book when you arrive to guarantee a place. This year we found that the quiet bar in the Gardens has been closed down now, which is a bit sad as we used to have a drink there while our son played pool.
Kids are well looked after with the kids clubs. Other daytime activities and evening entertainment has improved from previous years but still a queue at bars to order and present your signed receipt. I am open to questions after staying at the hotel and the gardens ten times or more :)

10 of us, including grandchildren, have had one of the best holidays ever. Kids loved the pirate pool, adults loved the adults-only pool. We booked self-catering but hotel has lots of reasonable upgrade packges available and the restaurant is EXCELLENT, one of the best ever - catering for everyone including vegeterians, even children have their own section. Not one complaint, very highly recommend.

Room Tip: We stayed in The Gardens, had air-con at no charge plus a fridge, reception even managed to get us 4...

This hotel is geared up for families and provides an excellent service. It is clean and well run.

The food is fabulous and the bar and bar staff second to none, they work exceptionally hard and provide a fabulous service. Demitri the bar manager was simply the best and nothing was too much trouble for him.

The only negative point for the hotel was that there was not always enough sun loungers.

We recently stayed at the Atlantica Oasis with our 13yr old daughter and can safely say it was our best holiday yet.

The hotel is lovely, check in was a breeze and first impressions defiantly count. The room was very spacious, clean and comfy.

The food was the best we have ever had in AI, lots of different choices, breakfast had all the usual but to a high standard, full english. cereals, fresh fruit, pancakes and pastries etc. Lunch and dinner also yummy and to a high standard with lots of choice for the more adventurous to the fussy eater. You had to wait to be seated greeted by the friendly entertainment staff which i thought was a personal touch. The waiting staff worked very hard and were always smiling and friendly, they take your drinks order which you sign for and then you go get your meal, you could also sit outside. At the pool bar you also sign for your drinks, there was never too long await to get your drinks.

The pool area itself was lovely, yes you had to get up early ish to get a sunlounger but this is the same as anywhere else in the high season, their was also life guards on duty, it was always very very clean with some shady spots and seats in the shade by the pool bar.

Activities during the day were great fun for all of us, run by the hard working entertainments team, my daughter can be shy untill she feels comfortable, but the team were great with her encouraging her to take part without being pushy. Their was water volley ball, water basketball, darts, french boules, aqua areobics
which was great, Zumba and pool games which was hilarious and got very competitive, run by Rick the entertainments manager who made sure it all ran smoothly. Alot of the games also had adults and then children to make sure it was fair. Late afternoon they had football which as you can imagine got very competitive, every Friday they had Managers vs Guests match, all keen footballers if you think your good this is for you, it was taken very seriously and beware the Managers are good so if you think you can take them on...Bring it on!!!! If all of this is not your thing though, just watching can be very funny and there is an adult only pool which is very quiet. Also while we were there they had a scarecrow making competition which was fun for adults and children and they had a Thompsons and TMC kids club which looked great fun for the younger kids.

The entertainment in the evening consisted of a film playing outside or shows in the ballroom this is due to no outside license but this did not matter to us. For drinks i seriously recommend the cocktails by the way, you went to the bar where a waitress took your order in the line, you could choose to have it taken to your table (remember your table number) or stay in the line and hand the order slip to the bar staff, who then just get on with the order thus saving time, yes sometimes the line was long but compared to fighting to the bar on a Fri/Sat night in England this is nothing.

The actual shows and games at night were brilliant and great fun, the place had a good atmosphere. There was a childrens disco with Vikki or Becca which the younger kids really enjoyed and after that Bingo which was run very professionally by Rick as it got very busy, one night the jackpot was 300 euros well worth a go. They had singing and dancing shows such a Broadway tunes, we were suprised how talented they were especially Matt and Becca who were great singers and Vikki is obviously a dancer, They also did quizzes and game shows, these were great fun with everybody getting very competitive, young and old taking part, you could see the entertainment staff also really enjoyed these games and wanted everyone to have a good time.

If you won one of the games during the day you got to do something called the "Dance of Joy" with Rick, by the end of the holiday everyone wanted to do it, really cant describe how funny it actually is....you had to be there!!!

The area itself is quite built up there is a very english pub over the road but we preferred to go to a bar called the 107 bar at the bottom of the road, there are also a couple of posh cocktail bars playing dance music oh and of course McDonalds. We hired a car and went to Aphrodites Birthplace which is a very beautiful surprisingly quiet beach, there is a cafe and car park at the top selling sandwiches etc but we went to a restaurant which is advertised there as being just around the corner,,,its NOT! make sure you go in the car its only a few minutes in the car along a narrow road, but well worth a visit, you can sit out and look down onto the beautiful beach, at night time i imagine its very romantic. The food there is amazing big portions of well presented tradtional greek food. The bus stop is less than five minutes from the hotel and they run every ten minutes into town for only 2 euros for all day travel, lots of bars and restaurants here, not very Greek but i recommend Nandos!!!

Overall we want to thank all the bar/waiting staff and especially the entertainments team Matt, Becca, Vikki and Rick who all gave 110% into their work for making our holiday the best ever, we will be coming back to this Hotel or another Atlantica chain again.

My boyfriend and I booked a week here from 24th July 2011 to 1st August 2011 with Thomason all inclusive.

CHECK IN
We arrived at the hotel about 2am and were greeted with a glass of orange juice and told that some snacks were awaiting in the hotel restaurant. Check in was quick, they kept our passports to input data and we got them back the next morning. Information about the all inclusive and the hotel was given to us on various leaflets etc which was very useful.

ROOM
We were located in the main hotel room 2616 which was a fantastic room. We booked a double room and were shocked to find a massive double bed, walk in wardrobe, LCD TV with british channels, CD player, lovely chairs and a beautifully decorated room. Prior to leaving the UK, I did email the hotel to check we were in the main hotel and not the sister hotel Atlantica Gardens. The reviews on that part of the hotel were not great but no one seemed to be complaining. The sister hotel is located across a small road, but you are able to use all facilities. That part of the hotel seems to be self catering and sometimes last minute bookings. The lifts broke down often and being on the 6th floor, was very annoying trecking up to your room in the heat.

POOL AREA
The main pool are was very big and busy with lots of children, so we opted to use the adult only pool for our weeks stay. The adult only pool had about 20 loungers and parasols and was quiet and relaxing with jacuzzi facilities in the pool. The hotel does state that towels reserving sunbeds before 8am would be removed and any left for longer than an hour removed. This was not the case however and towels were at the main pool from as early as 6am. The main pool has a pool bar but the adult pool doesn't so you have to walk to the main pool bar. But this didnt bother us too much. The adult pool was not cleaned the whole time we were there though. We are early birds and were at the pool by 7:45 each morning and it wasnt cleaned. You could tell this as there was bits of gravel etc at the bottom of the pool which you could see and feel under your feet. That was the down side.

MOCHA CAFE
The cafe located inside was a nice place to go to get drinks, cakes and some sandwiches or baguettes save you going to the main restaurant. You have to sign for everything you order and give your room number. This is the case even if you are all inclusive. Think they must be monitoring any abuse of the all inclusive. The signing takes place in the cafe, the adult bar and the main restaurant when ordering drinks. It can become annoying but wasn't a big deal really. Just make sure you remember your room number.

RESTAURANT
The restaurant was large and clean. A host takes you to a table and within seconds and waitor or waitress is there to take your drinks order (you must sign and give your room number) you are then able to go and help yourself to food. The food there is out of this world with so much choice for starters, main and desserts. Even the fussiest of people won't go hungry. It is amazing. The second you finish one plate, the waitors or waitresses are there cleaning away your plates. Amazing service. Drinks were brought within 5 minutes along with bottles of water.

ZETA BAR (adult bar)
The zeta bar was a nice place to chill out in at night. You could order various cocktails and were brought nuts and crisps as snacks. There was sometimes a singer. Outside of the zeta bar is the outdoor cinema along with tables and chairs. DIfferent films play each night and the timetable is on the notice board opposite the restaurant. Inception and iron man were amoung the films on whilst we were there.

BALLROOM ENTERTAINMENT
Downstairs in the ballroom is where the childrens entertainment takes place along with adult entertainment such as karaoke and shows later on in the night. There is a bar down there. There is no outdoor entertainment apart from the outdoor cinema which stars about half 8 - 9 and finishes about 10-half past.

WIFI
Free wifi is located in the reception/lobby area. You just need to ask reception for the password and they will give it you on a piece of paper. I could pick this wifi up at the adult pool and also in the zeta bar.

BBQ/A LA CARTE
These have to be booked days in advance as they get booked up. These take place round the back of the main pool. Unfortunately as we were only there a week we were unable to book these as they became full.

LATE CHECK OUT ROOM
We booked this before we left the UK and paid. This is the best thing to do as you get the room til 6pm and as we werent leaving til 9pm we didnt want to be out of our room by midday. It seemed difficult to get a late check out room there if you hadnt booked and paid prior to leaving the UK. There is however a room that you can book a slot for to use to shower etc if you do not have late check out.

LIMASSOL
Limassol isn't an area I would go to if you are looking to leave the hotel and visit restaurants and bars. Its a very run down area and there is no beach. This didnt bother us as we went for a relaxing week holiday where we didnt mind staying at the hotel. We did go for a walk a few evenings but went straight back to the hotel. There is lots of grafitti around and stray cats. There is a small fair close by thought and a Mcdonalds. Other than that the area is pretty poor.

Thomsons were very efficient with our transfers and I would definitely book a package holiday with them again. My boyfriend and I are looking into staying at the Atlantica chain of hotels in Egypt next year as we were very impressed. I would definitely go back to Cyprus as the weather was fab.

Think ive covered everything we came across on holiday but feel free to email me asking any questions and if you want me to send you any pictures of our room or pool area.

We stayed here early August for a one week AI.Our rooms were located in the Atlantica Oasis Gardens, rooms was spacious and clean with good air conditioning. The room was a little sparse but perfectly adequate for the numbers of stars this hotel has.
Although the Gardens is away from the main hotel it is less than one minute walk. The added benefit was a peaceful nights sleep by being away from the noise of the bars etc located in the main hotel. For us also, an added benefit was we had use of a pool behind the Gardens which kept us away from the majority of families and children who used the lagoon pool. As we were a party of two adults and two teenagers, both over 16 this was perfect.
Good tip is to get your towel out early on the sunbeds.....although the hotel has a policy of do not reserve beds, nobody moved them.
The food....well....ample choice, vast quantities and stunning quality - for all 3 meals of the day. Drinks were best ordered ahead of choosing your food as they were a little slow in bringing them to your table (unless you ordered bottled water or house wine and this was delivery instantly), but this is only because of the huge amount of people they are serving.
There was an English film on every night at 9pm outside of the Zeta Bar where you were encouraged by the waitresses to have yet another drink.....shame!!
Overall (this was my first taste of AI) all four of us had a brilliant break and would certainly recommend a stay at this hotel.

Room Tip: Request a room in The Gardens

As a family we decided that we wanted to stay put in the hotel each day and just laze around the pool.

We found a place around the pool we liked just in front of the bar and to our horror soon found out that I needed to be up reserving the beds by 5.45-6.00 am each day.

We noticed that the best placed sunbeds around the poolside were all reserved by about 6.30am latest each day and then the sunbeds further away from the pool were all taken by 8.00am. So if you want a sunbed next to the pool be prepared to get up for 6.00 am.

There are a lot of sunbeds & parasols at the hotel but get reserved so early.
