It is about time someone tackled the problems of misrepresentation by holiday companies when showing hotels on their websites that lead you to buy a holiday.Having been up since 3.30 am for an early flight and being shattered on arrival it is with absolute disgust that two adults and a fifteen year old arrived in their hotel bedroom to find it was literally big enough for a double bed and a single with no space in between, not one drawer except the one the hairdryer was in, a wardrobe which was not big enough for one person for a week let alone three for two weeks,(no exaggeration here) and a balcony that was just about able to sit two people on if you moved the bed to get to it and overlooked an run down falling apart apartment block overlooking the hotel car park. I felt very upset and very angry.... however this is a standard room and that is what we booked of course.Be careful of what you book. If the website had shown this room we would not of course have booked it... but naturally it dosent. I wonder why. So therefore unless you are prepared to spend extra money again to ensure a basic standard be wary. The Thomson rep Nikki was excellent however, so helpful at a time I could have just gone straight back home and after a couple of hours we were upgraded to a lovely room by the pool. This made all the difference and at least we felt we could manage two weeks. This hotel is lovely once you get used to it. It is not a plush hotel in the middle of an area with lots of things to do,There are nice pools, especially the adult pool and the indoor pool, There is an outdoor cinema screen which is excellent if that's what you want to do.Entertainment beforehand including bingo if that's what you want to do... very very noisy in the ballroom though and very hot when outside even in the evening. The entertainment team are very hard working and very friendly. The pools are lovely, big, well maintained. I saw at least twice a diver checking the tiles under the water as some were broken. It does get busy in the pool but that's what you expect in a family hotel in the height of the summer. The staff..... I cannot praise them enough... they make this hotel a better experience. They are so friendly, they work very hard, very polite, the bar staff(yes Dimitris they are excellent and so hard working), the restaurant staff..... all absolutely second to none. I only hope they are truly appreciated and valued. The food is excellent, lots of variety. Our friends son had his 12th birthday whilst we were there and the hotel gave him balloons, a birthday cake and a lovely gift in his room, all complimentary. That was lovely. The all inclusive is ok you don't need to buy the slush puppies or branded ice creams on display.... there are plenty of other things so you don't have to, you just need to realise not everything is included.Ask for large cokes as normal are tiny childrens cups and wouldn't last two minutes. Clean hotel as far as I saw just a bit run down. The welcome and leaving drinks and staff saying goodbye was a lovely touch. Limassol is quite run down but if you look there are lovely little coves to bathe in... travel on the bus to the old town and you find lots of beachside cafes and the beautiful old town is well worth a visit with little local shops alongside the usual tourist shops. Don't go there on a sunday to shop though as the shops are shut. Fassouri water park is excellent including pools to cool down in for those who don't go on rides. Ladies mile beach is wonderful with inflatables for children and cafes but you need to hire a car to get to it or the taxi will drop you at the end of a dirt track so you would have to walk a long way.Paphos a massive disappointment..we went to the tourist area of the harbour... might have gone to the wrong bit. Troudos mountains beautiful but there are not really any stopping points or little villages on the way up that we saw so it was a long trip.Thomson reps were very helpful but I was shocked there were not brochures available full of information about trips to look at etc... not even at reception. Very hard work trying to sort out where was best to go... had to keep asking the reps. Please just compile a book. Simple. The reality of this holiday is it is what you make it. I didn't find it amazing... I did however enjoy meeting some very polite people in a nice hotel in a beautiful country and being part of a real culture rather than a tourist hot spot.
