I have just got back from Atlantica Oasis and I have to say it has been one of my best holidays. My children are 6 and 9 and both of them were very disappointed when they found out we were leaving. Its great for kids as there is so much for them to do all day with kidzone , disco in the evening and a selection of pools to choose from. My children spent most of the day in the pirate ship kids pool. The food was out of this world , 100% first class , lots of variety and a good range for children. Not very good location wise though as there is not much to out of the hotel and as a beach lover I was very disappointed with the beaches as they are very pebbly and coarse. I'm just glad the hotel made up for it and I actually didn't miss the beach at all!!!

I have just got back from staying at the Atlantica Oasis on an all inclusive basis and I have to admit I was very impressed with the hotel. I had read so many reviews on here about the hotel that I was in two minds about staying here. Especially in Atlantica Gardens....

The room we received had been re-furbished and it was mentioned to us when we got our room key. The room was extremely clean and spotless and had a mini fridge but no mini bar. We were given a room on the top floor in the main hotel overlooking the Atlantic Gardens building. Not the best view but it didn't really bother me and my wife. It was just nice to step out on the balcony on an evening and enjoy the view of the mountains.

The hotel staff were very friendly and pleasant at all times and the food was amazing. My wife is fussy vegetarian and she loved the food here. I found that it catered quite well for both veg and non veg. We never really bothered eating at any restaurants as we didn't need to.

All local drinks were included for us and if you asked they even gave you bottles of wine that you could take to your room. The hotel bar closed at 1am.

The location of the hotel is just off the main road from the beach. If you want to see Cyprus you really need a car. We picked this hotel as it was central to all the surrounding cities and made travelling a lot easier. We rented a car and always found parking at the hotel when we returned. The old town is one of the main areas for shopping in Limassol, which you CANT get to by walking. You can either get a taxi or the bus which you can catch from the main road. As we had a car we drove there... it took us about 10mins to get there.. There are plenty of car parks there and you shouldn't have any problems parking.

There is a lot to see in Cyprus....Limassol is a nice place but you really need to venture out. Driving in Cyprus is really easy..... Everything is well sign posted and you really cant get lost. .. Once you arrive at the airport it worth just popping over to the tourist information desk and getting all the maps for the different cities/places.

Our hearts sank as on arriving to the beautiful main reception in the Oasis, we were informed we would be staying in the Gardens part of the hotel, across the road.. where we had read the many bad reviews about this. We even requested to be in the main hotel on booking with Thomsons, but this didn't happen as the main hotel was fully booked and we only booked 12 days before depature.

The room was very dated, and not like the lovely modern rooms we had seen pictures of and were expecting. However, the room was clean, and the maid Teresea couldn't do enough for us. We did ask after the welcome meeting if we could be moved, the rep tried but no luck.. So we decieded just to get on with it and make the most of the holiday.. and it was one of the best holidays we have ever had!! :)

Food
All inclusive was fantastic, it was our first time AI, and Cyprus is so expensive. All meals were delicious, and we recommend booking the BBQ night and al a carte night, which is inclusive of AI. Snacks are also available from the Mocha cafe. Oh and the cocktails in the evening from the adult only bar Zetas we scrummy.

Entertainment
During the day there was volley ball and water polo in the pool and quizzes. If you wish to escape this you can go around the adult pool which is very peaceful. Evening entertainment was a bit rubbish, bingo followed by a half hour of singing in the ballroom. the was also an outside cinema screen which showed films at 9pm every night and also the England game was shown here. Drinks are served until midnight. On the last night we thought we would give the bingo a go, and we won the 168 euro jackpot, so im not going to speak bad of the bingo!!

Loacation
Limassol is not our sort of place.. A Mccdonalds and pizza hut are up the road and scruffy beach that we didn't wish to go on. Lots of busy roads, it really is a 'concrete jungle' but we did book this knowing what it would be like as we had never been to Cyprus before and Limassol is in the middle on the island. We hired a car for 2 days, which is the best way to explore the island and see some of Cyprus. We reccomend going into the troodos mountains where little traditional villages can be found. Nissi Bay in Ayia Napa is a beautiful sandy beach and clear water. We had a picnic provided by the hotel as part of all inclusive.

weather
It was 30 every day and beautiful blue skies.

Overall we would go back to the Atlantica Oasis again as we loved all the food, drink and attractive public spaces. A previous review said about there being lots of tattoos and rowdy families. This would be our worst nightmare, and we didn't find this at all. Other guests were nice and not greedy/wasteful with the food as I thought this may be the case going all inclusive). The staff were nice, and work very hard.

We booked to stay all inc at the Atlantica Oasis in Oct 09 ALL INC. 4 adults and a 3 year old. We turned up and were put in a room which our balcony lead out onto a flat roof i believe was above the dining rooms. That was fine for adults but having a child it was a bit dangerous, as if she had stood on the chairs she could have climbed up on to it. Plus it was over looking the side of the building next door, where we requested a pool view. Other than that all i can say is that the rooms were lovley, the cleanliness was top spec, the food was brilliant and so much choice, in fact no one could be dissapointed as there is foods even for fussy eaters. Guaranteed to pile on pounds. Cake selection brilliant especially in the cafe. Nothing generally costs on the site except for a saftey deposit box which is about £12 per week but for peace of mind well worth it and also the little shop on site obviously charges. All inclusive is the way to go as cyprus is really quite expensive, and for on site at Atlantica Oasis to buy food and drink every day would be expensive. For example £4.70 euro for a bottle of Smirnoff Ice and £4.70 for a chicken baguette. The other thing that is avaliable on site but you have to buy is bags of crisps, but i think they were only a euro a bg. There is a little shop directly across the road from the hotel what sells allsorts including things for the kids for the pool. There is always something on through the days watersports, water fitness, bingo, pool side quizzes. The childs pool is great. Shallow enough and a little pirate ship with slides running from it for all ages. I just think that some of the kids are a little too big for it as lots of babies were in there when we went and sometimes they can be a little too bolshey. Sun beds all around the little pool so you can keep your eye on the children. The evening entertainment was good, kids disco, bingo, quizzes, and some singing from the entertainment team. The girls and the 1 man were very good at what they done but it seemed the entertainment for kids disco was a little to grown up for the younger kids. We thought they have some characters dressed up for the younger ones or something to that effect, but they played things like musical bumps and for 2 or 3 year olds it was a bit difficult. There was a beach approx 5 minutes away which was quite nice. You will have to pay for sun beds there. Also a macdonalds about 10 minutes down the road. Limassol oldf town is a cheap little place to get to. Approx 2 euros each return which you can catch the bus directly from the macdonlads. Overall i would rate this hotel quite highly and would be definatley consider going back. Weather was great for october too, approx 35 degrees every day some slightly higher. Staff good, most quite friendly and helpfull and very efficent, but by god some were damed miserable, and why they were working with the public i will never know.

We were excited to stay at the Atlantica Oasis in Limassol after reading the many excellent reviews on Tripadvisor. We had chosen carefully, and annoyingly could have stayed at the Elias Beach for a similar price, which we now know is a far better hotel.

Room:
Our main issue was the room we were originally placed in. For a four-star hotel, this room was not what we expected. It was very shabby, with a bathroom not refurbished since the 80s, a double bed and a single bed oddly pushed together, what looked like a small cooking area even though we were not self-catering, and balcony overlooking a grotty car park. In addition, we also got stuck in the lift one evening!

It wasn't until speaking to another couple later in the holiday that we realised there were much better, recently refurbished rooms. After talking to our rep, we were told we should not have been placed in the room we were in, and were moved but only after our rep argued with the hotel on our behalf ("well, they're in the hotel - what's the problem?"). The new room was very nice - but we had already spent 7 nights out of our 10 night holiday in the shabby room!

Cleanliness:
We can't fault the cleanliness - even our earlier room was kept spotless.

Food:
The hotel did redeem itself on the food. We were all inclusive, and this includes main meals as well as coffees and cakes from the coffee shop, local drinks and spirits in the bar and poolside drinks, including water. Food was fresh and of great variety, with plenty of options for vegetarians.

Location:
Another disappointment - the hotel is surrounded by buildings and other apartment blocks, one of which was a building site. This means no sea view or even a view of the Cypriot hills, leaving a kind of 'penned-in' feeling.

It's a short bus-ride to the old town, or if you wish to stay nearby there's the Nag's Head pub across the road with endless karaoke and a few nicer bars about 15 minutes walk away. Or get a cab (10 mins) up to the Elias Beach/Grand Resort area in the evening for many nice restaurants. If you wish to see more of the island, hiring a car is best - don't get stung by the trips on offer by the reps which are costly and not very good!

Entertainment in hotel:
Just think 'Benidorm'.

Overall verdict was one of disappointment - our only saving graces were the weather which was fantastic and the quality of the food and drink.

One final point to note about the hotel is that it does seem to attract large (often rowdy, and with plenty of tattoos) families - not really a place for couples wanting a nice quiet holiday.

When travelling to Limassol, try and get one of the hotels in Eastern Limassol (Elias Beach, Grand Resort) - this area seems much nicer and far more convenient.
