Reviewed 13 October 2011

You can not fault this hotel for its cleanliness, comfort and its chic & modern feel. We first came here nine years ago and although we thought the hotel was wonderful then we are truely wow'd by the modernisation over the years. The hotel gets better each time we come!

Our one little concern, is since Cyprus changed currency to the Euro the prices have rocketed.
For a plastic cup of coca-cola at the hotel pool bar will set you back €6, which is over £5. If you pop over to the shops you can pick up a small bottle for €1.20. However, the Hotel do have two Happy Hours, one at 6-7pm & 10-11pm, which were very popular. We took full advantage of this whilst watching the evening entertainment on some nights.

The whole of Cyprus seems to be expensive including the restaurants not just the hotel. Don't let the expense put you off as the area 'Limassol' and this hotel are perfect for a relaxing holiday.

have just returned from an 11 night stay , overall the hotel is lovely but but the inland view rooms are extremely noisy . I know that i had booked and paid for an inland room but there should of been some mention of how noisy this would be the main road traffic is constant and gets worse in the early hours of the morning with boy racers and music from nearby bars. On the 3rd night i eventually got moved to a ground floor garden room which was a nicer room and quieter , but i know there were sea view rooms available on our 1st night but unless we were prepared to pay 30 euro's a night extra they would not move us as i said i did not care about the view i just wanted some sleep of which i did not have any for 3 nights.
When you have paid this much money for a relaxing holiday this unacceptable !

Room Tip: do not bother with an inland view

An absolutely lovely hotel. All the staff couldn't do enough for you, so kind efficient and friendly. Only stayed B & B but the breakfast was fantastic, everything you could want, when we go again though would definitely book half board as the food looked lovely. Ate out every night so can't comment on meals or entertainment. Pool area beach all very clean and plenty of sun beds! We had a lovely sea view room on the top floor, room 606, got the sun almost all day through.Spoke to quite a lot of people there who had gone year after year, so that speaks for itself. We have been going abroad twice a year since 2000 and always said there are far too many places to visit to go to the same place twice. This is the only place we would ever return to though - cannot fault it -anything you want to know please ask.

I came here for a family holiday in August this year and it was superb! :) When we arrived the reception staff couldn't be faulted and could speak very good english which is always helpful after an overnight flight! We had an ocean view room which was beauitful and very very clean,. Once we got settled it was early morning and the sun was amazing already so we decided to take a walk around the hotel to see what kind of things were available to us. I noticed the road outside the hotel was very dangerous with the drivers in Cyprus being abit mental and the road is on a sharp bend, so if you have young children with you I would advise them to be very careful! There was a shop near by where we managed to get some juice ect for our room which was cheap and cheerful as the shop within the hotel was quite expensive.

Once we got back to the hotel the reception staff told us that Breakfast wasn't available for another half an hour so we went back to our room and put our stuff away and the reception called us and said if we wanted to go down now that was fine. The breakfasts were amazing! So much choice of fruit and cooked breakfast and cereals and a chef made waffles and pancakes infront of us (they were to die for! chocolate, banana and strawberry,, YUM) We were only staying B&B so I can't comment on any other type of meals but if they were anything like the breakfast they'll be fab.

The grounds within the hotel were of a very good standard with LOADS of sun loungers! and the beach was beauitful! There was beach sport which we all done, (even my 82 year old grandmother!) Paragliding was fantastic! A great experience. :-)

It was a great holiday for all the family and I would defiantly go back. x

Room Tip: If you are thinking of booking up for this, definatly get a Sea View Room.

My wife an I, along with two other friends have just returned after two weeks at the Mediterranean beach in Cyprus. This is the sixth time we have been to the hotel and the standards are still very high. All of the staff are very friendly from senior managrment down and are always ready to help. There is a wide range of food available to suit all tastes and i always look forward to the buffet breakfast which very good. The hotel is very clean and when you return to your room at lunchtime it is very obvious that it has been cleaned. There are plenty of chairs and parasols on the beach and in the gardens for everybody however,it is sad to say that some people still see the need to place towels on chairs at 6.30 in the morning.

Room Tip: All rooms are very good

We've been here in June 2011 with high expectations as we'd seen the pictures and the reviews. The reality: the room smelled oldish and damp, the air conditioning didn't work properly and made a lot of noise and the majority of the rooms had twin beds - not recommended for young couples, even if they are described as Deluxe Rooms.
Exept the rooms, the resort is well maintained, the pool is nice, even if the poolbar has not a very large offer, the personel is willing and helpful.

If you want to have fun, this is not the place! The hotel restaurants close at 10 o'clock and outside the resort there are no bars or restaurants available after 10:30. So, all you can do is buy something to drink from the nonstop minimarkets across the street and enjoy them on your own balcony. Not a blast!
This happens as the hotel is meant for families with children so ...

So, if you're looking for some fun also in your holiday, go to Ayia Napa!

Dear Reviewer,

Warm greetings to you from Limassol!

Thank you for taking the time to write a review on our property, which we consider constructive and part of the on-going process of improving our service levels here at the Mediterranean Beach Hotel.

However, I feel that I should address a couple of the points raised, as follows:

-You mention that your room “smelled oldish and damp”, and that the “air conditioning didn’t work properly and made a lot of noise”. While I do appreciate that all service establishments, such as our hotel, may experience a technical problem at any given moment, however, it is always our policy when this is eventually reported by the guest, to have it repaired on the spot. Therefore, I would appreciate that you let me know by email, if the issue concerning the A/C was reported to our staff at any point during your stay, and if so, whether this issue was sorted out. Your feedback will obviously help us to conduct an investigation into the matter. As for the odour in the rooms, I would like to assure you that all guest rooms, as well as public areas, were fully renovated just over two years ago, therefore, there is no reason for you to have experienced such a feeling at any point during your stay.

-With regards to our restaurants, it is indeed true that the Celeste Restaurant closes slightly earlier, but in case you were not aware, the Ristorante Bacco and Shumi Sushi Bar, both close at 23:30hrs (last order at 23:00hrs).

-As far as the Lagoon Pool Bar is concerned, I have to say that there is an extensive drinks and snacks menu available during the daytime, and this outlet is then replaced by the Blue Bar and Clouds Lobby Lounge, which are both open until 01:00hrs.

Thanking you in advance for your kind understanding with regards to all of the matters raised and subsequently addressed by myself.

Looking forward to having the opportunity to be of service to you once again in the not so distant future and assuring you of our best intentions at all times.

We visited the Med Beach Hotel for a week in late Sept 2011. We didn’t have an ocean view room so we were on the side of the traffic (not ideal but ok). We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely consider going back.

FOOD & DRINK
We were HB and enjoyed both breakfast and evening meals at the hotel. There was a great variety of choice at Breakfast including cereal, fruit, pastries, fry-up, pancakes, waffles etc. The list is extensive and all the food was good quality. There was the choice to eat inside or outside although sometimes you had to wait longer for a seat outside. Service was generally good with most of the waiters happy although there were a few times we had to wait a while to order drinks.

There was a variety of themed evening meals including the cuisines: Cyprus, BBQ, Mediterranean, Marco Polo and Mexican. These usually included a large choice of meats, veg and rice all of which were very high quality and very tasty!

We also tried the Italian restaurant Bacco (reservation needed). The food here was amazing – it’s just a shame it was so expensive! As we were half board we got 10 euros each towards the bill (barely enough for a starter!). We thought this was not very good value for money at all. The meal cost us 42 euros which we thought was too expensive considering we were already HB!

Drinks were generally expensive. For example, around the pool: Small slushy 350 euros, large slushy 600 euros, ice cream 250 euros. Cocktails from Clouds bar: starting at 8 euros each – but were delicious!

ENTERTAINMENT
We didn’t see much of the hotel entertainment but the parts we did see were average. There were a few singers on while we ate and there was a fireworks display one night.

HOTEL GROUNDS
The hotel grounds were really nice. There were gardeners maintaining the trees every day and it was very clean. Pool area was really great - loads of beds with sunny and shady areas too. There was some noise from trimming the trees near the pool area but it didn’t really bother us.

The beach is just a short walk to the bottom of the hotel. Dark sand, clean with loads of sun beds to choose from. There was seaweed just as you enter the sea and it was quite hard to see into the water but the sea was very popular with the guests.

There are quite a lot of cats/kittens around the hotel and Limassol in general. A lot of the hotel guests would feed them as they hung around the food areas. Usually very friendly and wanting attention!

LOCATION
The hotel is on a very busy dual carriage way. This has its advantages and disadvantages. There are loads of shops/restaurants/bars if you walk either left or right out of the hotel. The shops were relatively cheap compared to the hotel so we found ourselves eating lunch outside of the hotel as well as buying ice creams/bottled water too. Our favourite restaurant was Franx just across the road, great quality of food and great service. We also tried Johnny’s which was further down. Really great value for massive meals!

The busy road did mean that we couldn’t enjoy sitting on the balcony. It also took a while to get used to it so we could sleep. The hotel would probably benefit from thicker glass and curtains as we heard a few guest complain about noise!

ROOM
Room was spacious and clean. A/C was great. Bed was firm and very comfy.

Small TV was fine although there wasn’t many English channels. The TV would allow reception to send out messages so you would know what the food was for that evening...great idea! Although didn’t work every day. You could also keep track of your bill on your TV too.

Minibar very expensive! Only other thing we would have liked was some dressing gowns!

Room Tip: Choose a sea view room - it's worth the 200 euros extra! Buy your drinks and lollies from acros...
