“A Pleasant Experience”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 August 2014

Just got back from a week at the Pefkos Hotel and we were happy with it on the whole. Spent the first night in a second floor room overlooking the pool but were told on arrival that we would be moved to the fifth floor the next day due to changing of the fridge (!) Double bed too small and as other reviewers have pointed out, the decor can be a bit 'tired'.

We then moved to room 507 for the rest of the week. North-facing and therefore cooler during the day with a wonderful view over the city to the Troodos mountains, this room was large and very agreeable. It is on the side way from the main road and so quiet, apart from a yapping dog not far away which fortunately settled down at night. Grab it if you can. Double bed seems good and firm on first acquaintance, but actually not that great for the back - you feel every vibration and movement from your partner. Poor water evacuation from the bath/shower, but otherwise a great room.

Generally a friendly atmosphere, but sometimes conflicting information and experiences. The lady at the reception desk was incredibly upbeat and enthusiastic on our arrival, but then went through a variety of moods during the week. We took half-board and were told that we could order the meal pretty much when we wanted, but when we ordered the evening meal at seven-fifteen, we were told that the kitchen only worked from seven-thirty. As other people have said, the food is ok, but nothing more. Large quantities, very meat, chips and salad based. The breakfast is better than one might expect from a 'Greek' country, but at 8€50, as marked on the bedroom door, heavily overpriced. Other people have remarked that it's always the same, and this is true. Only hard-boiled eggs are available from the buffet. I asked nicely for a fried egg and got one every day with good grace until the last morning when the Romanian server, on duty in the morning for the first time during our stay, told me that 'they didn't do this in the morning.' So no egg, which, as we were about to leave for the airport, left us with a negative final impression. Shame.

One last thing. Other people have commented about the strange situation of the hotel, neither here nor there. I would strongly recommend renting a car because nothing is really close. The real beach is much further than a kilometer away, though you do have a very creditable swimming pool at the hotel (12.5 meters long) and in the shade from about 4pm. You'll probably get exasperated trying to find the hotel each time when you come back in the evening. There's no simple route even with a GPS. We only got back without making a mistake for the first time on our last evening !

Room Tip: North side, away from pool and main road.

We choose the Hotel right after realized that booked in advance hotel with great sea view located right on the noisiest and busiest street without trustful cafe in closed neighborhood. Se we left the first hotel and moved to Pefkos. And we got money's worth!
The location was quiet, except small children garden but it is not the same as construction nearby or motors noise throughout the night! The view on the top floor in the evening hours is perfect!
Personnel is most hospitable, but the breakfast isn't very variety. which is ok, as soon we noticed most of the hotels offer the same breakfast menu.

I stayed here with a big group of friends from Greece only once. We did not book the hotel ourselves but others had arranged this for us. We did not have the choice of choosing the hotel this time and it was a bit disappointing.

The staff was ok and checking in was smoother than what we expected.

I had my room on the top floor, but the floor was wooden so everybody could hear each other walking. Even the slightest chat on the phone in the next room, or a cough could be heard, and in all it was always noisy not only from the noise outside but noise was coming from everywhere.

The room was clean all right! The bathroom was ok as well and I did not expect much anyway.

Continental breakfast with the usual bread, cheese and eggs and some marmalade, coffee, tea, ham and sausages. We also had our dinners at the restaurant of the hotel and the food was ok.

LOCATION: It is in a peculiar location, not far from the shopping centre but not close as well, so somebody needs to get a bus to get to the centre which is not that convenient.

What I remember as positive was the garden terrace and the very small refreshing pool which is mostly for youngsters but late at night this place gets noisy as well.

WI FI: Internet access is ok downstairs by the bar or the restaurant but it is still slow. If you need internet in the room…..forget it!

For what it offers I find the price a bit high. There are better hotels much cheaper and closer to either the beach or the centre.
Staff was polite however and they did their best to meet our needs to the maximum.

I was travelling alone, for business.
The hotel is clean, with low level of occupancy during tourist off season period. The bus N19 is passing in front of the hotel, but the route of the bus is not convinient for a tourist (it's not passing through main tourist areas). Also the bus frequency is at each half hour (about), while you can reach by walk the city center in about 20 minutes. For this reason, I will say that the position of the hotel is bit unconvinient: it's not in shopping area, not in tourist area, not close to the beach, not close to business centers, with low support from public transport.
It's not in a quite place either (this I was looking for), as the street Misiaoulis is busy and noisy evening time. When a motorbike was passing near the hotel, I had the feeling that it is in my room.
Breakfast is included, but little bit average (cold cuts, boiled eggs, cheese) - same thing every morning. Due to not many persons in hotel, I refrained to try the local restaurant, I did not noticed many persons serving the lunch and dinner at the hotel's restaurant. Maybe summer time, during the season, it's more animated.
There is a swimming pool, a place where youngsters meet evening time, adding few more decibels to bikers' nosiy evenings.

The Hotel is situated off the beach front, nice and quite, On this occasion I was a single traveler
I was given a large double room with balcony. Could have paid double in the sea front hotels but this was a great hotel at half the price Clean and tidy family run hotel... Only thing I missed my full english .... but after all I am on the continent ... However highly recommend

Room Tip: request a room with sea view overlooking the pool

Although clean, which is a great issue, the hotel has nothing to offer. The breakfast is not something special, the staff is dull and sometimes rude, like the waiter who serves the breakfast and dinner. All rooms has a wifi connection but you have to pay a card which is very expensive (10€ for 3 hours and 20min). There is a free internet connection at the caffee/bar but again you will pay for a drink.
I asked for a mains plug adaptor, since I forgot to bring mine, and I was charged 2€ for that.

Once again I took the family to Cyprus for our annual holiday; again we stayed at the Pefkos Hotel in Limassol. This is a quiet hotel family run. You may think I am bias as I have been using this hotel for the past 37 years and now we are looked after by the 3rd generation of the family. The hotel is adequate for all our needs and the staff are so friendly there is no need for us to go to a more updated hotel. My grandchildren love the swimming pool and all the staff are so good to them. They are 4 and 2 years old so you can see they cater for everyone. The food is of very good quality and the breakfast I would class as more continental but adequate. The hotel is a short distance from the town centre and quite a way from the tourist area. There are buses that run from outside the hotel to the town centre and a short walk will get you a bus to the tourist area. The alternative is to get a taxi. You can order the taxi from the hotel and then you can be assured that you will not be cheated. Beware there are some bad taxi's around the tourist area who will rip you off. Just to conclude if you want 5* accommodation then this is not for you but if you require 5* service then this is the place to go, the staff will bend over backwards to ensure your stay is a pleasant one. I am already looking to book for next August.

Room Tip: all rooms are double glazed, but i do think the rooms looking up to the Troodos mountains are the qu...
