“fantastic in every way”
Reviewed 16 November 2008

Returned a week ago from a 7 night stay at the Atlantica bay with my mom and sister and what a fantastic time we had. We cannot fault anything really. Every member of staff was polite and friendly and worked extremely hard. The food was plentiful and of very good quality - you won't go wanting even on half board! I am vegetarian and was spoilt for choice. The drinks package was excellent value for money. You can have drinks that fall within this package pretty much all day from 10.00 a.m till midnight and include water, soft drinks, cocktails, local spirits which tasted pretty close to the english equivalent! The entertainment team - Adam and Johnny - were great fun and worked tirelessly to ensure a good time was had by all, in fact my mom says they made her holiday. It was very easy to make friends there and we may end up returning to the Atlantica Bay with 2 friends we made out there. With respect to the comment of the location, it's clearly stated that the hotel is in a very quiet area so guests should be prepared. If you want lot's of places to explore and shops etc then this is not the place for you. Easy to see why so many people return time after time. We were sad to leave and will return, but not soon enough unfortunately. A big hello to the team, particularly Adam and Johhny from Doris, Bob and Ness!!

My wife and i have just got back from a weeks stay at The Atlantica Bay. What a great time !!! The Hotel was superb, the staff were friendly, Especially Adam & Johnny the Thomson Gold entertainers, who kept us laughing the whole week and made us feel so so welcome (even though his constant referel to me as Yaki Dah was childish..lol). The only tiny criticism is that it is in the middle of nowhere, the town and other more populated ares is a bus or taxi ride away, bus is 1.5 euro and taxi is 10 euro each way. But if your happy just to stay on the hotel complex then this will suit you. I advise if you don't go all inclusive to upgrade in the hotel to either drinks or full all inclusive upgrade as drinks are very expensive. But these are all minor things. We had a great time and we will be going back there for years to come !!!!!

One final thing the weather was AWESOME !!!!

my wife and i , have stayed in this hotel nine times this year not one thing we could find fault with. pool area was great, and did not have to get up for drinks or snacks. the waiters were fab. we went all inclusive, food at meal times was out of this world. night entertainment was great too.we went even in febuary, weather was lovely, and still could not fault it. overall, they have been the best times of our lives. will never go any where else.thank you atlantica bay and staff.

This was our 2nd time at an Atlantica Hotel (first being at Paphos). We chose the hotel because it was a Thomson Gold Hotel and as we were going away without our kids we wanted somewhere that didn't have loads of kids around.

We had done our research before we went, knew the hotel was isolated and we chose the all inclusive option. Some people who were there had booked half board and then just paid for an all inclusive drinks package when they got there. All inclusive is the best option as drinks can be quite expensive especially with the Euro being so poor at the minute.

We arrived at the hotel and were met with a welcome drink, smiling staff and were quickly given our room keys. We had upgraded to a Superior Room which overlooked the pool and the sea. The extras in the room were fruit, slippers, wine and bathrobes.

There was a lovely patio area with sofas, tables and chairs which overlooked the pool and the sea and was lovely just to sit out and have a drink. Staff were always on hand to bring your drinks. There was also a bar at the pool and also one over at the beach (which is across the road). The beach wasn't the best I have been on. We tended to stay by the pool. The Thomson Gold Entertainment team were excellent during the day and there was always some cheesy game to take part in but you were not pestered if you didn't want to do this.

The food was very good. It was a buffet restaurant and there was always lots of variety. If you are all inclusive you get one visit to the A La Carte Restaurant included. This was also excellent.

Entertainment at night centred mainly around the Thomson Gold Entertainment Team however there was often a cabaret act on whether it was a singer, group, comedian etc. It was cheesy but a good laugh.

The hotel is isolated and there is nothing much around but there is a bus which takes you into Limassol town centre and runs regularly. We also done the trip into the mountains in a 4 x 4 jeep which was a really good day out. Our driver was really funny and we had a great trip.

There was 6 of us in total and we took part in a lot of the games and quizzes during the day and what a laugh we had and made lots of friends(something we probably wouldn't have done if it had just been me and my husband).

All in all we had an excellent holiday.

Returned after 2 weeks at the Atlantica Bay. First impressions of the hotel were a little uncertain. There is some building work going on and our room did overlook some of this. Rooms themselves are quite spacious but could do with a little updating. However they were clean.

We went for the all inclusive option which i would recommend as the drinks are expensive. The staff were falling over themselves to give you beer, cola, milkshakes, frappes etc, etc! Food was also excellent with varied meals on offer. Also there is a great gala evening on a wednesday - really nice and the staff pull out all the stops.

Entertainment is a bit like Butlins - Aimed squarly at the English but is good light hearted fun all the same!

Nice pools with plenty of sunbeds. There is also a really nice area just off the beach with grassy terraces and a bar - good for some peace and quiet away from the activities around the pool!

The beach is not fantastic - pebbles and also a fair bit of litter which is a shame. But there are the usual water activities on offer - Canoes, banana boats etc.

Great scuba diving school if you are a diver - The zenobia wreck off larnaca is an outstanding trip.

Overall it is the staff who make this hotel - Go all inclusive and you get great value for money. With a bit of TLC the place could be perfect! But I still loved it!

We have just returned from this hotel having booked a very last minute deal to escape the awful weather here in Scotland. We stayed for a week on half board basis and were delighted with the hotel and staff. We had a sea view room which was worth while, as others have said, the building site around the hotel was not exactly picturesque ! The location suited us as we enjoy walking and like to get away from the usual tourist strips most places have. There is an interesting archaeological site nearby, within walking distance towards Limassol, and there is a marina at the St Raphael & Meridien hotels in the opposite direction. We last visited this hotel about 5 years ago and it was quite isolated, so we were very surprised to discover much construction around the hotel and in the general area. As we were half board we ate every night in the hotel and the food was excellent, both in variety and taste, although there are a few restaurants within walking distance of the hotel towards the Elias & Grand hotels. We have frequented the Santana restaurant owned and run by a charming couple, Modestos & Claudia. The food here is very good and although we did not eat here this time we stopped for drinks and saw that the food was the same high standard as on previous occasions. We ate once in the A la Carte restaurant of the hotel at no extra charge, and it was a pleasant change from the buffet menu. The portions appeared quite small, but this is deceptive as we were unable to finish the meal ! The staff throughout are friendly and helpful, especially Maria, Guest relations manager who helped the check in procedure to flow smoothly and quickly. As we were repeat guests we received a bottle of wine & water with a basket of fruit in our room on arrival. We decided to take the drinks included package( 18.37 euros per person per day ) which meant we also received tea/coffee facilities in our room. The all inclusive package is 25.63 euros per person per day, but as we don't eat during the day this was not an option for us.The drinks option includes all soft drinks, water, local draught beers, wines, cocktails and local spirits. In the heat we were constantly drinking water and soft drinks throughout the day and were therefore hydrated without thinking of the cost. Our room was spacious and the bed very comfortable. The pool areas were good and the only downside is that many people reserved their sun loungers very early in the morning by putting towels on them and then did not appear until several hours later. Having said that, we always found a lounger around the larger pool, even if we went early afternoon. The poolside entertainment was daily, but not obligatory to join in and did not prevent the use of the pools. Evening entertainment was mixed and the resident duo were average, but their choice of music was easy listening. On Tuesday evenings there is the Gala dinner held outside in the pool area, but it is a buffet meal, so there was a great deal of movement amongst the tables. Overall, we enjoyed our week here and it was bliss to wake up every morning to sun and heat. For people who have never visited Cyprus and want a fairly quiet hotel this location is perfect, but there are plenty of places to visit and trips can be arranged either with the tour operator, or through local agents who are located not far from the hotel towards the marina. Although it is a Gold hotel there were children of all ages but they were well behaved and they did not bother us, although some people thought that there would be no children at all. This should be borne in mind if you want a child free environment......it's not !

  • Liked — Cleanliness throughout, friendliness of staff, quality of food
  • Disliked — Guests reserving sun loungers !

just back from 10 days in Limassol. The hotel (inside and outside are clean and generally well looked after). We were looking for 10 days to relax - the hotel is suited for older people and honeymooners - 6-7 miles from Limassol heading towards the East of the Island. The hotel in some area needs updating - but the restaurant, reception and terrace - are nice places to relax and enjoy a nice cool drink after 35c temps! Our room faced the front of the hotel where this a lot of building going on - so is not the most picturesque - however in the day we spent our days outside and due to the outside "entertainment" being on the back by the pool we didn't have to suffer the singing if we didn't want to. Food was great - especially al la carte - well worth getting the voucher - my wife and i are between 28-30 and we enjoyed the hotel - most the staff are very friendly particularly around the pool - they come round every 15 mins getting you drinks!! I would say the hotel overall would be a generous 4 star should all the rooms be updated and there was more to do - small gym, no inside pool etc.. overall better than being at work though!!!
