Stayed in the Poseidonia Beach Hotel in Oct 2010
All Inclusive for 7 nights.

After arriving rather late, we had a cold salad plated up for us which was nice of them to do. We didnt bother eating it as we already had food. We went down stairs to have a drink, sat outside and there was a lot of russian people dancing, with us just getting there we just wanted to relax but they kept dragging us up. thats the only problem there wasnt many English people, it was mainly polish or russian people.

The rooms was really big and a lot of space, we had a room facing the road so was really nosiy with the cars going by as they are very dangerous drivers. (even drive through red lights and speed in front of the speed cameras, i dont think they worked tho)
if you are waiting at the crossing they will wait till you cross.

We couldnt complain about the food, there was always something there to eat.
There was only 1 day out of the 7 when we did complain at that was when we had the Greek night, there wasnt much to choose from. The other theme nights were great, sunday you actually have a sundays dinner without yorkshire puddings. Beef was nice and tender so couldnt complain. The snacks they had on after dinner were proberly the best, Chicken nuggets and chocolate cake which was to die for.

The area of the hotel is a bit out of the way, its in the middle of know were with nothing around it, everythink is a bus ride away. 1 euro for a day pass so could get on and off the bus as many times you like so was ideal if walking around the old town.

The staff are really friendly, got on well with the bar staff, Alex and Boris and there was also a lady they always had a giggle when went to the bar. You were only aloud 1 drink at a time at the bar but after the staff got to know you were all inclusive they would serve you more to allow you get drinks for your party. There was a mixture of lagers (carslberg was a surprise) there was 2 of there own lagers which were nice to. There is also the watered down spirts and cocktails. Always something to drink. Pepsi, sprit and water.
Only problem is they dont do Fanta Orange, they make it themselves with fresh orange and Lemonade.

The pool was rather cold, even tho is was 30c it didnt heat it up, the sea was a lot warmer. There was a day time entertainer in the hotel she was really friendly, she used to have darts, quizs, bingo and also suduko puzzles to do but not everyone used to join in so you could be doing things on your own so was a bit boring. On a evevning they didnt have any live entertainment there was a man who played songs of his laptop and now and then played the guitar. there isnt really anywere to go in the town its self.

On the day we were leaving we didnt get picked up until 7.30pm, there was nothing really to do than sit around so i thought i would go on the computer which was in the lobby. It is 5 euros for 30 mins which was a rip of to start with but on the day we were leaving because i wasnt a resident in the hotel anymore (because i didnt have a room key) i had to pay 6euros 50 for 30 mins.

Overall the hotel was nice weather was brillaint, friendly staff who made the holiday, just a let down with the area the hotel is suituated in.

I would return again to this hotel if i was looking for a relaxing holiday and to spend 7 days in the hotel.

very good tourist hotel which offers excellent value for money, quality food, nice beachside setting and rooms pretty good. The reviews on here dont make sense.
I have to say in answer to the comment that the four seasons is a bette hotel, I agree. But 2 weeks all inc here will cost around 1500 pounds a couple and around 6000 at the four seasons. Not really comparing like with like

I really don't know what people complain about. Cyprus hotels are not reknowned for entertainment, therefore I think it's unfair to judge this - go to Benidorm if you want hotel entertainment.
Our room was really nice, everything worked, we had a small leak in the bathroom and it was fixed immediately. One day the maid forgot to leave fresh towels, they were delivered immediately. Yes you do need a seaview room due to road noise but that's not the hotels fault.
Most of the staff were very friendly and helpful, make the effort to speak to them, they're only human.
The food was very good, particularly the evening meal, always hot and plenty to choose from ( and really tasty). Again, speak to the staff, have a chat and complain politely if you need to, they are only too pleased to try and make your holiday a good one.
We are experienced travellers and trust me this hotel is good in comparison to some others in Cyprus, I'm not comparing to 2* either.
The AI does not compare to the Caribbean but I don't think anywhere compares to there.
We have stayed in the Med Beach and agree that the Med is a better hotel, although I don't think the food was better in the Med - compare the prices - hey, same sun, same beer, same friendly Cypriots, what more do you want?

I took my mother for a week's break to the PBH. On arrival we were grandly informed we had been upgraded to a 'suite with sea view'. In fact this meant we had an extra bed in the room which was totally unnecessary.

I would concur with earlier reviewers that the room decor is well past its sell-by date and that facilities available do not accord with the 4* rating allowed in the brochure. The plug socket in the bedroom did not work, the shower head in the bathroom drooped constantly and neither of the waste plugs worked. The net curtains in the bedroom were absolutely filthy and the notion that facilities available in the room ie safe, tv and fridge won't work unless you pay 2 euros a day for each is laughable.

We have travelled extensively around Europe and other parts of the world and I can't remember the last hotel we stayed in that failed to provide tea/coffee making facilities in the room.

But the greatest disappointment was the food. Each night was ascribed a theme - French, Greek, Italian, Cajun?, Cyprus, International, BBQ etc. The salad table was virtually identical each night and the main buffet had one dish that sort of tended to the 'theme', whilst the remaining food was repetitious. That would have been bad enough but most of it was lukewarm at best. Whether the heating pans have suffered a long season and need a good maintenance visit I do not know. But we found the evening meals very unappetising and, being on a half-board basis, survived on the breakfasts, lunches out and the free peanuts provided with bar drinks plus the occasional foray to the local supermarket.

I would agree that the foyer and bar/sitting room area appear to have been refurbished to a good standard recently but that is all. The decor and atmosphere in the dining room were well below par and the attitude of the senior serving staff bordered on impertinent. Having ordered drinks in the bar and taken these to table we were then asked to sign for these in the dining room as if we had misappropriated them. And if we asked for a glass of water there was a demand for confirmation that we were 'all-inclusive'. If not we had to pay. For a glass of water?? This should be a basic provision for all diners in a supposed 4* hotel. This was the 9th hotel we have stayed at in Cyprus and the first one where such a policy pertained. No, I would not recommend this hotel. Never mind to friends, not even to enemies.

Just to put the icing on the cake - the entertainer described by one other reviewer as' the resident busker' insisted on singing (every night) the Elvis classic 'You ain't nothin' but a Hound Doo'. Whilst the Greek language may not have the facility for him to refer to canines, perhaps he should be advised to emulate that singer in Only Fools And Horses who avoided trying to sing the 'Gween, Gween Gwass of Home'. Having been so graciously upgraded to a seaview room it was impossible to avoid listening to this crooner until the wee small hours.

Oh yes. The last complaint. The air conditioning was so efficient I spent most of the night sleeping on the balcony. It was cooler out there.

this hotel is friendly, clean and the seaview rooms have a great view of the sea/limassol beach and a fabulous balcony.
definitely ask for seaview as the rooms are quiet, the non seaview rooms which face the avenue the hotel is on, have the noise of the speeding loud motorbykes and cars all night.,

We were dreading coming to this hotel, as we had booked it then saw the bad reviews. When we arrived we were so surprised. It was an up market hotel. The Reception Area was lovely. We were upgraded for free to a sea view room, the views from which were fabulous. The room was very spacious with 3 single beds, so we put them in a row which was great for the three of us (couple and a 2 year old). The room was a little dated, but clean and the bathroom had been revamped with lovely shower, loo and lots of mirrors. The maid was lovely, infact all the staff were very friendly.
The hotel is right on the beach which is great. You dine in the lower ground restaurant for breakfast and lunch. Food was fine. Ok after a while it gets repetitive, but fine for a week. Lots of lovely salad, meat, pasta, fish and greek mint yohurt. Drinks were plentiful at the bar - 'sex on the beach', brandy sours, whiskey. You could take drinks up to your room. The staff were extremely helpful. At night it was more formal in the restaurant off reception - but it gave you an air of occasion.
For the money we paid for all inclusive - £100 per day for all 2 of us and toddler, it was excellent.
Location on the beach fabulous, it is on a main road though (12 mile prom) that is dangerous at night - bit like the Fast and the Furious with Porches, Ferrais flying past. But this wasn't a problem - quite exciting acutally. It was only 1 euro per person to get an all day bus ticket - so you could have a few trips out in a day. Bargain! Worth going into Town to see the old town. The shops are fabulous, very modern, bit expensive though.
Limmasol itself is a little tired though. Things are tough in Greece and the restaurants looked like they needed painting and not many people in them, but it was low season.

We had a great week and for the money it was fabulous. We always make the best of our holidays and just can't understand how people moan when service, food and facilities are fine. This Hotel is in the Amathus region - the hotels next to it are the amazing Four Seasons, Amathus Hotel and Mediterranean Hotel. If you book into the Four Seasons for 1 week it cost nearly £2000 per person full board (not drinks) so for £700 for 2 people and a baby at The Poseidonia it was a bargain! You can visit the other hotels for a look round - well worth looking at the Four Seasons - out of this world, but far too pricey!
You will have a good time if you choose the Poseidonial. We would go back.

We stayed alll inclusive for 7 nights and i have to say 'i now realise that the only people that write reviews are people that like to complain'. What can i say - get a grip, relax and enjoy! Admittedly if you have a road side room there is some noise but who stays in their room and its really not that bad at night. The staff were not just helpful but also friendly (sometimes maybe not but only when i was trying to get a drink out of hours). Carpets are to be walked on so expect a little dirt to be trodden in but is hardly something to write home about anyway. There may not be a vast choice but what there is its good and every evening is a different theme. I have to say the hotel location and lay out could not have been better, raised pool to catch the sun, sheltered gardens with beds and the beach less than a metre away. There was not a lot for children to do but this was during school term so it could be different during the busy periods. Value for money and I would go back tomorrow if you've read the other reviews and want to give your tickets away! (Dont be put off by previous reviews, make your own mind up)
