This is a gem of time. Good wholesome food cooked fresh daily, with a great vegetarian selection- beans of every colour and shape. Beef roasted in sauce that the knife slides through and which melts in your mouth. Great lamb stew with beans. Restaurant full of locals, businessmen and a few tourists lunchtimes, and a special Meze weekend nights, with live music in the winter. Very friendly service. Blackboard menu in Greek which will be happily explained by English speaking staff. Small outside shaded pavement area. Lunch for me in Limassol now means Sykaminia!

Its always good to go to Sykaminia cause it does EXACTLY what it should do. Serving great food at very reasonable prices to a very mixed and happy crowd of locals as well as tourists!

The fixed as well as the freshly cooked daily plates arrive without pretense and in generous portions quickly and without fuss. From vegetarian to customers like myself who enjoy a bit of everything without risk. Dimitra the cook and her staff have served local dignitaries as well as half of Limassol for years and have that special knack for good, wholesome food. Roasts, fish, pastas, healthy lentils, beans and so on...yes, traditional Cyprus food as well......parking lot and back entrance, credit cards etc...Oh yes,...food sooo goood you should call in advance especially for lunch. !!!!

This restaurant serves big portions of traditional Cypriot food. The menu, which is written on a chalkboard on the wall, changes every day. The food has always been very good (fresh and tasty) and it is very authentic. If you want to get the kind of food a Cypriot would eat at home, come to this restaurant. An example of a meal we had was a large rustic salad (with plenty of feta and some traditional seasonal greens), a heaping portion of calamari and french fries, and a γαλατοπούρεκο (galatopoureko). This is served with plenty of condiments, onions, and traditional bread. Strongly recommended!

Visited this place for lunch on 16th November 2010. The full name according to the receipt, which translated from Greek letters, is Estiatorio Sykaminia Thamiana (or Damiana) Restaurant. Arrived at 2:30 and found it packed with smart local Cypriot business types and a smattering of expats too. Good atmosphere. The waitress explained that the menu was all in Greek so recited the whole thing in English from memory, pointing out which ones were especially Cypriot. Of interest I noticed that they had about 10 vegetarian bean dishes as well as many meat stews. They did all the other usual Greek food too. I chose one of the typical Cypriot ones - Kolokasi which was a meat and potato stew type dish but instead of potato it was Taro root. My wife had Kalamari. Both were excellent and portions were large. When I asked, the waitress explained that the many small raw onions on each of the tables were used as a typical condiment by Cypriots. She explained that they chop them up and eat them with the bean dishes amongst others. We thought this was an excellent tasty, friendly experience with most mains under 10 euros – It was the best we had eaten all week - thoroughly recommended.
