“What fun”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 May 2014

Roddy makes the place fun. His staff too.

Ate there Friday 9th May and was as good as ever. Try the Salmon, the salad is always good and different. The pork shank will will feed two/three. The menu might change before you get there, but it will be good. Just and idea, buy the wine you fancy and say ' Feed us Roddy' you will not be disappointed. Relax and enjoy.

Recent changes to the place make it even more fun.

Roddy and the crew will be great, they always are. Go and enjoy the fun.

“Little Gem”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 May 2014

If you want to try an ambitious spin on the local cuisine come to "Little Plates" - if you want belly busting grilled meat off the BBQ try elsewhere.

The wine 'cellar' is up a flight of stairs and gives you a chance to read the labels and look at the bottles rather than pick a bottle of the printed page. Some interesting local boutique wines as well as a good selection from the old and new world.

Order lots of the dishes and share them tapas style - the pork shank was so good, last night, we had to order a second one!

“Not Quite”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 April 2014 via mobile

A lot of hype about this place and locals seem to be very excited but truly food ideas as well as execution are not that special.

There appears to be some effort to offer "unusual" dishes but although we practically tried 80% of the menu there were no huge surprises there. Dishes were very "busy" and overloaded with taste enhancers being too salty, sweet and sour all at the same time without giving you the chance to appreciate any of the ingredients. Designed to impress but in a "flashy" way.

Prices also where rather high, not reflecting the quality of the meal.

Certainly not bad but doesnt live up to the hype

On the other hand the owner is quite a character and it is worth a visit just to meet him...

“Perfect service & food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 April 2014 via mobile

A warm welcome was given to us by the owner (and chef) and it felt like we were dining with friends. I loved the little touches like choosing our own wine from the well-stocked first floor 'cellar' and the owner ordered for us - choosing things he thought we'd like. We needn't have worried - it's all delicious and the atmosphere is perfect. Highly recommended.
