Interesting place. Lots of trees and caves (holes in rocks). Need time to understand the layout. The bed rock lent itself to the making of the catacombs as it was easy to carve.

An ancient place of Christian worship, cut down into the rocks. This was, even on a damp day, an enchanting religious site.
It .is a bit of a puzzle were the little cells for the incarceration of Saint Solomon (allegedly), or more likely, simple place of refuge and bedchambers.for nuns or monks.
The "rag" tree grows directly out of the walls and adds a bit more charm with 100's of pieces of cloth (plus quite a few paper tissues) tied to the branches.
However does the tree grow and flourish?

at the entrance a big tree full of people belongings such as small towels, handkerchiefs..., hanged on the branches for good luck and they say in the memory of king solomon who was held prisoner there, underneath where you see series of chambers with old painting.

a series of hellenistic tombs later used by christians as churches. The particular catacomb isnt that exiting, and the "caves" were locked when I visited. However, a must visit is nearby catacombs on fabrika hill and also the tomb of lambrianos right across the hill and solomonis catabombs

There is a dungeon under ground where king Solomon was held prisoner and died there. People have tied thousands of pieces of material to branches of the tree just above it in memory of him.
