We stayed at the Annabelle 23/05/12 for 1 week. The hotel itself was lovely, the grounds for sunbathing were really nice, you could get a sunbed any time of the day and you got a fresh beach towel in your room every day. Staff were very friendly, the only problem we had were the meals, it was buffet style and the food was always just luke warm, I suppose it was to be expected being buffet!! needless to say we ate out a few times which made it an expensive holiday as the meals were included in the deal. Drinks in the hotel were very expensive everybody was complaining about that. The hotel was spotless very clean, your bed gets turned down at night which was nice. We had an adjoining door in our room, and the people next door opened it which was quite annoying as we were in bed. When we checked the door it would not lock. Paphos has changed alot over the years and it was a shame to see so many bars and restaurants had closed. Still we were only there for the week and we had a lovely time.

We got a great welcome on arrival at the hotel, very friendly staff and got upgraded rooms without asking.
Good points:
Decent rooms, beautiful outside eating areas, very close to Paphos, fabulous sea views over harbour, Lots of different pool areas, busy or quiet as preferred, Food good for buffet style especially salads & puddings. Staff very good especially the local Cypriots. Special mention to Vasilis ( who was obviously 5* trained) & Mariela & Stavros in the restaurant & Tama's, Stavros & Judit in the bar, Mohammed at the pool bar. The best rooms overlooking the pool

Negatives:
s€15 charge PER DAY for using fridge!
Pool bar close 6pm
Very hard bed & pillows
Noisy wedding discos until after 3am, especially from Almyra hotel next door, shouting drunks twice at 6am, motorbikes loud zooming on main road. No double glazing so could hear everything outside.
Didn't affect us but building a new hotel next door which isn't a good view if your balcony is facing (although at least you don't get the Almyra disco noise!)
Sunbed scramble - had to get up at least 8am to get 4 sunbeds together - what a pain

Suggestions to hotel management:
Sunbed allocation
Departing guests - when leaving, instead of allocating slots in one room for each family, give them access to the changing area of the spa so departing guests can come & go as required
Table tennis table
Pool table

Room Tip: Choose a room overlooking the pool area

Just returned from a brilliant holiday in Paphos and we were lucky enough to stay in the Annabelle.

Upon arrival we were greeted by door staff and a welcome agent who was lovely and talked us through facilities in the hotel and the surrounding area and got us a welcome drink from the bar.

The hotel is spacious, well designed and the pool and dining areas are lovely. It has a large pool and is just the right temperature to cool off from the Cyprus sun. Padded sunloungers were a lovely comfort and we spent the days lazing at the pool and being served drinks. The complex has a small beach out front with a few watersports taking place and you can also use the Almyra complex right next door (almost linked to the hotel) which has an amazing infinity pool. The customer service in this hotel is second to none, I have stayed in lots of English five stars and the Annabelle could teach them a thing or to. We were especially hankful to Hedwig, the pool drinks attendant who was extremely professional and welcoming. Maqbool at the pool bar is great and we sat in the swim up pool bar talking to him for a good while. He was very charming and he has worked at the Annabelle for five years and loves it. He seemed really happy and this was reflected in his work and warmth to guests.

We bought our holiday and there was a special offer on half board. My initial thoughts were to no pay the extra but I'm really glad we did. Breakfast is served from 7:00 am to 10:00 am each day and has a great variety from english breakfast to continental, fresh juices, cheeses and hams. There's something for everybody. Dinner is served from 7:30 pm until 10:00 pm and they have different themes each night - sometimes it's chinese banquet, mediterranean feasts and there was even a sunday roast on offer one evening. They also serve soup each evening and have desserts to die for, selections of cheeses and salads. It was hard to not load up your plate and as it was a buffet you were welcome to go back for more! The restaurant staff also cook up some food in front of you including pasta dishes and they are gorgeous. Our waiter was Vasilis and he was extremely helpful and friendly as were all of the other staff we came into contact with.

The accommodation is good. It's a little dated when you compare it to the Alymra next door which is a minimalist hotel with white furnishings everywhere. But our rooms were comfortable, we had a flat screen on the wall which picked up most of the news channels and we had a balcons with a side view of the sea. The bathroom was clean, shower strong and the maid service was excellent. They also leave you with two lovely fluffy blue towels each evening for your sunbathing the next day so don't increase the weight in your case by taking too many towels - you don't need to.

The clientele was a real mix with a good deal of wedding parties who were getting married in the beautiful surroundings of the hotel. There were also a number of russians and greeks but the majority of guests seemed to come from the UK. There were lots of different age ranges, young honeymooners to retired couples but this just made it a real ambient place to be. There were a few children but the hotel seemed to have a kids club and you never seemed to see kids much apart from lunchtime in the pool and even then there was only a handful. I still think it would be a good place for a nice family holiday though.

We had a brilliant time, great food, great service and a great setting.

Paphos itself is relatively buoyant although it's one of the quieter resorts I've visited although there is nightlife there. The main walk across the shops has some good bars (we liked Mar Beach, Mare Mare and Posiedon especially as they were pretty chilled and well designed). However, we did go for a drunken night out to Baywatch (catch the 'Dance through the Decades' show if you can, it's so cheesy that you have to love it). We also went to Flares (great party pub) and a few others which I can't remember now due to the amount of cocktails consumed on the night!

All in all, Paphos is a welcoming place with something for everyone of all age ranges and the weather was divine while we were there with a little breeze to cool down the heat which helped me sunbathe for even longer!

Top tips for a stay at the annabelle - get a towel on your sunlounger early - there's lots of sunloungers but those in the best positions get taken up pretty early. Secondly, the drinks are a little expensive (although they would be the same cost here so anyone expecting cheap drinks in the Eurozone this year has another thing coming). Lastly, there's a couple of cats around the pool area - I love cats so I was happy but if you're not the waiters will come and chase them (kindly) for you.

Room Tip: Ask for a seaview or a pool view if you can get it as the views are beautiful of the gardens, pool a...

Had a lovely week at the Annabelle, the staff are just soooo very friendly and helpful, especially when my husband was taken ill, nothing was too much trouble. Sun beds were tricky to find and I only mention it as it is quite an important part of the holiday for a lot of people and could put them off returning - we definately hope to come back soon - thank you !

a wonderful hotel set in beautiful gardens overlooking the sparkling blue sea. Our bedroom 355 was splendid and we were greeted with wine fruit and chocolates. Food at the hotel is first class with a very wide choice and a chef always on hand to look after your every need. A classical pianist plays for you prior to the evening meal. The hotel is spotless and the furnishings all you would expect of a five star hotel of this quality.
The extra star is for the incredible staff who liaise and treat the guests as old friends. Nothing is too much trouble and they ALL go that extra mile to ensure you have a splendid holiday.
This was our first visit but we will return.

Thankyou to EVERYONE at the Annabelle.

This is a very good hotel in the absolute best location, ie a quiet seaside setting but very close to the centre for shops and restaurants. Some more good points: the staff are fantastic; extremely courteous, friendly and helpful, everything asked for was attended to immediately. The rooms are spacious and pleasantly furnished. The setting of pool and quieter garden areas suits all tastes.

A few negatives however. This year (we have been before) there seemed to be a shortage of the comfortable sunbeds and the only way of securing one was to be up early because by 8.00am most had gone. It seems they have removed some beds to make way for a new outside, unshaded dining area which hardly anyone appeared to use. There seem to be plenty of places to eat around the hotel so this would better be restored to a sunbathing area. Most people would prefer to eat with a bit of shade anyway. There also seemed to be other spaces where more sunbeds could be sighted. It would also be best if they kept to the same high quality comfortable wooden ones rather than introducing tacky looking black ones.

One of the lunch dishes was a chicken wrap at the Mediterraneo. It was billed as chicken breast and at €14.70 one would certainly expect it to be, however it was dark meat so not good enough. Other food niggles were the queue for an egg at breakfast and it often being swamped in fat.

Overall it didn't spoil our stay but a few improvements could make all the difference. Oh; and the best 5 star in Paphos? Elysium.

Room Tip: Some non-sea view rooms are very close and on the same level as the outside dining area. Diners can...
