“A beautiful escape”

We stayed at The Annabelle in June 2012 and had a wonderful, relaxing 7 days. The hotel staff were friendly, especially Maqbool at the pool bar who was excellent and a pleasure to talk to. For the first time ever, we were given a room upgrade and were lucky enough to have a garden suite with its own private jacuzzi on the rear patio - total luxury!! The room was spacious, clean and modern inside and was right next to the lower pool area. One word of warning - to get the best sunbeds you have to put your towels out early - we stayed before peak season so putting them out on our way to breakfast at 8.30am was fine but I can imagine that when the hotel is full you would have to be up at the crack of dawn! We only had one meal in the hotel which was on the traditional Cypriot night - an outside buffett with live entertainment which was great. Overall we would recommend this hotel to anyone looking to have a relaxing getaway and would definitely consider going back ourselves.

I hadn't been to Paphos for about 20 years an dback then the Annabelle was undoubtedly the top hotel. It is still lovely but not up to the standard of newer 5* hotels and is certainly faded.Having said that it is in the best position and retains its 5* qualities in terms of service and charm.

Before our trip I was confused by the conflicting reviews on tripadvisor but having now been I can see that it would be fair to rate it anything between 3 and 5 stars.

Our room was as requested on the top floor and with a sea view (411).It was in the Aphrodite wing so unmodernised but very large and with a fab view of the sea however it faced the surrounding hotels rather than the harbour - it was actually lovely. The room wasa bit dated but not to the extent it caused us any concern. It was clean and comfortable with a fabulous bed. Bathroom was great, The gardens are lovely but the biggest area of concern is the filthy pool and ridiculous sunbed wars - we succumbed and took our part placing towels at 7am too, but only after a couple of days where we had been unable to secure any at a normal hour.

We didn't think drinks or meals were overpriced in fact they were entirely in line with what one would expect from a hotel of this standard.

Our free upgraded half board arrangement in Fontana restaurant exceeded our expectations and we ate in most nights because the food was so good and lots of choice.

Overall we had a lovely holiday and enjoyed our stay but the pool issues do need sorting as they were causing widespread discontent.

On balance I probably would return and found Paphos little unchanged in 20 years which was a nice surprise.

My hubby and I stayed at the Annabelle for 2 weeks in September and overall we had a nice stay at the Annabelle. We had a very nice refurbished room which had a good view of the sea. Staff around the pool area were very good and helpful but those in the lobby area were a waste of time. It took them nearly half an hour to serve my hubby and I beer and spirit drink and the lobby area was not busy.

We only ate breakfast in the hotel although we did have the free upgrade for half board but hubby and I like to eat out in local restaurants and there were many good ones in Paphos. We had lunch at pool area but found the food very expensive and choice a little limited and decided to eat out along the sea front or in town and discoverd the cost was half the price of the hotel.

The Annabelle is a nice old hotel but a very tired one. They have refurbished rooms but the pool area is in a very much needed total refurb. whilst we were there the few children in the hotel spent most of the time collecting the broken mosaic tiles from the bottom of the pool. Also there was a man most mornings in the pool with a cloth going around cleaning the dirt and grime of the tiles whilst people were in the pool. The sun bed issues provided much entertainment around the pool area with many people discussion the fun in the pool. There apparently was a family there who seemed to be the topic of conversion and entertainment around the pool most of the time and I don't mean in a funny ha ha entertainment. During our 2 week stay the hotel tried to implement the 40 min rule on towels on sun bed and it lasted one day I think they had so many complaints from that day forward it was first come first served.

To be honest my hubby and I had the most relaxing holiday we've had in a long time but we will not return to the Annabelle when we come back to Paphos. It may have been a 5 star hotel when first opened but it does not warrant that now, I say it is 3 star plus, my hubby says 4 star. It needs to shut down during the winter and have a major overhaul and both in the hotel and in some of its staff to bring its stature back up as it is a nice hotel with a fantastic location.

Most impressed throughout our 7 day stay.
Great room 171 (side terrace)

At the staff level, The Annabelle does all the basics right- great and efficient services provided unobtrusively - from the porter, to reception (including tour information desk), bar staff, to waiters and not forgetting the room cleaners and pool staff - all knew what they were doing, were informative worked hard to please AND SMILED as they went about their business.

A memorable hotel.

Arrived at hotel to find my room on same level as resturant, very bad I feel like I'm on stage, asked for another room they told me to close my curtains! I'm on holiday , can I not have sun light with out feeling like on big brother. Very poor for a 5 star hotel. This hotel is old and tired 3-4 star in my ratings.and everyone here is over 60 which I can put up with. But not very nice for my girl friend with old men looking through window looking at her.
Never again.
Be careful with this place ladies

Hubby and I went to Paphos on the 21st September to celebrate (a bit late but we were running the GNR before hand) our wedding anniversary. From the moment we arrived to a bottle of champs in our room to the moment we left we had a smashing time once again. Since our last visit in May there have been some very positive changes. The Mediterraneo restaurant on the beach is now a very funky place to have lunch and we loved it there we also LOVED the Rum and Drum night on Friday at the pool area...

Three trips to the Spa for various massages and we returned relaxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxd!

If you are going to Paphos...Stay at the Annabelle!
