Where do I start... This hotel is simply amazing! We chose to get married here based on reviews on here and pictures- we didn't get chance to visit prior so you can imagine I was somewhat sceptical... I needn't have worried. The hotel is stunning, the staff are fab and I really haven't got a bad word to say at all!

Mirela, the wedding planner was brilliant. She really knows her stuff and helped us plan our big day. She really helped to calm my nerves on the day and that in itself must have been a challenge! If you're planning a wedding here, trust me you are in very safe hands!

We stayed in a royal villa with private plunge pool- worth every penny! Rita who is the concierge for the Royal area is brilliant. Very accomodating, friendly and personable. She really did treat us like royalty! Molten Brown toilletries, expresso machine, 2 tvs, 2 bathrooms, fresh fruit daily, fresh mini cakes every day at 4pm, turn down service every night, exclusive use of the royal pool (usually empty and only available for royal guests- at most 20 people. Also a tip, every day at 11am all guests by royal pool get a complimentary fresh fruit smoothie and at 3pm a plate of fresh chopped fruit. The waiter/ waitress could come round more often for drinks orders but they do come round. Also cold towells are handed out to cool you down.)

The surrounding areas are ok. Some good restaurants include San Marino, Zorbas and Phuket Thai and Chinese. You must have a traditional Meze- amazing! Lara beach is worth a visit if you can handle a rough drive to get there! The Harbour is good to visit at night, especially the restaurants on the right.

I would highly recommend a visit to the hotels own restaurant, Bacco. The food is the best I've eaten eaten- trust me I love my food and have eaten in some amazing restaurants around the world, but this was on another level! We had Scallop soup, Squid, Lamb and steak. The staff were very attentive and again very friendly.

All in all, a truly fantastic holiday/ wedding/ honeymoon. All the staff here make you feel at home and you will be left wanting to book your return. We don't usually go to the same place more than once but this place is an exception. 1st anniversary here we come!

The Elysium is not a bad hotel, but unfortunately neither is it great!

It holds a 5 star rating which by European standards is probably about right, but not in line with most parts of the world.

On the positive side, upon arrival the hotel looks quite impressive with it's grand lobby, marble floors, descending spiral staircase and comfortable seating areas. The bedroom and en-suite bathroom was also nicely presented, and we found the beds to be extremely comfortable. All indoor and outdoor areas were spotlessly clean and all staff were always friendly and polite.

As I said this hotel wasn't bad it just wasn't great.... I think for us the problem was that the hotel consists of nearly 300 rooms, so there is certainly no feeling of exclusivity and at times it can feel a bit like a busy holiday camp, particularly at breakfast in the mornings and around the pool areas which also become quite busy. During our stay, I'd say that 60-70% of guests were Russian and seemed to occupy the pool areas together with their children, so don't expect any peace or tranquility.

To be fair, breakfast was plentiful and with a huge selection of food, so if you're the sort of person who likes to go on holiday and eat volume rather than quality, you won't be disappointed!

I can't comment on the inclusive evening buffet as we didn't eat there, but the hotel does have a couple of additional restaurants where you can pay a supplement to eat. We ate at the Italian restaurant on 3 of our 5 nights, as this was supposed to be the best. The service I have to say was very good and the staff were always friendly, but yet again the food was only OK.... And at 130 euros (over £100) for dinner for two and one bottle of wine, you'd tend to expect better.

For us, probably the biggest problem with this hotel was the lack of anything to do in the area. There is no beach as such, just a couple of sunbeds on some dirty looking patch of sand. The surrounding area is not what you would describe as an area of natural beauty (unless you're Stevie Wonder) and the seafront walkway seems to lead to nowhere except past a restaurant displaying pictures of food outside!

Despite having paid for 7 days, in the end 5 days were all we could stand so we checked out and flew home early.

Dear Tripadvisor Member AllisterSurrey,
Thank you for taking some time to post a review on Tripadvisor regarding your recent stay with us.

Constructive guest comments greatly assist us in constantly evaluating the level and quality of our services and facilities and therefore all comments of both positive, as well as negative nature, are being thoroughly looked into.

We would like to thank AllisterSurrey for the comments in regards to the comfort and design of our common areas and our rooms and the friendliness of our staff and we would like to comment on the following in regards to the issues mentioned in the review:

1) During our 10 years of operation, we have successfully managed to welcome all types of travelers of all nationalities without exception and needless to mention without any discrimination.

2) The hotel is located in a total area of 32.000 square meters. There are 15 different room and suite types to cater for the needs of each guest, our facilities and dining options are extensive and our pool area allows all guests to lounge very comfortably.

3) For the guests who wish to have a more exclusive stay, the hotel’s Royal Wing is highly recommended. It is an adult only area, with Studios and Villas with Private pools, where the guests enjoy private access to the hotels Royal Pool and many other exclusive benefits, like private check-in, private reception desk and complimentary wifi internet access.

4) The beach of the hotel has 25 luxury wooden jumbo beds and not only a couple of sunbeds as mentioned in the review and is maintained and cleaned constantly during every day.

5) The seafront walkway, leads all the way until Paphos harbor, covering a distance of 3 kilometers.

Thank you

Arrived late on Saturday 16th of June for a meeting on Sunday.
The checking in process was swift and the person was polite ,I assure you the most troubling aspect of checking in is a fake smile.I was upgraded even though I was staying only one night.
The marionette room has a perfect ambience and molten brown soap.....
Slept well took a Morning swim at the Royal pool. The resort is very well maintained and well kept.
Breakfast was as expected from the prestigious Elysuim excellent .
Definitely on my next trip will spend three days or more just to relax .My compliments to the staff at Elysium.

We are fairly well travelled and this has to be the best hotel we have stayed in.Definitely a 5 *. The staff without exception were fantastic-very friendly and extremely helpful, nothing was too much trouble for them. The hotel was spotless, food amazing (particularly breakfast-so much choice) & whilst a little pricey, the drinks menu was extensive. We will definitely return!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Artemis suite-what luxury! A super kingsize bed and so much room.

This was our first family holiday and 3rd visit to Paphos. We have done quite a lot of travelling around the world and tend to stay mainly in 5 star hotels, so it was good to see how Elysium will compare. The location is very good with plenty of shops and restaurants. There is a path which leads to the harbour and the centre (about 50 min walk). The beach is very small with beautiful sun beds and was quite empty. The hotel and the grounds are lovely although the rooms and mainly the bathrooms need a bit of updating. We went half board, the food was good and well presented but not sure what's happened on the "The Chef's night" as this was the only time when I didn't eat much and the food was very far from being tasty (a different Chef maybe?). We don't really drink any alcohol so had a Diet Coke each every evening and splashed out on ice cream one afternoon. What a shock when our bill came to 89 Euro! Definitely overpriced even for 5 star hotel! The staff was very pleasant and always made an effort to speak to our little one who loved the attention. They did provide high chairs which were always very clean but didn't have any straps!!!!! All in all we had a lovely time and would probably go back!

We have not been to many hotels in the world that we would definitely want to go back to - but this is one.
The staff were all fantastic, and the food and drinks were all of top quality.
A couple of minor niggles are worth mentioning.
We stayed in one of the maisonettes and the air con did struggle to keep the upstairs cool. The design of the upstairs shower also meant it leaked over the floor when used. The reception of the English tv channels was also of pretty poor quality.
Maybe the dress code for dinner should be slightly better enforced and the provision of soup spoons would have been nice.
These are very minor niggles and our short stay was wonderful.
We are already planning to return in September.
