“A good hotel for the family during the New Year Holiday”
Reviewed 6 January 2014

We spent three nights here with the family for the new year change-over. We could not attend the official new year party as it was fully booked. However, we managed to do other things there. The Hotel garden is massive and green, with a good footpath along the sea that extends for at least 2-3 km. Father Christmas was there New Year's Day, which the children enjoyed. The Kid's Club was open, and there was a show with tricks. The food was good, although the taste of some options could be improved, but overall okay. I would not hesitate trying this hotel during the Summer.

Stayed for a long weekend with family and friends, excellent welcome, spacious rooms. The new years entertainment, food, drinks were brilliant had a fantastic night, also our friends found the coin in the new years cake and won another stay at the hotel. Catered for all the family, had a children's entertainer for the smaller children. Great swimming pools both outside (a bit too cold this time of year) and inside with spa facilities. Good restaurants and bars in walking distance.

Room Tip: Had interconnecting rooms very spacious

We arrived on 19th December 2013 and for two days we were practically the only guests at the hotel. The staff were magnificent right from the start and got the balance between smart efficiency and friendliness bang on. They either genuinely really enjoy doing their work or give a first-rate impression of going so.

When the hotel was far fuller a few days later, the same level of attentiveness, courtesy and attention to detail remained undiminished.

As this was a winter trip, we had to make do with looking at the outdoor pools but they looked magnificent as did the grounds in general. We never tired of walking around them after the equally magnificent breakfasts served up by the usual friendly and attentive staff (and the excellent boisterous cook who spoke umpteen languages and remembered who everyone was).

I don't think we have stayed in a better hotel, and we've stayed in quite a few.

King Phillip's restaurant right opposite the hotel, Hondros - a taverna in the harbour area and Muse in the old town up the hill are all highly recommended if you don't want to eat dinner in the hotel.

Been to a few hotels in Paphos and enjoyed my stays so thought I'd have New Year away. Checked the websites (including Trip advisor of course) and decided on the Elysium. I can say without fear of contradiction the Elysium not only met my expectations but exceeded them on all accounts. The hotel is lovely the staff are attentive, courteous and friendly. Quite frankly I don't have a bad word to say about the place. Will I return! you bet, and soon. Well done the Elysium.

Room Tip: High floor mountain view, smashing.

Rarely do Hotel buffet's live up to their hype, one can read the menu and salivate at the well chosen wording but invariably the reality is that one is greeted upon arrival at the buffet with a lack lustre tired presentation...not so at the Elysium where I thoroughly enjoyed the New Years Day luncheon buffet. The assemblage of goodies on offer ranged from oriental, Mexican, roasts, lovely fish dishes, superb salads, treats of oysters and parcels of crispy duck pasta for the kids and importantly quality ingredients were sourced and all was perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. Chef and his staff were always on hand looking happy and being helpful describing each dish if required and that alone is a bonus as they were obviously and justifiably proud of their efforts. Waiting staff were super efficient and also friendly I cannot fault this hotel for team work and for reminding us that yes..a well run hotel can offer the very best food and super service at a price which doesn't make ones ears weep upon receiving the final bill. Thank you Elysium for that delicious experience.

Room Tip: did not stay only came for luncheon

THE place to stay in Paphos,.....enjoy afternoon tea (and people watching) as the sun sets on the bay, from Café Occidental, listening to the relaxing music of Svetla the pianist. Excellent Gala Buffet meals with live music (and treats like roasted horse chestnuts for Xmas eve), charming and friendly staff throughout, well organised hotel trips to the Paphos Zoo and Wine Tasting, beautiful views of the gardens and sea from our well equipped and clean hotel sea-view room, archaeological sites of interest within walking distance of the hotel,....and my husband was even presented with the yummiest complimentary chocolate cake for his birthday. Highly recommend a fortnight half board at this hotel. Bliss.

Room Tip: Recommend Deluxe Seaview Room.

I've been visiting Elysium every year for the last 7 years and every single time i fall in love with it! Even when I visit Paphos for the day I want to go for a coffee. The people are always friendly and willing to exchange a nice word and I mean all of them; from the cleaners to the managers. The food is another experience, when you eat the breakfast you understand immediately the high level of gastronomic quality I'm talking about. During the summer i loved the swimming pools but I usually visit during the winter, you can feel the warmth.
