“Perfect Honeymoon Hotel”
Reviewed 14 July 2014 via mobile

We spent our honeymoon at the magnificent Elysium Hotel hoping for a perfect, relaxing, romantic, luxury holiday and we were not disappointed. From the moment you walk into the stunningly beautiful reception area and lounge you know you are in for a treat. The decor and atmosphere are opulent without being intimidating, warm welcoming smiles are universal. In fact the only thing better than the hotel itself are the wonderful members of staff, from the cleaning and maintenance staff to the waiters, reception, bar staff and management everyone has a friendly smile and a genuine interest in making your stay truly memorable. The variety and quality of the food is fantastic, cooked to perfection and presented with care and flare. Other small details which make a difference are UK style 3 pin plug sockets, so no need for adapters and unusually for Greece toilets you can put loo paper down so no smelly bins!
The Elysium has got the blend of luxury hotel and family run hotel feel just right, never intrusive but you can tell they really care for their guests, not just going through the motions. This is without doubt the best 5 star resort hotel we have ever stayed in, and we are definable booking up for 2015 to celebrate our 1st anniversary in style.
Finally try the 3 berry daiquiri, prepared in the swim up pool bar by David and Elias - just perfect!

My wife and I stayed here a couple of weeks ago and had a great time. Like most people have said, the staff were ALL amazing, nothing was too much trouble.
The facilities we used were all great, clean and well maintained. The swimming pool was fantastic, and I would recommend a Lenongrass and chilli Martini from the pool bar! It's a shame the beach isn't a little bigger but we don't really go to the beach anyway so didn't bother us at all!
The food at the buffet was great, nice selection and loved the different theme nights.
A beautiful hotel overall and made even nicer by the wonderful staff.

Thanks!

Great holiday ! Stayed at the Elysium for 10 days 23 June to 5 July.
This is very certainly a 5* hotel and the service is of a very high standard.

Room - We booked a family suite with inland view which is basically 2 double rooms with an inter-connecting door but the second room is furnished as a sitting area and the external door removed. The family suite had a full bathroom plus a show room and 2 LCD Tv's, 2 mini bars, Rauk iPod dock, 6ft + main bed, free tea & coffee making facilities, (Note UK power sockets) and a double width balcony. Our room (3139) looked over the tennis courts at the side of the hotel. The inland view is not great as it looks towards the back of Paphos town which is not pretty but Pool & Sea views are available (this was our choice as it was significantly cheaper). The bed was very comfortable and the room was in a quite area. The room was serviced twice per day (not sure if this is suites only) and cleaning was to a very high standard. I had 1 minor problem in the room with a blown light which was fixed within 10 mins !! - excellent service. Also we did not like the "packaged" milk cartons and when we asked for fresh milk this was delivered free of cost to our room within 10 mins - impressive. The only small issue was that during the time we were in Cyprus it was unseasonably hot the air conditioning had to run at maximum to keep up (which it did very well) but the fan was a bit noisy - minor issue only

Food - Great !

Breakfast is available either inside or out (we preferred outside). There is a massive breakfast buffet with freshly cooked omelettes/eggs etc. on the live cooking. The breakfast chef Marios is a great character and really made breakfast an event - not to mention cooking a great omelette.

Dinner - we ate in the main restaurant which offers a buffet dinner plus main courses prepared on the "live" cooking. This was of exceptional quality typically buffets get boring after a few days but this was totally different. They seem to operate a 7 day rolling menu which meant that the buffet was different every night. The quality of the buffet food was excellent and the live cooking was very good. In addition on one night my wife fancied the paella but this has sea food in it which she cannot eat and one of the chef offered to cook her a special version without the items she could not eat, also my son liked the oreo milkshake which was not normally served in the restaurant and a Ivan our main server sent a waiter went to another bar in the hotel to get him one - how wonderful is that for personalised service in a "buffet" style restaurant. There were also al a carte restaurants but we liked eating outside.

Pool - Great good size although I would have preferred slightly deeper as only just deep enough to swim. Loads of sun beds with good quality soft mattresses and plenty of umbrellas. The pool staff were very attentive and assisted with beds and umbrellas without being asked, frequent pool side drinks service at you bed, cold face towels at lunch time. There was also a swim up bar. Pool was always spotlessly clean and staff were in evidence ensuring this at all times. The pool side only opens at 8am and any beds reserved before are cleared - good news! Sun beds were never a problem.

Beach - there is also sandy beach (moderate size only) with sun beds and a safe swimming area. There are a few rocks in a narrow stretch just after entering the water but easy to swim past and then the rest is sandy. (beach shoes not required). On alternate evenings there was a bar open to take cocktails/drinks from comfortable chairs looking at the sea.

Kids Cub - great - opens from 10am to 6pm shut for 1 hour at lunch. Great room clean and tidy and the helper lead by Rachel was great. It covers children up to 12 yrs age (cant remember minimum age). George had a few days with them and thoroughly enjoyed this. There is also a games area with bar billiard (1€) and some electronic games machines. There is also a kid pool area and slide but really for younger children (<8yrs)

Entertainment:- There were some shows in the evening but would have liked one every evening rather than the duo who performed every other night. Of particular note was the "comedy magician" who performed some SEROUSLY GOOD magic and you should watch.

Transfers - We used a local firm booked via the internet "http://www.iwantataxicyprus.com/" who were excellent. Cost for 3 was €32 each way as week booked return. The were waiting for us at the airport with a clear sign and picked us up on time. Well worth using them great friendly service.

Cons:-

1) There were not many children of George's age at the time - this is our fault and the hotel is not so well suited to children in this middle age group. There were quite a few "pre-school" kids around but we did take George out of school so to be expected.

2) You should note that Cyprus is NOT cheap and this hotel is a top quality hotel so our drinks bill was significant (£80 per day this includes bottle of wine with dinner) but the service was so good you forgive and indeed expect this. You should note that the costs were not that much more than restaurants outside the hotel for food and wine as costs have risen badly in the island as a whole.

Summary:-

Great Hotel, Great Service, Fantastic Food - We will be coming back - what more can you say !

The common parts of this hotel do not disappoint, very clean and well preserved. Staff are very friendly and helpful. However my room is not a Deluxe 5 star suite as billed, the view (inland) is awful and barking dogs and function room noise can be heard. If I returned would definitely book a "royal" suite, these have their own private pool.
Overall quite expensive.

Room Tip: Book a room in the Royal wing

We were looking for a nice and relaxing hotel by the beach to spend a relaxing holiday and I must say that this hotel hit the right spot!

It is not the trendiest or the most luxurious hotel you can find, but it has all the amenities you would like to have at such a location: nice pool, nice beach (not sandy though), comfortable rooms, good food and excellent service!

As we went off the peak season, we benefited from an upgrade to a room with a sea-view and I must say it is worth it!

Please note that it seems the hotel is going through a complete refurbishment and will be closed for some time.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view and away from the lifts!

The Elisyum hotel is by far the best hotel I ever been to. It is truely 5 star delux hotel! The stuff was very nice, kind and helpfull. Indeed it is expensive but worth any penny!
The only problem is that it is somewhat far from the harbur and it's private beach is not the best..

Elysium Hotel is one of my favorite Hotels I have ever stayed. I have stayed there couple of times with family, both occasions for one night stay, short weekend mini-brake. The hotel really would deserve more than 5*, the way every detail is thought of really makes you feel carefree and enjoy the touch of luxury to your holidays. Visually hotel looks posh, but in the same time atmosphere is homely with classy , elegant touch. Staff is very kind and helpful from the moment you arrive (and are seated and offered a welcome drink and get your luggage carried away for you) trough the whole time you spend until your departure.

The rooms are spacious and a pleasant surprise was the quality of bedding - they use pure satin. All rooms has small balconies and if possible ask to avoid view to overlook field behind the hotel, much nicer are sea and garden views.

Breakfast is like little paradise, they really serve everything you could dream of in the sunny summer morning overlooking the blue pool - fresh Croatians, fruits and vegetables, omelettes, meats, cheeses, pancakes, bakery, they even serve champagne, so you really do feel like you having holidays in style.

The pool facilities are great , plenty of space, so never gets crowded. Very cool pool bar IN THE pool, so you can sit in the water and enjoy your cocktail in the same time, finally, the walk by the seaside is lovely.

Suggest this hotel to everyone who stays in the area and hope to be back myself someday.
