“Yet another lovely holiday”
Reviewed 27 November 2013

This is only my second visit , but it will not be my last. It may not have the polished stone like its sister hotel Anabbelle but it has the friendliest approach and feeling which i have not had better anywhere else,All the staff are superb and any problems would be sorted out immediately(not that i had any problems). The food was different and very much to my liking , so if you want ENGLISH food dont bother, after all you are not in England. But they do have Porridge!.
It has a Casual smart dress code which is not exactly to my liking, as i believe all men should wear long trousers for their evening meal?, It certainly should not be a problem.
The Spa is great, especially the indoor pool, the Sauna & the Steam room plus a great Gym.
it is also situated in a position which allows you to walk very easilyall over Kato Paphos.
I am trying to book my 3rd visit now for Spring. Cheers, Tom Tyson.

.

Room Tip: Second floor overlooking the Sea either a standard room or one where you pay a bit more money.

We stayed at the "Alymra" Hotel Paphos Cyprus for the second time between the 11th Nov. and the 22nd Nov 2013. We are now looking forward to our next visit.

The "Almyra" has a very relaxing atmosphere, the swimming pool area and the surrounding sunbeds are well spaced, you do not feel as if you are on a military parade as with some hotels. The hotel also has a grassed area which is also quite and relaxing.

The Dining room is spacious and the food is very good, there is always plenty of choice and the staff are all extremely efficient, polite, and helpful, they make life easy by speaking very good English. "Elena" makes meal times a pleasure.

The hotel is perfectly situated for walks to the beautiful harbour, there are walks in both directions along the promenade, all of which are almost flat and suitable for the less mobile..

The hotel provides evening entertainment in the bar and lounge area, which is furnished with very comfortable seating. This holiday we were able to relax and enjoy the beautiful voice of Krisztina , the guitarist Helious and a harpist.

Trips to various parts of this wonderful island can be arranged from the hotel. the mountain tour which takes in some of the Monasteries is a really good day out.

The "Almyra" has guests who return year after year, which is a tribute to the Management and staff, who are always ready to help no matter what time of the day or night it is.

We had a great holiday.

Room Tip: 3rd or 4th floors give a better view out to sea, but all north facing rooms have a sea view.

Went with my wife and another couple for 1 night just to relax and spend a quiet time away from our daily rutine. The hotel gives u a relax feeling like going to a spa. Everything was neet and tidy. A good place to relax is on the 2nd floor where u check in. Go at night just to have a drink and listen to the music. Lights are faded out and with a small candle makes the night quite calm and special.

Didn't try spa, but i think it's one the think u must try.

The room was tidy but not what i expected for a 5 star hotel. Bed was not that comfortable, bath was small, it didn't have anything for the water not spilling out. The balcony is tiny, which in my case i didn't care due to the weather. I also realised that there was no greating card or something (maybe i didn't see it), nor fruits just to change your mood, just 2 glasses and a bottle of water. Well for me i wasn't bothered but maybe it does for others.

Morning breakfast was avarage i must say. Not much of a variety of food , but well made.

Overall i had a relaxing time, and prefere booking sea view. Close the tv and just listen to the sea while falling asleep.

We stayed here for 10 nights on HB in a garden room at the End of September. We booked the holiday 4 days before flying as a relaxing break. The hotel has a contemporary feel. The choice of food at breakfast and dinner buffet was varied and of a good quality. The Spa facility and services are professional with a well equipped Gym. The hotel seems a good choice for families with toddlers based on the numbers of guests with small children. They have a family pool which is covered by canvas . We spent most of the days by the adults pool which is a very relaxing area with double size sun beds and an infinity pool looking out across the sea and promenade, you need to get here between 830-9.00 as the beds go, especially as their is no beach to speak off. Coral bay beach is reachable by the615 bus from the harbour. Overall we had a nice holiday here but agree with other reviews that it's a good 4 star.

I have stayed at the almyra a number of times over the past few years and I am always glad to be back. The entrance and common areas are simple but so inviting and the daily sunset view is breathtaking. Although some areas may need a little bit of care, overall the place is grand and the staff very friendly and helpful. This is a great place either for couples only or families.

We loved the Almyra. It was our first visit to Paphos and to the Almyra and it definitely won't be our last. We were confused by the reviews we read and we were glad we ignored them. We booked a superior sea view room. On first glance the rooms appear a little tired, however the views were stunning-day and night. Our room was so comfortable with a huge super king size bed and comfy chairs. We could slide the floor to ceiling windows right back and sit on the comfy chairs in front of the amazing views with a beautiful sea breeze. You felt as though you were sitting outside. The breakfast and lunch buffet were fantastic - they had about eight tables with everything you could possibly want. The buffet room is huge with plenty of space and the food was very frequently topped up so no-one missed out. Surprisingly there was also a chef cooking eggs to order which was a bonus, despite the range of eggs available - hard and soft boiled, fried and scrambled. I had a continental breakfast with yoghurt and honey while my husband chose a full cooked breakfast every morning. The coffee was excellent and plentiful. Lunch was equally good with a huge range of fresh salads, meat, chicken, fish and other seafood - with a great range of hot and cold food. The salads were the talk of the hotel and were amazing. We weren't as enamoured with the dinner buffet neither in terms of variety or taste however it had a lot to live up to after such excellent breakfasts and lunches.
I must mention Ouzeri the hotel restaurant on the seaside. Do yourself a favour and try it out. The food is outstanding. The calamari, lobster and mezze were amongst the best food we have ever eaten. Their mezze is extremely inexpensive and exceptional quality. The Notios Bar is also very good and their unique range of sorbet flavours were really tasty -we loved their pistachio and ginger sorbet. The Notios Bar is a really comfy spot to wile away an afternoon reading and overlooking the sea.
I should say for the Coeliacs amongst us- all of the restaurants catered for my gluten allergy with a minmum of fuss and they kept fresh gluten free bread on hand for all meals. They also very kindly provided gluten free sandwiches and fruit for the flight home, which was way beyond what we expected.
The staff are outstanding friendly and attentive without being intrusive. Stelios and Maria at reception were fab and the other brilliant staff, too numerous to mention, made our stay a special one.
The Almyra was perfectly positioned for us as well. Although Paphos isn't known for it's beachds we found a couple a very short distance from the hotel. We swam as we watched the sun set over the Med - it doesn't get better than that.
The numerous pools were spotless and I am super fussy about cleanliness.
We had a magic holiday and really can't wait to go again. I'm so glad that we ignored some of the reviews on these pages, because we couldn't have been happier. We met people who come back to this hotel twice a year, every year and we can see why. See you next year!!!

Room Tip: I would definitely go for a superior seaview room, you can't beat those views.

Some of the reviews do not reflect our recent stay at the Almyra......weather, staff on reception, view from room and setting truly lovely but that's where it ends. Sad-looking rooms in need of renovation, the only food we ate was breakfast which was fine until the season went from 'high' to 'out of season' when the eggs-to-order facility stopped, and daily another hot dish was also removed - which frankly just irritated us as this (clearly cost cutting exercise) just seemed mean. Housekeeping became later and later to service our room, which is really annoying when it's mid-afternoon, the room's still not been done and you want to have a nap! If using it, the A/C is quite noisy. The reason we didn't eat in the restaurants was that the staff were unwelcoming and disinterested in serving us, we found the menus for ourselves before leaving and eating elsewhere! Generally it would seem that the Management weren't interested in making staff do their jobs well. Kids Club seemed fantastic and the shallow pool very popular. And with so many restaurants in walking distance, it just seems such a shame that the impression we left Almyra with was "nobody cares"
