“Poor security & Couples.... avoid unless you like kids !”
Reviewed 11 June 2014

We went to the Almyra last week and it does impress on first view after driving through the grim Paphos and beach front area. The economic crisis has hit hard and clear to see. The room was fine but not 5* at all just in case you think that's what you are buying. Breakfast was nice but it was the same every day and could have been any breakfast buffet anywhere ! Evening buffets were just DULL...and uninspiring. We had to escape on three nights because we could not face the pain of walking around looking at such dull food. Eating outside on the terrace was great but nearly every table had a child or three and the few couples there looked pained at the sight of so many noisy kids. The two restaurants are good and the service excellent at all levels. The big problem is poor security around the hotel. Anyone could walk in from the promenade on the beach side and all the rooms in the main hotel have very old 80's style "push a button into the handle" doors and locks. One hard push and it would fly open easily.
The spa area is great for any stressed out singleton or couple looking to escape the kids in the main pool but they charge Euro 4 for local bottled water costing 60 cents from the shops and and wont let you bring your own ! The spa treatments are expensive so be warned.
Overall its a good hotel that should not be priced at 5*, staff are excellent especially Zoe on reception and Theodore in the Notios restaurant.....but we would NOT got back to the hotel or Paphos again for any reason.

Room Tip: get a sea view room as the alternative is not worth it !

I came here as a group of girls and this place was a good choice. Between the four of us we shared a 2 bed suite with jacuzzi and made use of spa facilities.
The pool was a bit too exposed- more trees needed! But the views were stunning and the breakfast exceptional. I will definitely stay here again.

We have visited Paphos dozens of times and stayed in both hotels and apartments. This was our second stay at the Almyra. The hotel is very centrally located within a 5 minute stroll of the harbour. The staff are very friendly and the rooms are clean and comfortable.
The food from the three restaurants is first class and there is even a fine dining restaurant overseen by an Executive Chef (Rob)
One of the best features of this hotel is its infinity spa. This is adults only and has a small restaurant attached. Relax the day away!

Room Tip: This is a small hotel with attractive views over Paphos bay so its worth having a seaview. lift nois...

We didn't stay here unfortunately but had our last night at their restaurant, it was the best meal we had on the holiday. We then sat at the bar and had a few drinks - superb. The barman was from Hungary and he was a top class cocktail barman.

We have holidayed in Paphos many times over the last 15 years and have many happy memories of our times there. We knew exactly what to expect from the resort but there is always the worry that the hotel will not live up to the images and reviews that one checks beforehand. However on this occasion The Almyra Experience actually exceeded our expectations. Firstly the Kyma Suites were excellent (the comfiest sunbeds ever!), the situation was perfect and the rooftop sunlounge area was great. We went half board and had expected to eat out every other night. In the event the quality and variety were so good that we only ate out twice in eleven nights. We found almost every member of staff to be professional, attentive and above all friendly. Our previous visit to Paphos was 5 years ago but we had such a good time at The Almyra we have booked another week in October.

We returned from our first visit to Cyprus on the 14th of June, it certainly won't be our last. From start to finish it went like clockwork, the icing on the cake was the wonderful Almyra.

The staff are all excellent and cannot do enough to make your stay perfect. I read some reviews before going that stated that the Hotel was dated and needed updating, WHAT, WHERE WERE THEY STAYING? in the basement.

We were on half board and the food was plentiful at breakfast with plenty to choose from, it was great having the choice to be able to eat out or in. Dinner although plentiful we found the food to be on the cool side for our tastes. This in no way reflects on the catering staff as we realise Europeans do tend to have cooler food. Given the choice we would do B & B the next time as there is so many places to eat you are spoilt for choice.

Again there was reports of noisy children, but although there were children we found they were all very well behaved, the only time they were noisy was when they were told it was time to go home. Then there was plenty of tears, can,t say I blamed them.

Well done Almyra would love to return, many thank's for a wonderful Holiday.

Room Tip: Although no balcony's choose a Superior Seaview room on the third floor for fantastic views , th...

Had a lovely time in paphos , the hotel is in a great location and has fabulous views from the sea view rooms. The food was excellent, the room spacious and comfortable, the staff all lovely and friendly. But.. There are a lot of buts....
1. So many children- not a problem during the day as we could escape to the spa area. But mealtimes in Mosaic were chaotic. Kids running around, little hands in the buffet food, food dropped on the floor. I know they are on holiday, but can't parents teach them how to behave ?
2. On arrival to check in at 11 at night, we were not offered a drink or the opportunity to have anything to eat. Not 5 star service .
3. Bathroom dangerous, no thought given to health and safety - no grab-rails in bath, slippery bath floor, slippery tiles .
4. Noise at night from parties on terrace. Twice I phoned reception and asked if people could talk rather than shout as we were trying to sleep. Nothing done, no apology . Apparently these parties are a regular occurrence .

This hotel would be perfect as an adults only, couples, type of hotel. But as long as it is run the way it is now, I don't think we will be returning. And that is a great shame, as it could be fabulous.

Thank you for taking the time to share your opinion about your recent stay at Almyra. Your complimentary feedback about the excellent service you received, food quality in general, the Almyraspa is appreciated by the team and we delighted you enjoyed these aspects of your stay.

I am disappointed that there were a few areas which did not meet your expectations, and I apologise that we did not resolve these prior to your departure. I would like to confirm that we offer the a bar menu until 1am, and room service is available for 24hrs, therefore there are always dining options available for our guests which arrive after the main restaurants have closed. With regard to guests having parties in their rooms, I can reassure you that this is not a regular occurrence. our aim is to resolve any concerns immediately and I apologise that we did not accomplish this for you when you were staying with us.

We do hope you consider returning to Almyra or Annabelle in the future. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you do, so that we can ensure that every aspect of your return visit is more enjoyable
