“Very Good, bordering on Excellent”
Reviewed 23 August 2013

Just returned from a lovely week in this hotel - and will try and summarise the many pro's and very few con's.

The pro's:
Suites are a reasonable size - the extra room gives more space to spread clothes out, etc. although it's not really necessary! Bathrooms are large and well-equipped. Really efficient air-con.
Service overall is excellent. Most of the staff are Eastern European - Russian, Romanian, etc and, whilst on occasion the smile doesn't come straight away, the service is very good.
Food is excellent - however, we only ate at the buffet restaurant once as the Kymata(?) (beachfront) al la carte restaurant, which is also included in the half board package, was superb - great seafood & fish, fillet steak, etc... The buffet breakfast was very good as you would expect from this type / standard of hotel. Drinks are reasonably priced by international hotel standards.
Pool and pool area is very clean, well-maintained. We were here in high season - mid-August - and you did need to grab a prime poolside sunbed by, say, 10am, but there was no shortage of sunbeds in the gardens and on the beach. Towels are provided, along with freezing cold flannels twice a day; and enough staff around to serve drinks, etc.
The hotel is a 2 mile walk or 1.5 euro bus ride (or 6 euro taxi) from Paphos harbour. The walk takes you right along the waterfront and, if you do so, you'll note that the Asimina certainly appears better than all the other hotels. which look more dated, crowded and with less good amenities.
The 'adults-focussed' theme obviously works, as the hotel was full (but didn't feel at all crowded) and there were no kids.

The Con's:
Suites are perhaps a little tired and (it may just be me) I'm not sure I like carpets in hotel rooms at this type of resort hotel..?
We booked a 'garden view' room, which was basically a view of a rear carpark! Looking at the layout of the hotel, this is what you'll get unless you pay for a seaview room. We actually weren't that bothered, but if you want to relax and sit on your balcony with a nice view at the end of the day please bear this in mind!
If you book a room with it's own plunge pool, please note that these are not private, they face onto the main pool area and are in open view.
Paphos harbour and town are quite downmarket and we wouldn't recommend any bars / restaurants there. However, I strongly recommend Akis Taverna (see separate review).

Overall - quiet, relaxing, great service & food - everything we wanted and we would certainly consider staying there again and would recommend.

Room Tip: Unless you pay for a seaview room, your view will almost certainly be of a rear carpark - the 'g...

The Asimina Suites is the kind of place you're nervous about writing a review of in case it gets overbooked. We are already planning a return trip and we usually make it a rule never to go to the same place twice. It's a tranquil and relaxing paradise - so different from the behemoth hotels further down the delightful coastal path into Paphos harbour with their blaring music and serried ranks of sunbeds. At the Asimina the sunbeds are spaced out under palm trees on the lawn, around the two huge pools or on the beach and although people had their favourites there was always a spare, no matter how late in the day. The rooms (we had a one bed suite with sea view) are comfortable and understated with luxurious bathrooms, 2 TVs and very peaceful. The staff are friendly and helpful - always there if you need something but unobtrusive.
I'm not a great fan of buffets but the evening spread had plenty of choice and great quality food - if a little repetitive and the breakfasts were amazing. The second restaurant, The Kymata, has one of the best locations ever, right on the beachside with cool breezes and incredible sunsets - brilliant for lunch or dinner.
It's easy to relax, everywhere looks beautiful and you feel wrapped in a sense of peace and luxury. A couple of niggles - the WIFI is hopeless so be prepared to live without your email, Twitter and smartphone and they only turn the aircon on in the gym when it opens at 8am which makes for a very hot workout first thing but on the whole a truly fabulous place.

Room Tip: Although some rooms are billed as 'side sea view' I don't think there's one that doe...

I've just read the most awful comments about this wonderful place, which has prompted me to do this review as I had planned to several months ago but didn't find the time.

Having travelled extensively for some 40 years, with and without children, in all manner of hotels, hostels and B&Bs, from -1* to 5*+, I have to say that this hotel was, in our experience, the most amazing of all of them.

What really matters on holiday is not the number of stars accommodation has, but how well or badly you are treated there, because that's what you remember with the greatest clarity - everything else is dressing, albeit expensive dressing in this case.

I stayed for a week with two friends and we had a sea-view ground floor suite with private pool. Champagne cooling when we walked into our room. The window curtains are closed to keep the heat out but of course we had to open them - revealing the most beautiful view. We spent and hour or two each evening just sitting in the patio area watching (a very small and quiet part of) the world go by!

The hotel is in a lovely spot on the bay - very sheltered from a sea breeze on the promenade which can blow fairly strongly.

Indulgent treats included: our own mobile phone provided to call for help with sunbeds or our cabana, to replace towels, order drinks or food, to deliver wifi codes, etc., etc.... A spa treatment on the beach - bliss... Peace, perfect peace.... No children - although some turned up to play gently at the jetty, receiving glowers from some residents who had clearly paid to avoid this!!

We found the hotel extremely clean and well looked after. A maid turned up each evening to turn down the beds and light our lantern in the patio area. The hallways and lounges were bright, airy and welcoming. Whatever we wanted was sought quickly, effectively and without fuss.

The only thing that didn't work for us was the evening entertainment, which was dire. A singer with a laptop providing the music, in the bar most evenings - yuk! - a horrible trend; so cold and detached.

Everything that this holiday had to offer - location, space, luxury, good food - was made better for us by the staff, all of whom played their part in ensuring this was a most memorable holiday for all of us. Reception staff, waiting staff, cleaners, room maids, barstaff, concierge, kitchen staff - we loved them all. They were happy, helpful, kind, caring and accommodating - and this near the end of the season when it would have been understandable had they been a bit jaded by then.

I'm now looking at re-booking for this year.

Room Tip: If you are going for the Executive Suites with private pool, ask for one with direct access from the...

Returned home on 8th August, after a two week stay. OMG we absolutely loved every second. We were upgraded when we arrived to a one bedroom suite, this might happen to you on a regular basis, but not to us, wow! Suite was v spacious and beautifully appointed. Staff in this hotel are amazing and I just cannot praise them enough. Hotel and grounds are immaculately clean. This is a very peaceful hotel and staff work very hard to ensure that your holiday goes without any hitches, nothing is too much trouble. We were given a meal voucher for our last day as we were too tired to go into dinner when we first arrived. We were even given water to take to Airport on departure. THEN there is the food. My husband thought he had died and gone to heaven. There is no extra charge to use the A La Carte restaurant and it is a testament to how fabulous the food is in the buffet restaurant that we did never got round to using the other restaurants. You name it and the Asimina had it. Special mention and thank you to Hajni and Barbora who served us so well. Will we be going back to the Asimina. Yes we will but weather is so very hot in July/August, perhaps May or September would be better for us. Thank you Asimina for a lovely holiday. See you soon!

Room Tip: Upgrade to a sea view suite if you can, its worth it.

We enjoyed a week in June 2013 at the 3th flor. We had a superior suite and a lovely holiday. with it's excellent staff.and excellent food. Good evening entertainment. grown up musicians for grown up people. blissfully quiet around the pool. we booked this hotel because it is for adults only. room and public areas all spotlessly clean. However there need to be more wooden walkways from the hotel to each cabana. Drinks are a little expensive. More towels are needed at the pools. In June the hotel was not quite full so we had plenty of room and sunbeds at the pool area.

Room Tip: get a superior suite and enjoy it

What an amazing hotel. We chose this hotel because it is adult only and chose the half board option. All the food we had was very good, with good choices from the buffet at breakfast and in the evening. The food was always kept hot with ample plate warmers. We ate at the Kymata restaurant a couple of times in the evening and that was lovely and with the half board option there is a nice choice of food at no extra charge. We ate down at the harbour once and found it over priced and no where near as good as the hotel standards. We also ate at Kymata every lunch (good choices available) and paid as we used half board option at night. There is complimentary water each night and the little shop at the hotel sells it too at the same price as the local supermarket which is a 5 min walk away. The sunbeds were comfortable and it was nice and quiet in the gardens area with Scott,George and Fern looking after us. The hotel is spotless and the service is excellent from the moment you check in and this is evident throughout the hotel. My special thanks go to Robert and Raul who helped me in their own time to find a pharmacist and to Robert ,Raul and Nick (porter) for their kindness and concern for my husband who was admitted to the medical centre, thank goodness for 1 night only. I would recommend the hotel and would definitely go back.

Room Tip: our room 422 was a superior 1 bed suite overlooking the pool and the sea at a distance, situated in...
