Constantinou Bros Asimina Suites Hotel
Ranked #6 of 85 Hotels in Paphos
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 18 September 2013

Have been travelling around for the last 35 years and always stayed in 5 star accomodation.
First time in Cyprus but because of the Asimina, will not be the last.
I cannot find any faults in the hotel, food or service. All the attributes have been described by many.
So for all to know if you go to Paphos, just stay at the Asimina and if you could afford it, stay in the executive suites with private pool. It is definitely worth the extra cash.
My rating is 5.5 star.
Thank you again to all staff especially Miruna(reception) and Robert and Magdalena(restaurant) and will definitely be back!!!

Room Tip: executive suitesw with private pool

Stayed in the Asimina Hotel to celebrate my husbands 60th birthday. On arrival we were given a glass of champagne.
In the suite on arrival there was a bottle of wine, fruit and cakes to greet us.
They noticed on arrival that I had celebrated my birthday the previous day - so was really surprised when a rather large stunning chocolate cake was delivered to our suite and you guessed it when it was my husband's birthday we had another stunning cake.
Every holiday we go on we miss our bed not this time the bed was huge and so comfortable.
The level of cleanliness in and around the hotel is immaculate.
The staff in the restaurants are helpful polite and attentive and not over familiar. The breakfast buffet is excellent and the evening buffet we found better than the a la carte restaurants.
When we stayed it was extremely hot 51C at times so the air-conditioning was a must but it was so quiet and efficient we did not realise it was on.
Scott needs a mention as he was extremely helpful during our stay Cheers Scott.
I agree with other reviews that a beach side or poolside dedicated bar would be a bonus, there is a sports bar but located inside the hotel.
The only negatives that I could find was that the carpets are a bit worn and weary.
Also it is very close to the airport and in the direct flight path, during the day it was quite entertaining but during the late evening and early morning it was rather annoying.

My wife and I wanted a lazy break and chose a trip to Cyprus, somewhere we had not visited for over 25 years. Searching for accommodation we decided on Asimina Suites (ok, my wife does all the work and I get to comment - and pay the bill!) which looked like it would offer everything we were looking for, not least as it was adults only. As with everything there is inevitably a degree of trepidation (will-it-won't it) but it is fair to say we were absolutely delighted and enjoyed one of the best (no kids) breaks we have had.

From arrival at the hotel, where we were met at the door, we were relieved of our bags and taken to a reception lounge. Here we were offered complimentary drinks (we opted for champagne) and canapés while we were 'checked in' and given a comprehensive explanation of everything at our disposal - no standing at the reception desk fumbling for passports and credit cards here then.

After this relaxed introduction we were escorted to our suite and shown around to ensure everything was satisfactory (we had chosen a superior suite with full sea view) and while our bags were delivered. Needless to say everything was superb and the bright, airy, beautifully prepared room was also supplied with complimentary bottles of wine and water with fruit and pastries on the coffee table (although the wine was not to our taste).

The hotel has two/ three restaurants (I say this because one offers both a buffet or a-la-carte service), one by the pool(s) the other overlooking the small beach. All were excellent with, in my experience, unparalleled yet friendly, engaging service - as was all the service within the hotel.

The pool side and garden were superbly maintained with spaciously located loungers all too inviting to laze away the day listening to personal music (i-pod) and catching up on the books I had been meaning to read for far too long. The bar service with complimentary fruit and cold flannels were a nice touch.

Asimina is about two kilometers from the center of Paphos so it is one of the more distant locations, but in my opinion all the better for it. The local bus runs right past the door every fifteen minutes (€1.50 to the harbour) and there is also the inevitable taxi service (quite often taxis returning to the town will stop and offer to take you for the bus fare, i.e. €3 for the two of us, rather than drive back empty). Alternatively there is a pleasant coastal path right the way to the harbour with sufficient opportunity to stop for a beer en-route. There are also a couple of 'entertainment areas' should you decide to walk down the main road (or indeed get the bus/ take a taxi).

Paphos is Paphos and clearly feeling the effects of the recession but, while the entertainment footprint has contracted through closures etc., there is enough to wander among to while away the odd hour or three.

Some observations. The shower could have had a second position for the hand spray a little higher than the one fitted (there is also a waterfall head though). Booking for the Kymata beach front restaurant really should be the day before only (it quickly becomes apparent that bookings are taken the night-before the day-before so all the better times can go). The bars/ lounges are too lightly used to create any atmosphere and the entertainer singing in a virtually empty lounge appears a bit sad. Sun loungers are still claimed with the inevitable unattended (albeit complimentary) towel and hogged for the day - why do people do this? Fortunately while this was a problem in the garden there were generally sufficient loungers around the pool. Having said that these are minor observations on what is essentially a marvelous hotel.

Room Tip: Superior suite with full sea view is the best for me. Don't be seduced in to going for the priva...

Dubai substitute, not really! The suite we had was large with a pool and sea view which was pleasant enough as the sun set. Hard to put my finger on what was not quite right at this hotel. Tries really hard, but somehow doesn't quite deliver it's billing. There is no focal point in the hotel where guests might gather pre dinner or post dinner. There is a lounge with live music every night, where some the performers were excellent, only to watched by 10-12 people max, a bizarre experience! The pool bar was basically on the stairs down to the pool side with limited seating. The pool area at night was taken up with diners, rightly so. No where to have a sun downer or a cocktail, so everything seemed fragmented with residents spread round in ad hoc groups or couples, all a bit..............! Food good and varied, service lacked in the finer touches for me. This is high end Cyprus apparently. I have given this a very good rating which is higher than it deserves, but certainly not average which it wasn't. Revisiting, no, Dubai every time.

Great holiday thanks to all the staff and the "adults only" ethos.

Agree with most of the positive reviews that i have read pre and post booking.

Had a very relaxing holiday at Asimina, would go again.

Standouts are the personalised customer service, the pool / outdoor space and "Kymata".

The decor inside the hotel is rather ordinary and shows it's origins pre 2010 when i understand the hotel was re branded and refurbished, that said there is nothing wrong with it, just rather plain. The rooms "suites" are large and comfortable but lacking the style i would expect at the price.

The buffet is ok: the alternative: Kymata outdoor a' la carte is exceptional for Cyprus and good by international standards too.

To fix (all minor points):-

Can / change the entertainment in the main dinning room and bars it's awful

Build an out door bar

More Hammocks outside

Better music in the gym (which is very well equipped for a hotel Gym)

Better quality coffee in restaurants

Advice if booking:-

Book a pool / sea view room

Use Kymata or the other a'la carte rather than the buffet.

Room Tip: Book a sea / pool view

We have just returned from a fantastic stay at the Asimina Suites, one of the best hotels we have ever stayed at and we have stayed in my some beautiful hotels around the world.

From the moment we arrived we were treated as special guests. We were greeted at the door and escorted to the Check-in lounge, offered a drink while our details were taken, have never experienced that before and it was a unique touch. We were then escorted personally to our Superior One Bed Suite. This was huge and we had a fabulous sea view, it looked just like the website pictures too.

The room was spotless and fragrant, the hotel was spotless. Definitely a 5 star experience.

We had booked a half board package, which was the same price as the B&B rate so it was a no brainer for us. The food in the buffer was varied and excellent quality. We also used the A La Carte restaurant which was incredibly good, and at no extra cost other than wine, etc. of course.
.
We could not fault the service, it was friendly and extremely helpful throughout and in every department.

A very pleasant experience and if we go back to Paphos again this will be our hotel of choice, cannot recommend it highly enough.
