We have just returned from our holiday in Paphos Cyprus. We were booked into the Nereus Hotel. We arrived on the 12th October 2011 & left there on the 13th October 2011 the next day. Our room was across a very unsafe car park which belonged to the hotel & up a flight of external stairs that looked as though it was a fire exit. The lighting on this staircase only came on when you went up the stairs but did'nt come on when you needed to come out of your room to go down the stairs, (very dark & very scarey). We were very hungry as it had been a long day, so we went out for some food, then made our way back to our room. When we put the lights on there was 2 cockroaches about 2.5 inches long each running over the work surfaces, we opened up the cupboards and there was about another 5 or 6. My husband went down immediately to complain & asked to be moved to another room, but was told by the night guard that he couldn't help & that we would have to go back in the morning!!!. We spent the night on the bed with our daughter fully clothed unable to sleep. My husband went down again the next morning & explained the situation to the lady on the desk, who replied we haven't got anymore rooms but i'll send someone up to spray it & when a room becomes available we could have it. ( she couldn't even tell us when that would be ). She then proceeded to offer us a voucher for a free breakfast, what an insult that was. We said that that wasn't good enough & that we wanted to leave & we would go and find ourselves somewhere else to stay. A man appeared behind the counter then and informed us that we would have to pay 81 Euros to leave as it was law in Cyprus that if you left early you had to pay a cancellation fee to the hotel as they had reserved the room for you. We had had enough paid the 81 Euros and left. We did check out about the 81 Euros and they were correct about that, so there's something else that may be of future reference for you, My advise to anybody wishing to book with this hotel is don't, The hotel is disgusting & dirty & the reception staff very rude & unhelpful. I have given this hotel a 1 star rating & that's purely & simply for the location. When we were there we used a few taxis to get out & about & whilst talking to the various taxis drivers they all said Nereus DIRTY!!!!!.

This hotel is ideally situated in Kato Paphos for restaurants, harbour etc. It is still family run and we found the owners and staff enthusiastic in helping us, including arranging a hire car at short notice, and at a good price for me to find The Cyprus railway Museum.
I would certainly recommend this hotel. They have in house entertainment most eveenings and a pub across the road.
Nice service ffrom all levels of staff right up to managers

Room Tip: They have a lift which was out of use most of the time we were there. Not a problem for us but certa...

Stayed at the Nereus for two weeks in september 2011. Very well located being just a five minute walk to the sea front and other bars and restaurants, Papageorge pup just across the way that is run by the hotel was great we spent alot of time there John's cocktails were fantanstic, entertainment in the hotel most nights ranged from a party night outside round the fountain with kareoke and singer Dave the Rave, and other nights a female vocalist Alexander, and not forgeting Julie's crazy quiz and bingo night somthing for everyone. The reception staff were very helpfull and friendly nothing too much trouble, as were all the staff couldn't do enough for you. The food was excellent especially the roast beef on sunday, but good choices throughout. The rooms are dated some say, but we thought they were fine they were clean and serviced daily, the beds were very hard but if you ask at reception they will put a memory foam topper on your matrass to make it more comfortable, there is a water cooler/heater in the room you can buy an 18ltr bottle from the shop for 7.90 euro or you can buy it from the hotel but not sure how much, all the public areas were always clean and tidy. Two large pools and sunbathing areas to relax around, like anywhere be on the ball to bag a bed around the pool but on the two sun terraces on the roof never a problem. It seems that some guests find the cats a problem we however did not and think that they add character to the hotel especially with it being family run. This was our first time in Cyprus and we will be going back to the Nereus Hotel we had a very enjoyable holiday!

Room Tip: 216 looks over the pool

We stayed at this hotel from 11th -25th September 2011. It was, as has been pointed out in many reviews, well located, being a mere 5 minutes walk to the sea front and within easy walking distance of numerous bars and restaurants. Our room and the public areas were clean, though there was a need for some updating. We didn't use the hotel restaurant, but meals provided at the bar during lunchtime were of good quality and reasonably priced. All in all, we'd rate this hotel as adequate, with little other than its location to particularly distinguish it

Good value for money, rooms are rather dated but adequate and always clean, food excellent with good choices. Staff are very friendly and helpful especially bar, reception and dining staff. Large poolside areas and two other sunbathing decks to relax on. The only downside is the number of guests that creep out early to bag sunloungers with shades (despite notices) by putting towels on them and then disappear for 3 hours plus before finally using them.Location is excellent for the harbour and front and bars, restaurants etc.I was surprised at the mix of ages at this time of year which was nice. All in all, if you want a relaxing holiday with good food, lovely friendly atmosphere then this is for you! P.S. Watch out for the two "bouncing Czechs" in the dining room, two hardworking but funny brothers!

Spent a week in Nereus Hotel. The receptionist staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms are cleaned daily and fresh towels are given everyday. Didn't use the pool area. The place is in a nice quiet, secure location and Papageorge pub across from it has an excellen bar tender, Dave The Rave from Brighton. This pub is also part of Nereus. The amount of cats wandering in and out is a bit disconcerting, especially at breakfast time. It seems to be a rest home for the local cat population. If I was travelling on my own,I would return to this hotel

Nice Hotel, great location, in the centre of Paphos without being affected by any noise. We stayed on half board basis, food lovely, never went hungry. Pools nice, slightly small for us but we were expecting this anyway. Big sun terrace, limited sun beds actually by the pool, but not a problem as loads on the sun terrace, never stuggled to get a sunbed. Pathos itself is lovely, great harbour area with places to get in the sea for a swim, sunbeds available for hire by the sea. Lovely clear water. Loads of bars and restaurants, as relaxed or as lively as you want it. Went to Faustori waterpark which was great and apparently lots more rides than the Pathos one. Air conditioning great in the room, had to sometimes turn it off at night as it was too cold!! Staff friendly (except for one bar man but only dealt with him once). New Delhi lovely curry house. Just one thing - make sure you check the drinks prices before you order as we ended up paying 3.75 euros for one diet coke at one restaurant by the harbour!! Would have been cheaper to have a beer at 1.60 euros!!!!

Room Tip: We had 235 which was very quiet at night, however not great view from the balcony but we didn't...
