We stayed here for 4 nights at the beginning of November, we booked this thru easyjet and weren't expecting too much, this was just a short break for us to sort out our wedding plans for next year, as were getting married in Paphos next April. we chose the hotel as it seems pretty central to everything and it was, to be honest the location was probably the best thing abour the hotel, 10 minutes down to the harbour and plenty of bars and resturants nearby without being noisy (apart from our very inconsiderate neighbours who came home at 4am shouting and banging along the corridor and in their room! not the hotel's fault though ). We hired a car from the airport so drove to the hotel, not the easiest place to find mainly due to the one way streets! there is car parking at the hotel although limited but we never had problems finding a space. The welcome at reception was great very friendly and helpful, the public areas seemed clean but very dated and tired as is most of the hotel. Our room was in the main part of the hotel on the first floor at the back, the room was clean, but a bit tatty, furniture was old beds the hardest I have ever slept on (and I like a firm mattress!) the bathroom was clean , but the grout and sealant round the bath/shower could do with replacing but it was clean and for me thats the main thing, the shower was good, loads of hot water no matter what time of day. The balcony was small two people and no more could sit out, the view wasn't great apartments and trees within a few feet so not very appealing anyway. We only stayed B&B so can only comment on the breakfast, all I can say it was ok, there was a cooked selection, bacon, 3 choice of eggs, sausgaes (not english) bacon, beans and tomatoes, there was bread for toasting, fruit and a very small selecion of cheese and meats. The staff in the restaurant were very friendly and efficient, having been to some 3, 4 and 5 star hotels I would say this a 2 and no more. We didn't use the pool and never saw anyone in there it was November so maybe a bit cold, the sunbathing terraces are not round the pool but above looking down, so if you have young children not recommended, although to be honest not a place for families in my opinion, we were here without our kids which was just as well as there seems to be nothing for them to do. As a previous reviewer said seems to be place for the elderly to holiday in the winter, some of them had been there weeks and are return guests! We love Paphos and had some lovely meals out, The moorings down by the harbour, fantastic meal and 'I love steak and Prawns' great steak. For the purpose of our visit this hotel was ok, would I be back? if I needed somewhere cheap for a couple of nights then maybe but for my annual holiday a definate no.

We stayed here for a week with our ten year old son. The positives are that the staff are very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, there are quite a few down sides to this family run hotel. We should have guessed a little of what was to come when our coach didn't even want to drive down the road to the hotel and threw us out with our cases giving us instructions to turn left at the bins. The hotel looked ok from the outside and the receptionist was welcoming, However, the floors in the main areas and the rooms are very uneven and the entrance is quite slippy. The apartment in the grounds that were were first allocated was horrible. The walk way to these apartments was littered with old shopping trolleys, bath mats hung out on rails to dry, old mattresses and very poor lighting. The inside was spacious but very tatty and tired looking. the furniture very basic and grubby, the bathroom dirty, the sink cracked, filthy shower curtain. the beds truly hard and uncomfortable. The patio area was full of cat excrement and poor unwanted stray cats crying for food. The canopy over the patio was broken and bits of it all over the floor. The room we moved to in the main hotel was small but clean. The beds were still hard even with mattress toppers and the balcony tiny. The food was dreadful. Served in a canteen style with very little choice. I can only describe it as very no frills and it reminded me of old school dinners. the smell was very unappetizing , huge lumpy potatoes, red meat and either carrots or green beans every night. One night we had a choice of grey soup or tinned fruit cocktail as a starter. At breakfast there was just plain hard bread to be toasted with no sign of croissants, rolls or pastries. There is nothing at this hotel for children as it is geared up as a winter holding place for the elderly who seem to stay for weeks. The pools are small and too cold for winter use. if you want to stay in a rest home and are happy with food that is merely edible you will be satisfied with this hotel. If you have children and are used to lots of facilities, comfy beds and really yummy food I would not recommend you stay at this dated, tired hotel.

Room Tip: Stay in the main hotel.

Good: Location - reasonable walk to Harbour, seafront and Bus Station. Plenty of bars, restaurants and shops within easy reach.
Staff: Very efficient and friendly staff, especially those in the Restaurant.
Food: Meals were usually good though one or two were not up to the mark.
Value for money: you get what you pay for and for what we paid it was good value.

Not so good: Beds - as others have said the beds are extremely hard and if you complain you get a thin duvet on the mattress which does help a little.
Rooms are a little dated and with all the furniture there is not much space to move around.
Minor niggles with fittings - missing handle, loose cover on wall holder for key and electric cable protruding from wall next to socket for water cooler.
Room cleaning - the beds were made and bins emptied daily but the floor wasn't cleaned so often. Tumblers were never changed ( perhaps because we didnt pay €9 for 20 litres of water)

The hotel seems to cater mainly for older guests so having requested a "quiet room" we were hoping for some peaceful nights. Unfortunately we seemed to be surrounded by guests who returned late to their rooms or left early and insisted in talking loudly in the corridor and slamming their room doors. Not the fault of the Hotel but something to bear in mind!

First time in Cyprus, and at the Nereus Hotel, staff and guests very friendly. People go back here every year on a regular basis, so the hotel must be doing something right. Made some good friends while we were there and if we ever go back to Cyprus would definately stay there again. Only complaint was that the beds were to hard, but they put a mattress topper on them which made them a bit better. Handy central location, although going end of October a lot of the bars and restaurants were shut.
