we have just returned from a two week holiday at the Athena Beach, what can we say, it was fantastic, staff were great they aim to please, the food 'well' it was marvellous they cater for all tastes, if you could'nt find anything you liked you must be a very difficult person to please( and let me say i am fussy about food and overall standard of hotels) i don't usually find anything i like for breakfast so my husband was amazed when every morning i ate it, keep it up Athena, i have told family & friends to try this hotel they won't be disappointed. Also Kirsty the thomson rep is a lovely girl and she too cannot do enough for you, always there to help if you need it, i hope she is there next year too. we went on the wave dancer twice and that was a fantastic also. *****

Have just returned from a 10 day holiday with my mum and sister and would highley recommend this this beautiful hotel and its surroundings . I dont normally write these reviews but i feel this hotel deserves it . The rooms were emaculate and the choice of food was amazing and catered for every taste and also had themed nights . All the staff were so attentie and very polite and i was sorry to leave the hotel . I would higgley recommend this hotel to every one and would give it 10 out of 10 and would definately stay there again. Thankyou Athena Beach for a fantastic holiday . It should be 5 star hotel and not a four it deserves the extra star

I have been to Athena Beach Hotel four times now and I love it so much! It is my favourite destination and it is just such a welcoming hotel. The staff will always be there to help and the food is at an extremely high standard. There is all sorts to do, swimming, tennis, bingo, discos, and lots more! There is a car hire minutes away from the hotel and there is a supermarket across the road aswell as the one in the hotel. The rooms have good facilities and you can just relax whilst you are there. The last time I went was a week ago and to be honest, I miss Athena Beach Hotel already!

Room Tip: Just search from different package companies and then look to see if you can get your holiday cheape...

Having recently visited this hotel, we were somewhat disappointed after reading some very good reviews, all I can say is what are you comparing this with ? We are well travelled and havnt stayed anywhere like this for 10 years at least.
Positives - The outside verandah bar is very pleasant and the Michael Buble and Robbie Williams tribute acts were good, the pools are lovely, however there are so many rules and regulations, no inflatables, no balls (even small ones), no fun !!!, try telling your children they are not allowed to play with their rubber ring only if it is around their waist !! God help them if they take it off, the pool inspector will be on them like a shot pointing and shouting to stop playing, we even saw him confiscating balls and inflatables from children !!!
The food is served in a canteen like restaurant, not a relaxing dining experience, we all had upset tummies.
This hotel was probably very good in the late eighties but has just not moved on, they have made an attempt to upgrade rooms and they are not bad, the rain showers are brilliant, whatever you do make sure you upgrade to a sea view room.
Dont bother with HB or FB get B & B and eat out, some nice places within walking distance and reasonable prices. The beach is like a building site rocky and strong waves not safe for children. By the time you have paid for drinks and the awful food you could have stayed somewhere else much better. Oh and get up early if you want a sun bed, all are always reserved with towels by 7 am !!!

We have recently returned from the ABH following our third visit in 4 years.

After our last holiday here in 2008 the changes recently made to the hotel this year are immediately noticeable. An example would be the decor within the bedrooms (and flat screen TV's) and the attentive service within the hotel restaurants and bars. We were on a half board basis and the food was of a high standard - always a good variation for all to choose from.

The pool and surrounding gardens and beach area are well maintained and there are always plenty of sun loungers to choose from.

It was also great to see that a lot of the staff from 2008 are still employed within the hotel and these people ie Ionela & Daniel (Restaurant), Nana (Beach Bar) and Voula (Manager in Reception) all recognised our faces from previous visits. By having familiar faces within the hotel certainly made the visit all the more enjoyable and no matter how trivial any request may have been from ourselves the hotel always obliged.

We were given room 406 (land facing) by Voula following our arrival and were not disappointed by what we received - the views from the balcony were fantastic.......thank you Voula!!

A 2 week stay was not long enough and we will definitely return asap.........

Highly recommended.

Thank you again Andrew, Alison & Marc (Room 406 14 Aug - 28 Aug)

Room Tip: Avoid low floor rooms if possible in order to increase your view whether that be seaview or land fac...

had two great weeks at the athena with my partner and my 9 year old great location just on the beach, room very clean and maids very friendly all staff made you feel so welcome. only downside u have to get up early for a sunbed some people were putting there towels out at 6 am in the morning. Food was great a good choice for every one drinks were a little bit expensive but we made the most of happy hour on a evening 7pm till 8 pm. Went over the road to the supermarket for water and nibbles much cheaper than the one in the hotel
