Our group of five female friends stayed here the first week in October. Our rooms were absolutely fine for two adults sharing, but were 'very cosy' for the three adults sharing: we thought the beds were very comfortable; sheets changed midweek. Powerful showers with hot water whatever the time of day; shower gel and liquid hand soap provided and topped up daily; towels changed daily; three-pin plugs in rooms so no need to take adaptors. Safety deposit box and fridge available to rent. Very efficient and quiet air-con in rooms. Food in main restaurant was excellent; so much to choose from and being constantly replenished right up to restaurant closing time; always a 'traditional English roast' on offer for those who just can't leave them at home (!); always several vegetarian dishes; always fresh fruit and salads available: all our group loved the variety and quality of food. We enjoyed the menu of free cocktails and spirits (free drinks cease at midnight): we thought the free wine in the restaurant was acceptable. Plenty of sun loungers round the pool areas and in the shade of the palm trees: waterslides are great fun; lifeguards very vigilant at all times. General cleanliness and management of hotel was excellent and our several requests were dealt with within minutes (eg request for more coat hangers, extra pillow, replacement light bulb etc). The animation team were excellent; and we enjoyed their evening shows: they obviously put a lot of effort into those. Our only negative comments are: the music round the pool bar area was very loud, but this would be more acceptable if there was a music-free two or three hours around lunchtime (just sit well away from the pool bar area to get a bit of peace and quiet). Also it would have been nice to have fresh fruit juices in the restaurant and bars instead of just the squash-type juice on offer. Overall, we would say that this hotel is very suitable for families and for those who like to stay somewhere lively. We would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Very small balcony on upper floors with only just enough space for a small table and two chairs ; if...

I booked this holiday just after Christmas and have been reading other people's reviews ever since it re-opened after the refurbishment and now we have just come back from the Phaethon having stayed the last week of Sept and first week of Oct. As everyone says the rooms are tiny but we stayed in a double family room which was adequate for us as a couple but would have been pretty crowded for a family especially the bathroom. I e-mailed the hotel just before we went and requested a quiet room on the top floor and we were given one which we were very happy with. There are plenty of comfy chairs inside the entrance where you can read, play cards or just sit and people watch and have a cocktail which were always topped up very quickly! The food is plentiful and you have a choice at luchtime to use the poolside cafe, Asian Corner or go into the main restaurant where you can sit inside or on the terrace. Yes I agree the food is repetitive but it is the same in all hotels we have stayed in - you just have to look around and choose differently every time and if it's not to your liking you can leave it and go up again. We always found the food was hot enough for us especially as the weather was very warm. The Management obviously run this hotel with a rod of iron and were always visible walking around asking if everything was okay. We did notice several times waiters being ticked off for not clearing a table quick enough or having an extra button on their shirt undone which I personally thought should have been done by taking them to one side and not where it could be heard by the holiday maker. Everyone works exceptionally hard especially the waiters in the restaurant and bars and seemed to be there most of the day and evening. The cleaners are always around keeping things tidy although when something rolled under the bed and I looked for it there were dead insects and it was very dusty under there! Despite taking all sorts of lotions and bands to keep the mosquitoes away nothing worked and we both got bitten. The hotel is right at the end of the strip in a very quiet area and if you like a stroll in the evening there is nowhere to go except along the main road because the path along the beach is not well lit but you can travel on the bus all day and night to different areas for 2 euros. If you want a holiday that is mainly hotel based then this is the place to go because the animation team will keep you occupied for most the day if you want to join in. We met some very nice people - especially Ken and Laura and enjoyed the 14 days we spent there and maybe in a couple of years when the beach is completed we will return again.

Room Tip: high floor rooms on the side overlooking the sea and tennis court

Dear guest,

Thank you for choosing the Louis Phaethon Beach and for writing a detailed review about your experience.

We are glad that our staff members answered your needs and that our services were up to your expectations.

Also, we thank you for appreciating the presence and the attention of our management team. Rest assured that in general staff is reprimanded discretely and away from the public eye. However, when in full service flow, it is a waste of time to take someone to the side and inform them of a button...

Regarding the cleaning, we thank you for reporting to us that it can still be improved and we will consider your comments to remind our housekeepers to follow thoroughly our cleaning procedures.

We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back in our hotel in the near future.

Kind regards

For our 20th wedding anniversary (honeymoon was originally in Paphos) , we stayed at Louis Phaethon Beach Hotel at the end of September 2011. We stayed in a family room on the second floor – lovely room with a sea view – could have done with a fridge or mini bar but newly refurbished with new fixtures and fittings including the bathroom. Wine and fruit left in room on arrival for our anniversary Travelled with First Choice holidays no problems with the flights or check in. The hotel is near the airport so transfer is quick but there is some aircraft noise depending on what runway / direction is being used.
There was a large floating crane and barge constructing a rock break water just off the coast which generated noise during the day but was interesting to watch !!! . There was sufficient sun beds and umbrellas for the hotel guests, and the two pools and water park area were first class, with numerous life guards on duty and a brilliant water playing area for small children.
The lobby area was well laid out and welcoming with big comfortable chairs and sofas. The hotel has wi-fi but no free areas so the only option is to purchase access time via the hotel however once purchased we were able to access the wi-fi throughout the hotel (three hours for 15 euros ) I feel charging for wi-fi was excessive .
We only saw one show and didn’t bother with the rest – personal choice.
The hotel complex was well maintained, spotless and staff were smart , helpful and friendly.
There is a bus stop just outside the hotel which runs regularly into a bus station just by the harbour, excellent value for 2 euros for a day return ticket. The bus station runs other bus service to the market area and coral beach and you can use this ticket all day as well as booking trips through the bus company.
The evening food at the hotel wasn’t to our taste however food area were spotless and well attended by staff – this was a personal choice and we didn’t hear any complaining from other guests. (We ate out a couple time at a lovely restaurant called “The Mooring “on the sea front of Paphos – try the set menu for lovely Greek food.
The drinks the hotel served were locally produced and were of an acceptable standard. They do charge 2 euros for a bottle of water if required from the bars but there were drink fountains in the food areas.
In a balanced summary, this was a nice hotel but we were two adults travelling alone, at a hotel which catered for young families. The hotel was classed as a 4 star hotel but there were minor areas for improvement.
Overall this is a lovely hotel to stay in with children but wasn’t to our tastes as we were looking for something a little more luxurious

It was a pleasure to read that you had a very pleasant stay in our hotel and that you enjoyed the friendliness of our services as well as the beautiful area of Paphos.

We have just returned from another brilliant holiday at this hotel. The recently upgraded facilities are great - rooms are modernised and when you are only in the room to sleep & shower they are more than adequate. There is a wide choice of food on offer in the main restaurant from breakfast lunch & evening meal with a special kids corner. Even the fussiest eater could find something to eat here. The new pools & water park are really great - there is plenty sun lounger provision for every one around all the pools and the snacks & drinks at the pool side bar are good and plentiful, being replenished on a regular basis. Toilet facilities are good, clean and regularly serviced. The entertainment is first class - Dido, the Entertainment Manager and his Animation team do an excellent job with a wide choice of activities on offer and plenty shows to watch - well done guys !!! The team do not pressurise anyone into taking part if they don't want to but for those who do take part there is the chance to win a Diploma !! 10mins walk from the hotel is a mini supermarket and right outside the hotel is a bus stop to take you into Paphos town centre for 2 euro return fare. Would definitely recommend the hotel to people whether it is a couple or a family holiday - all ages are catered for here

We have just returned from the Phaethon after our third visit this year. This is just the best place you can go to for a holiday. It does not matter what you want you can find it at the Phaethon. Even if you want a quiet time there are areas where you can sit and sunbathe without hearing the music round the pool. If however, like us you want to have a bit of activity and have a bit of fun this is the place to go.You can do as little or as much as you want to with encouragement for the incredibly hard working animation team. There's Archery, French boules, Aqua aerobics, Fun games both in and out of the pool, Shuffleboard, Volleyball, Water polo, Quizzes, Table tennis, Darts, Rifle Shooting and Zumba going on each and every day. You can do as little or as much as you like the animation team will welcome you to each and every activity but will never by pushy and drag you into it if you dont want to take part.
The food is absolutely superb for both quality and content with at least 10 - 12 choices for each meal. I defy even the pickiest of eaters not to find something that they like on the menu form the lovely soups and salads, the beautifully cooked carvery meats, vegetarian options, delightful fish options, freshly baked bread, fresh fruit & cheese and the fantastic range of desserts (the bread and butter pudding is wonderful) All is beautifully presented and the restaurant staff are constantly in action clearing away and helping anyone who needs assistance. A nice touch is having hostesses from the animation team to show you to your seats at the evening meal,All the meals are self service buffet style although the carvery meats are cut for you by the chef and the hardest part is refusing extra slices. The bar staff are extremely friendly, attentive and helpful and very efficient. One has to realise that at busy times it may take a few minutes to collect and serve the orders especially when there are large parties ordering lots of drinks, but our experience is that you will rarely wait more than about 5 minutes to receive your order. If you are pleasant and polite with the staff they are likely to be even nicer to you.
The Hotel was refurbished early this year and the result is brilliant. The new water park is absolutely great with really good slides and a great kids pool with all sorts of fun equipment like crocodiles and snakes squirting water and some fantastic tipping buckets which can be agreat way to cool down with a quick drenching (even for kids of 45 - 60 years old).
The new pool is another great facility and has he;ped spread out the sunbathing over a bigger area which seems to make the place less crowded. The lifeguard team was friendly, with a good sense of humour always prepared to have a joke but absolutely first class on safety and we saw no injuries or accidents during any of our stays which is testament to their excellent work.
With regards to sunbeds there were always plenty available throughout the day although we were early risers and enjoyed a cup of coffee by the sea at about 7:30 each morning.
Reception staff were very helpful throughout our stay and are always ready to assist with any queries or act very quickly on any minor problems with rooms or the like.
The Cleaning staff at this hotel work constantly from 7 in the morning and all the public areas are kept immaculately clean all the time. I have seen criticism in other reviews which I would contend is unjustified as our towels were changed every day and sheets were always fresh and clean and the room and bathroom were meticulously cleaned. Our cleaner even brought in clothes from the balcony one day when it looked as if it might rain.
Which only leaves the Entertainment. The Animation Team at this hotel has always been pretty good but this year in particular, they are of absolutely outstanding quality both in terms of talent and of sheer hard work. These people are working from 9 am 'til midnight 6 days a week and are constantly smiling and working to give the guests a good time. Even when they are not in evidence around the pool from 1 -3 and 5 -7 p.m. they are rehearsing for the nights show. Their talent at dancing singing and acting is prodigious and they performed a first class show every evening with Chicago, The Lion King, Grease and Mama Mia being absolutely first class shows comparable to professional productions, indeed the weakest shows tended to be the outside professional acts which were brought in when the team were on their rest days. These served to show just how much better was the in house team. Dido is a very talented performer and one of the funniest guys you could meet. His performance in the Fire Show is incredible (ably assisted by Ondrej, Nemo and Karbula) and his Bingo is so funny and entertaining. The girls - Kelly (Dancing & Zumba Queen), Ash, Cassie, Nico, Charlotte, Kirsty and Emily were brilliant. The boys - Ondrej, Boxy, Keby, Karbula, Billy, Milly and CJ were tremendous. The whole team gelled so well together and gave us such great entertainment and friendship that they made our holiday the best.
The great part about this hotel is that with all the activities and the club dances, people quickly get to know one another and get some connections so that everyone is smiling all the time and being friendly and nice to one another and thats surely what we all want from our holidays. Its no coincidence that we met lots of other people who had been there before and returned and we know that at least 15 or 20 people are planning to return at the same time next year. The can be no better recommendation than for people to keep coming back
Thanks again to the Phaethon for another fantastic holiday. We can't wait to get back there next year.
In the words of the DJ jingle " Probably the best hotel and animation team in the world"

Room Tip: Seaview rooms have a lovely view
