This was the first time that we have stayed at the Avanti and I have no hesitation to recommend it to others. The rooms are simple but clean and the staff all very helpful. The outdoor areas are very spacious with no shortage of sunbeds and a massive outside pool to relax by. We loved the stroll into the harbour area which takes around 15 minutes, but on a couple of evenings when we didn't fancy the walk we found a couple of great restaurants nearby (especially Ocean Basket which seems hugely popular). I definitely recommend hiring a car so that you can explore some of the areas around Paphos - in particular the little harbour at Latchi is very sweet and is a great place to go for lunch. Overall we had a great holiday and would definitely return.

Having previously stayed at the Avanti Hotel and enjoyed it hugely I was hesitant about going back again as I had seen one or two negative reviews. Well I made the right choice!!
The hotel was as welcoming as ever with helpful pleasant staff from the reception right thru to the maids. A cheery Goodmorning/Good Evening was always met with a smile.
The rooms are large and airy and we were lucky enough to have a beautiful view of the pool and gardens with the sea in the distance. The bathroom was clean and adequate for our needs and the room was spotlessly clean.
The happy hour cocktails in the bar went down a treat and were the perfect starter before dinner.
Now I am a very picky eater but I have to say I could always find a dish to my taste in the buffet, one thing people may not know is that you can always ask chef if he can accomodate a special diet like my partner, they went out of their way to make sure he had a great meal every night.

The only negative is that we have booked again for later this year so need to start saving again!! LOL

Try the Avanti, it really is a great family run hotel.

We stayed with our two daughters in a comfortable room with large bed and bunk-bed, with lovely view of the hills, on half-board basis. This was during the UK's Easter break, and hotel was 2/3rd empty--so nice and quiet, but with enough kids around to keep ours busy.

We were very pleasantly surprised by all aspects of this hotel. The room rate of 80 euros per night for all of us was excellent (on ebookers.com); every part of this hotel is spotlessly clean; the morning and evening buffets were really excellent (extra 11 euros per adult plus another 11 for both kids); and the facilities were great--nice pool, plenty of suncots, free wifi in the lobby, and particularly good kids' disco in the evenings. It's Cyprus: the staff are excellent of course--they've had 200 years of British-based visitors.

A few further points to mention: this hotel is family-run, so there's a personal touch and willingness to respond to questions that is unusual in these kinds of hotels. Further, drinks and coffees and other extras are very reasonably priced: an espresso served in the sunshine costs just 1.30 euro (!!) and a Pina Colada in the evening just 3.10 euro (!!). This hotel wants you to return year after year--they know that the way to do this is to create and retain good impressions.

That said, there's not much to do within 10 mins' walk of the hotel, and we are adventurers. So here's what we did: hired a car in advance using travelsupermarket.com; enjoyed walking along the seaside promenade into Pafos every day (around 1.8 km)--Pafos harbour is lovely, and the ancient castle is fantastic.

But Cyprus is one of the most stunning places to visit--with something, truly, for everyone. We visited archaeological sites (the best are within 30 mins drive); went up to Latsi for outstanding seafood dinner one evening (the drive over the mountains is stunning); and spent a day shopping and strolling in Nicosia (bring your passport to visit the Turkish side).

We would have been bored in the hotel had we not hired a car--but that says more about us than about the hotel.

Final point: the meals really were outstanding. And I'm a vegetarian--but that was fine because the fruits and vegetables in Cyprus are among the best anywhere.

We were very happy. We've never awarded 5 stars for a 4-star hotel, but the Avanti merits it. Enjoy!

Room Tip: Go for the half-board option, and see more of Cyprus by hiring a car in advance.

We stayed here in September 2011 (bit late writing up the review!) and had a wonderful time at the Avanti Hotel. Weather was gorgeous and although the hotel was very busy it was just at the time when the kids have gone back to school so wasn't packed with kiddies around the pool area or during meal times. Pool had its own kids area anyway. Food was wonderful - so much choice at breakfast and the couple of evening buffets we stayed in for. We have never done a 'package' holiday, being independent travellers up until now, but I really see the appeal when you stay somewhere like this. Great facilities including a gym which is great as I go every day at home so was able to keep up my routine and a nice quiet, and cool, indoor pool which I had to myself for swimming lengths! Outdoor area was lovely around the pool and bar and again the food at the pool bar was great (nice self service salad bar) and very reasonably priced. Rooms were spacious and spotless. Half price cocktails from 5pm-7pm - yum! And brilliantly located for Paphos town (buses as per previous reviews so cheap and quick!) and for day trips. For the first time in my life on holidays I spent at least 4 days without leaving the hotel, reading books by the pool, and alternated this with trips to ancient sites, into town, to the beach, boat trips. Hotel was lovely and quiet at night too - I'm a really light sleeper so that was great for me. Just can't praise this hotel any more - could not fault it in any way and would love to be going back this year - but there's a big world out there to be explored!!! Oh - and really recommend ocean basket for dinner - their sharing seafood platters are out of this world and such value for money too!

Room Tip: I really wouldnt bother with the pool view - all you hear in the evening is the entertainment - and...

We stayed at the Avanti last September as a last minute, late Summer holiday. The hotel was exceptional. Spotlessly clean, helpful staff and great facilities. The weather helped too - as it was hot and sunny every day.

Great location - just a 20 minute walk to the harbour, 2 minutes to the beach and within easy reach of lots of restaurants.

We asked for a quiet room on a high floor and that it just what we got! We overlooked the back of the hotel, but that was fine by us. Breakfast was lovely, and some of the best coffee I have ever had at a hotel abroad (normally it is luke warm dish water!), it was lovely and hot. And a great choice every day too, you are completely spoilt for choice! We sat by the pool every day, and walked to the beach at lunch times for a beer at the bar on the front! It helped us cool off a bit and we got to meet other people from other hotels!

The pool is lovely with a great 'swim up' bar, and plenty of sunbeds around it. Sadly the age old problem of people putting their towels on beds early in the morning and then not appearing til nearly lunch time still goes on. It is a shame that the hotel doesn't enforce the rule of removing the towels from beds. It is SO annoying!

We didn't eat at the hotel, apart from breakfast, but we heard good reports from other hotel guests who did.

All-in-all, we had a lovely 10 days at Avanti and will definitely be returning again this September. We really couldn't fault a thing.

I stayed in this hotel on July 2011 with a big group of friends and family from Cyprus and abroad.

Everyone was very happy with the location, the amenities and the service. Compared to the price we payed it was good value for money.

The pool was nice, the pool bar where you can have your drinks from the pool was something people enjoyed and the overall atmosphere, the politeness of the staff and their professionalism made the whole stay a good experience.

We spent one night at the hotel for a Cyprus traditional dancing event which was pleasant and our overseas guests enjoyed it. There was a manager's reception one of the afternoons which we thought was a nice touch.

The rooms were OK though they face the sun for most of the day making them unbearably hot if you switch the ac for even a few minutes. Also, don't leave any food outside, the ants will come in no time.

Breakfast was average. There was some good variety but a few things could be improved. For example the orange juice was lukewarm, some of the popular dishes on the buffet were running out and not replaced on time etc.

Location is good, especially if you have a car which we did. There are a few bars and restaurants just outside. It's about 5 minutes walk from the beach, but have to say the beach around the hotel are probably not the best ones in Cyprus, but that's a mater of opinion I guess.

We stayed for a week in early November and loved it here. The location was great with a really nice 15minute walk along the sea front into the harbour. The avanti village next door had a couple of great restaurants that we used, especially Ocean Basket. Hotel rooms were good, lovely outside areas and pool which were well maintained and cleaned. Service in the bar was a little slow on a couple of occasions, but we were on holiday so no need to stress about this!!! Overall had a great holiday and would definitely return.
