It's been our first holiday abroad in some time and we were looking for a relaxing and peaceful hotel in which to unwind. On arrival our sea view room was available, it was very clean and tidy (although somewhat dated in appearance) the balcony size was limited but to be honest who spends a lot of time either in their rooms or on their balconies when on holiday. When we were handed the key to our room we were also given a food voucher which at the time seemed somewhat confusing as this voucher actually entitled us to a free meal on our last days stay (even though we were full board!).

We encountered several mistakes with billing but we think these were genuine mistakes which were soon rectified once we had advised staff of this. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Were very welcoming and seemed to enjoy interacting with holidaymakers and ensured that our stay was enjoyable.

Everyday there were activities by the pool area and Marie took no prisoners when asking what activities you wanted to partake in. Therefore every day with the exception of Wednesdays (as this is her only day off) we could enjoy Aqua Fitness, Darts, Table Tennis and French Boules. I can honestly say that we both joined in with at least 2 of these activites on the days we were relaxing by the pool and all credit to Marie everyone had a really good time interacting with her and other guests.

Evening entertainment was on a 7 day cycle and not that entertaining to be honest. This could be much improved and was the only negative factor of our experience at the Pioneer.

There was an excellent choice of food and plenty of it. Drinks we thought were slightly on the expensive side but what do you expect when you book a better class of hotel.

This was our first time to Paphos, Cyprus and we have only seen a very small part of it and there is lots to do and see for all age groups therefore envisage returning at some point again in the not too distant future.

If you enjoy child free, peaceful, quiet hotels then this is for you - would highly recommend this to all we know.

My boyfriend and I went to the Pioneer for the last week of August. We are in our early twenties and booked through First Choice.

Check-in was quick. We thought the lobby looked quite dated though, the prints on the couches were 80s style and the paint colour was old fashioned too. Our room was nice and near the lift. Surprised to see they use actual keys here instead of key cards. Room was small enough but pictures seen when booking had reflected this. The bed was two singles pushed together instead of a proper double but it was comfy nonetheless. We had a fridge in our room and they had left a bottle of water for us in the fridge which was very welcome. The aircon is nice and strong so the room was always cold. The balcony was nice but it looked out onto a car park and barren land. The TV didn't have many English channels but we didn't go on hols to watch tv.

The outside bar was good, we enjoyed the cocktails and local brew but watch out for the mosquitos. My legs got destroyed the night I forget to spray the repellant. Most other guests were older than us but this didn't bother us.

We really enjoyed the extensive pool and garden area. We always got a chair, no matter what time we went down. The sea was one of the best parts of the holiday. The hotel is on the beach and there is a secluded bay where the waves aren't very strong. The first few feet is full of seaweed and there's quite a few rocks but once you're properly in the sea, it's great. The water was extremely clear and warm. It was also very calm and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We never bothered with the pool as the sea was so nice. Waiters will come to your chairs and you can order drinks. We liked having lunch in the hotel, esp the sandwiches.

The hotel staff were helpful enough, not bending over backwards but they did their job well. Internet at the hotel is expensive and there's only two computers to use. You have to buy time in hour blocks, we only needed about 10 mins! The shop in the hotel was a god-send, we used it to buy all our snacks and drinks to bring up to the room. I also used the spa and got a great manicure there.

The hotel is in a lovely area with great restaurants around it. It was great to have the peace and quiet from the kids being absent, it makes such a difference! Overall, we really enjoyed staying at this hotel and would go back again as the hotel's pluses outweight its minuses.

We had our 30th wedding anniversary coming up in September so I looked through
various hotels in Cyprus and found this 'adults only' hotel, which seemed like a good
quiet option. I booked it through Thomas Cook in May and took the time off work to go
away on 12 September. 36 hours before we were due to fly Thomas Cook rang to say that the hotel was overbooked and we could not go there. The alternatives we were
given were to go to the Athena Beach hotel (another Constantinou Brothers hotel) or
cancellation. I pointed out to Thomas Cook that this was not 'like for like' as this hotel
allowed children. I suggested that some form of compensation might be appropriate
(room upgrade etc.) but they were not interested so I was compelled to cancel the
holiday.
This whole situation smacks of making room for preferred guests at the expense of
people who have booked long before. Thomas Cook were utterly unhelpful and did not
even apologise for ruining our holiday. I fully intend to pursue a full ABTA complaints
proceedure against them but in the meantime be warned. If you book this hotel (or any
other Constantinou Brothers hotel) your holiday is not safe !

Looking at other reviews they all ring a bell, I have heared of other people having room / view problems but this time I was one of the lucky ones actually got up graded to Superier sea view. Correct! "senior" waiters are only interested in you if you buy wine and tip. Beach was cleared of sea weed every day but quickly came back. Rocks a pain literally! I broke a toe nail right off first day. Bar staff Stephan and Victor excellent!!
I was there earlier in March and will go back again. One thing really got to me though in March if you bought a whole bottle of wine they would not keep it for you but you could bring it back next night (just the two of us a lot to drink in one go) but this time I actually got "told off" for doing this with no warning, not a happy bunny on that one.
No KIDS, I love kids but could not eat a whole one. So a little peace and quite was nice. Its not kids that are the problem, its their parents and what they let them do at the cost of other guests. Entertainment light wieght but a couple of really good ones Nick was one and Ricky Paul was excellent.
Any questions please ask don't miss out on Cyprus please.............

We booked this hotel through First Choice Holidays and paid a supplement for a full sea view room. Upon arrival there seemed to be a problem finding the key to our room so we left the reception staff to deal with the situation whilst we went down to the restaurant for dinner. On our return we were handed our key and taken to room 367. The view from the balcony could barely be described as partial sea view and there was no way two people could sit on the balcony with a table as well. The hotel appeared in every other way to be all that we could have wished for - spotlessly clean, comfortably furnished, friendly welcoming staff. We never unpacked but were transferred to another "Adults Only" hotel belonging to the same group the next morning. We were not the only First Choice guests to have been transferred so obviously something had gone dreadfully wrong with the bookings this summer. We had chosen Pioneer Beach because of its excellent ratings but I suspect its First Choice visitor ratings will not be as good this time.
